A question about the articles and others things

In English articles -specially hats- there are some trivia that are being deleting and, well, I would want to know why. Specially for a friend, he really wants to know. I think that these things is due to people editing articles to get the wiki cap. We have one problem with an user and... well, nevermind. Only that question.

Anyway, I want to thank you for the good job fixing errors, sounds, translations... and, in some days, I could show you a little surprise. Its gonna be awesome, believe me. Sr Domi 21:35, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

I think the reason for people deleting trivia is because in some cases it tends to get out of control with uninteresting tidbits that have little to do with the article in question. And while there have been a recent upsurge of minor edits for folks hoping to get a wiki cap, I'm not sure if this is one such case. If you feel one user is being disruptive, let us know either here or on IRC.
And you're welcome, I'm happy to help fixing any errors for pages. --Piemanmoo 22:29, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, I was talking in general, not about at X article. Well, If you ask me... yes, we have a problem with an user. Ryo. One of my pardners on translation even made this to send it to someone. I think that you are the best to choose, because you are working on spanish editing too. Let me copy it:
"Dear TF2 Wiki Administrator,
I am writing this message in representation of a group of Spanish volunteer translators, who are editing the Spanish version of this Wiki. The reason for which I write to you is to complain about a user, Ryo, who is interfering in our work.
We are aware that a Wiki is an open resource that can be modified by anyone, and we respect that kind of format. Nevertheless, this particular user is screwing up all we manage to do.
He barely speaks Spanish correctly, let alone translating an article from English. He is constantly undoing other members' submussions, claiming that our work is inappropriate, when the most inappropriate work is, in fact, his. He does so with a great number of articles, several times a day.
My team and I think that this can be considered as vandalism, so we are requesting your taking part in this conflict. We are aware that the Spanish version of the Wiki must seem of little importance in comparison with the great engine of the original version, but since our goal is the same -to spread quality information-, we find ourselves in the need of asking for some help from the Wiki Administration.
I am looking forward to reading from you.
Yours faithfully, Tido."
The main article where he is annoying us is the Currently unreleased content/es. If you look at it, you will see Ryo making undo to the chances that we was making. He dont like my translation, or the Mr. Game or Tido's are. He only want his own translation. And he likes to translates making spanish version of english words (Crafting is not "Fabricación", it's "Craftear". Trade is "Tradear", and a lot of more things). He he strongly criticized us saying "The other guy used Google to translate this" or "Bad translating" even "Please, this user is making all bad, actions should be taken". He is a teen "fixing" errors from an user that is making a degree on English language. And he claims to me that he wants the Wiki Cap.
Sorry for the really long text, but I'm really bad at this. Thanks for everything!Sr Domi 15:14, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
I've left a note for Ryo asking him to stop with the edit wars. Hopefully that will fix the problem, and if not we'll deal with it further. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. --Piemanmoo 21:09, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Disruptions

Ok, but he translate it wrong, and I will summarize in English.. --Ryo 21:23, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

A little thing

Hi Piemanmoo, I read your conversation with Sr.Domi in your discussion page y queria decirle algunas cosas.

He said that I edit only for Wiki Cap, and this is false. My first contribution to the wiki was the Sept. 17, When i did not know nothing about it. He made a group to translate it. Sr.Domi removed me from the group because I translated an article by putting Kame instead of Hadouken.

He insulted me by the steam chat, and we get angry, I still contact one of that group, his name is SpiderGMan, and he supported me in things like "Highlander Community Challenge" should not be translated. He is a good friend.

I did an article (http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Currently_unreleased_content/es), and things that in the Spanish have not been translated as "Highlander Communty ETF2L Challenge" or "Contest Artpass map", the Sr.Domi translated literally, but the name isn't official, because Valve never translated it. The proof is that the official website in both English (http://etf2l.org/highlander/?l=en) and in Spanish (http://etf2l.org/highlander/?l=es) the name is the same.

I think in the Wiki that should it put the translation as Valve and not create your own traduction, Valve does not literally translate all languages of form.

The Sr.Domi's translates sometimes look like a Google Translator.

Piemanmoo greetings!, and I hope you understand me :) --Ryo 23:23, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Not to seem curious but...

Okay so in fact I am most definitely curious. You reverted a revert I did on "http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/File:Soldier_Dr%27s_Dapper_Topper.png" with the comment "Enough." seemingly implying that it was some kind of revert war. Scrolling down the page you will see I reverted the image ONCE and not only that but so did several other moderators. It's generally decided the Soldier with the two fingers is an inappropriate pose. It was replaced by Vi3trice and reverted by Mousse when someone changed it. Not only is the two finger pose unsuitable in comparison, it has Anti-Alias issues in addition. So in essence; I don't understand why you reverted said edit, and why you said "enough." as if it were some big deal :/. -- Benjamuffin Om nom nom! (talk | contribs) 09:22, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Also just to clarify that the above is said with a very civil tone in mind. I just want to clarify as I would hate to come across as being harsh. I just find the move to be taking a step backward for no particular reason. -- Benjamuffin Om nom nom! (talk | contribs) 09:33, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
The "enough" comment was not directed at you, but to everyone in the revert war. People need to discuss problems with the image on the image's talk page, such as the two fingers being an inappropriate gesture or anti-aliasing issues. --Piemanmoo 22:49, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, I see. Well, I agree with your move bar one thing. I don't get why you chose to revert it at all then? Would it not make more sense to write said warning on the talk page? I mean reverting to a version that also has image issues is redundant and just seems like a side take. Not that it is, I just think it wasn't entirely thought out. Anyways, thanks for filling me in. -- Benjamuffin Om nom nom! (talk | contribs) 06:13, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

What the...

You edited my user page while I was editting it and I lost several things. :( Caitomaster 20:35, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry about that, man. I just saw some of the templates were broken and wanted to fix them for you. If there's an edit conflict, you can always take the text in the bottom box and paste it over the top one, which overwrites the other person's changes. Again, sorry for the mistake. If you need help with userpage stuff, I'll be happy to help.--Piemanmoo 20:38, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Thank you :)

Thank you very much for fixing that prefix issue, and have a nice day! 404 User Not Found 18:49, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Template color scheme

Hello. I really like the colors you've added to a few of the update templates. The templates look clean; however, the title backgrounds are an issue. The colors red and blue are hiding certain links. This problem may fluctuate depending on a user's graphics settings. Please reconsider an alternative color scheme for the template titles.
minip 21:58, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

I admit to having the color-cordination skills of Andrea Bocelli, so feel more than welcome to alter the colors to a more appropriate hue :). I just picked random samples from the update pages themselves for the template colors, but many of them don't seem to work that well as you've pointed out. As long as the templates for the major updates are colored differently from the main Allweapons and Classnav templates, I'm happy. --Piemanmoo 22:05, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Amber's Rad As All Hell Hat level

I noticed you edited my WIP page for Amber's Rad As All Hell Hat. Thank you so much for correcting the titlebox and the tradable status. But, there was just one odd thing. You sited the item's level at level 24. But, the owner's backpack is set to private. Where did you get the item's level from? --Stevoisiak 20:24, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

I used TF2items insted of TF2B. The backpack may be private, but you can still see whats inside it from before it was made private. It lists Amber's hat as being level 24 (while J. Axer's is 10 and Uncle Sam is 74). Also, they dont have the "Wearable Hat" thing after their levels, it's just "level X". Your pages are very good, and I wouldnt mind seeing them on the mainspace. --Piemanmoo 07:48, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

ZliAle 17:30, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

ZliAle, talk to the admins into english.
I doesn't threaten him, I WARNED him. I said that we have a style, and the user Dio give him the guide, but he doesn't read it. After said to him that he need to improve his translation, he continued ignoring us, so I warned him if he continues making bad translation, I will report him.
I don't know how much level of spanish have the admins, but for example, I can see a gramaticaly bad english and think that is corect, so I think that you can't say "that is correct" in terms of grammar and coherence, you only can say "that is correct" in code terms. Jag Gentleman 14:17, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

stop following me in every place Jag Gentleman, when i talk to 1 admin he saidme i can write to him on spanish and i read him guide style, so idk what is your problem but stop try to get a fight in a wikia im here for help the wikia, not for fight like you ZliAle 00:39, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

For the convience of other users, most talk pages should be in English. As for the issue at hand, it seems like this is less to do with bad translating and more with keeping style with other articles. Normaly when creating a spanish page you can simply copy the whole page into notepad, translate the english parts, and paste it back into the new page. This lets you keep the style of the pages consistant. And as for the personal attacks and such, let's try to keep a tone of civility on here. If someone leaves you a message on your talk page asking for you, just say ok and make it a point to watch out for that particular error or whatever. Everyone makes mistakes on here, but getting in e-arguments only makes everything more complicated to sort out.--Piemanmoo 19:39, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello from BiBi

Hi Piemanmoo

I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself to you and the rest of the active Spanish speaking translating team. I started working on the TF2 Wiki not long ago but I have made a few little things which I thought would be good to bring to the attention of all the Spanish translators.

One of those things is the following page Team Fortress Wiki:Translation_progress/es/to-do. I have compiled this list from one that I requested from seb26 Team Fortress Wiki:Reports/Missing_translations/es I have only included the TF2 articles and not the TF Classic. I thought in this way we could keep track of what has been done, is being done and needs doing. Please feel free to use it and once you've done an article to remove it from the list.

I also wanted to invite you along with all the other Spanish translators to maybe start using the Team Fortress Wiki talk:Translation_progress/es and adding it to our watchlist so we can have any discussions about our everyday problems or queries. In this fashion we would have a centralized place that we can all use for information. I've notice that many tend to have discussions about names that should be given to things (their Spanish counter part if you will) in talk pages that belong to users. Such decisions I feel would be best had where we can all read it and contribute to the discussion so as a team we can arrive at consensus. What do you think? Any ideas you have would be very much welcomed.

I usually join IRC when ever I work on the Wiki please feel free to find me there, if not you are more than welcome to add me to your Steam friends list. http://steamcommunity.com/id/CuteBiBi

Pleasure to meet you Piemanmoo. Hope to hear from you soon.

Loc mod

It has been brought to my attention that your participation on the Spanish side of the Wiki is a bit lacking. Looking at your contributions or at the revision history of the Spanish translation discussionsdoesn't show much, either. Now, you are definitely active on the English part of the wiki, no problem on that. It'd just be nice to involve yourself a bit more on the Spanish side of things, ok? :3 Otherwise, it sets a bad example for a localization mod. If you don't want to be a localization mod, then that's quite fine and you can simply be a regular moderator. This wouldn't strip your ability to edit spanish pages; the only difference is that it would remove the spanish-side responsibilities, and we'd need to find someone else to do it. I hope that wasn't too blunt, and thanks for understanding~ — Wind 21:40, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

But I'm not a localization mod. I've always just been a regular mod who does some translating every so often. If you're looking for an offical localization mod there are plenty of good editors whom are qualified, however I've never considered myself to be the de-factor moderator for spanish pages. But let me know if you need anything else in regards to this matter. :)--Piemanmoo 07:04, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Oh wow, my bad, I never knew that. Other people thought the same, too... Carry on — Wind 07:11, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Good Job

Quote for Connoisseur's Cap

Hey there. Now hear me out. I hate it when people just change the quote of things to whatever they see fit without even discussing it first. What is your reasoning behind getting rid of my quote? You just put in the Pyro mumbling. I thought it was pretty good and so did a few other people too. So if you don't mind, I would like to change it back now. Fate Soul Blake 00:08, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

I agree. The mumble one is just a bad quote. His was a good one. Leaderboard class soldier.pngJust a Gigolo - (talk) 00:09, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
That quote was already used for the flare gun. Plus, it focused on his weapon more than the idea of cooking itself. More often than not, class-specific items should use quotes from the class they pertain to, but since the Pyro has a limited vocabulary we have to make do with whatever works. For now I've changed it to the unused scout sandvich one. --Piemanmoo 03:17, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
There is no rule saying a quote can only be used once, so that doesn't mean anything. And the quote is talking about COOKING, which fits a chef's hat perfectly. Remember, there is a discussion page, please use it before you make a major change. Leaderboard class soldier.pngJust a Gigolo - (talk) 15:24, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Plus most of the quotes on the pages for the Pyro have quotes from other classes. And if you're so concerned about the Flare Gun using the same quote, we'll just change the quote on that. That quote fits the hat more anyway. And you couldn't even "cook a s'more" with a flare gun anyway. Fate Soul Blake 18:39, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Fine by me. --Piemanmoo 20:07, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Poke

Hey man, I would kindly remind you about Team Fortress Wiki:Moderator guidelines. I think I've poked you about this on Steam already a long while ago, but I might be wrong. Anyway, just making sure you're aware of them and that a minimum level of activity is expected >: — Wind 00:04, 9 September 2011 (PDT)

Alrighty, I've been wasting too much time on work and school projects anyways. --Piemanmoo 14:12, 9 September 2011 (PDT)

Strange Eyelander

"* The Eyelander levels up only on kills, rather than total heads collected."
All Eyelander kills collects heads, aren't they? Jag Gentleman 01:32, 7 October 2011 (PDT)

Yes, but what I meant was killing someone who has heads themselves doesn't add them to your count. I tested killing a demoman with multiple heads, but the strange counter only went up by one.--Piemanmoo 15:42, 7 October 2011 (PDT)
Aaaah, now I get it, thanks for the clarification. Jag Gentleman 15:43, 7 October 2011 (PDT)
