Sniper Strategy
just to ask why wasn't the strategy i gave in the general section in the sniper strategy correct? it has worked for countless people Lexicon249 02:58, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- I am messaging both of you about this. For some information, please do not just remove information that may be prevalent blindly. It is much, much more productive to go the discussion section to see what the community thinks rather then undoing and redoing each others edits. Thank you! K-Mac (Talk | Contrib) 03:02, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- My case has been stated on the other's Talk page.InShane 03:24, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Pyro vs soldier
the point is not the skill but the fact that Pyro is a counter to Soldier. if the pyro is properly equipped the Soldier's primary weapon is useless. this makes soldier weak against pyro Magikarp★ 23:22, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Your argument stated that skill determined whether or not a Pyro could take down a Soldier or not. Now you're saying that that Pyro is an outright counter. Heck, Soldier was a hard counter to Pyro before airblast was even implemented. I suppose now, in theory, a competitive Pyro should be able to avoid most of the damage from a Soldier's rockets. To not be called out for an edit war, I'll go ahead and say the part could work with only one example. We'll keep Heavy up as a strong class, but take Soldier out. Will that appease you? InShane 23:52, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- There are far too many variables to ever say that the Pyro is a hard counter to the Soldier. It is a soft counter AT BEST and can often be beaten by smarts and skill. -- Firestorm 00:31, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment.
You reworded my note on the Pyro stratgey page. You're compliment was the first supportive thing I've been told on the wiki. I'm relatively new, so it helps. Thanks. :) ShadowGlove 19:41, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Paradox
Oh no. It appears we have similar names. Nice to meet you, similar person. I hope you don't mind if I remark about something so trivial here. Shane Alvarado 19:10, 21 July 2011 (PDT)
- Ah ha, another Shane. Excellent, it is rare to find a Shane outside of...I dunno, Ireland? InShane 19:13, 21 July 2011 (PDT)
Pyro vs Heavy
True, Flareguns vs anything is pretty good. But I've found that vs a Heavy, hiding and popping out to flare them works better than against any other class (and better against Heavies than most other tactics) for three reasons - they're a big and slow target (easiest class to lead), you'll take maybe a couple of hits at most if they even have the spin going when you pop out (you survive more than by using most other weapons), and playing as a Heavy gives a false sense of tanking security that can be destroyed with three flares (they usually don't expect to lose 200 health in 2 seconds). I won't do a revert war, but maybe you'll want to integrate this into the article. Slave 10:14, 23 July 2011 (PDT)
- Sorry about not relocating the info; it slipped my mind when I was thinking about how it was effective against several classes. I was gonna place it in the Flare Gun portion of basic strategy, and will do so now... InShane 15:57, 23 July 2011 (PDT)
Disguise Kit Usage
"It's not quite basic, takes too much time to perform". What's so hard about disguising as a constantly attacking Heavy, Sniper or Engineer and looking at his weapons? It takes about 3 seconds to look, scroll, press B, look, scroll, press B, look :l The reason why I didn't put this under the community strategy is because there's no section for tips like that - it's all usage of actual disguises. 15:13, 10 August 2011 (PDT)
- The problem with that tactic is that it's not consistent. For example, you won't be told you're a Demoman with the Targe or a Sniper with one of the shields. In those cases, you'll see a basic Stickybomb Launcher or SMG. This applies to a couple other loadouts, although they escape my mind at the moment. It seems significant enough that it could be added in, although with less words than the previous entry. InShane 16:52, 10 August 2011 (PDT)

Stickybomb versus stickybomb
I have seen it spelled as "stickybomb" all over the wiki. Why should it be capitalized as it is just a name for some ammo like needles, arrows, etc? Rolandius 19:59, 5 September 2011 (PDT)
- Unfortunately, this is one of those things that isn't covered in the Style Guide (http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Help:Style_guide/Weapons) and isn't monitored by any of the BOTS, as far as I know. As of now, the Stickybomb Launcher page uses a capitalized "Stickybomb," which has been the base I and others have followed for a while. No, I'm not the one that made it that way. I figure it's because Stickybombs are unique to TF2 - that's a relatively weak excuse, so I'd ask the IRC about it. InShane 20:06, 5 September 2011 (PDT)
- It should be covered in the Style Guide. I see on the Stickybomb Launcher page it is capitalized, but many other pages don't spell it capitalized. Other ammo, such as rockets (Rocket Launcher), syringes (Syringe Gun), etc., are not capitalized. It looks to be just the name of ammo. Also, I see a lot of other words spelled as "sticky jump", "sticky trap", etc. Rolandius 20:12, 5 September 2011 (PDT)
Obtaining Acheivements
In regards to the dubious-sounding method of achieving Highland Fling, that was how I got it. It was on Balloon Race, so I'm not sure if a large drop is required to get enough distance or not.
I got Jarring Transitions as Pyro, with a potshot gasblast as soon as the gates opened on Dustbowl.
MoonHitler 07:14, 27 September 2011 (PDT)
- Then I am in error and will undo my edits. Thanks for verifying all that. So long as someone can state it's been tested, it's all good. Sorry! -- InShane 15:17, 27 September 2011 (PDT)

Thanks for cleaning up my contribution, I didnt realize it could be written so well. Also, I have taken the liberty of making the layout of my user page after yours, I hope you dont mind. Doomgiver 03:39, 1 November 2011 (PDT)
Re: Regarding the strategy pages...
That is OK, I will not change those again – however on another note headings should use the correct casing, e.g. 'Primary Weapons' should be just 'Primary weapons', 'Item set effects' instead of 'Item Set Effects' (as none of these words are proper nouns like that) seb26 23:23, 1 November 2011 (PDT)
- Gotcha, I'll change them to said casing after a fellow editor inputs content on each page, for appearance's sake; I recently went and ran a semi-major change to the pages of all 9 classes. Thanks! -- InShane 23:39, 1 November 2011 (PDT)
Taunt kill achievements
Thanks for your concern, but I already added this suggestion for all relavent classes. I thought the achivement guide discussion page was the best place to put it. Note that I also noted that all melee-related achivents fo the demoman and one for the heavy are more easily earned on medieval mode. Also, I only discussed the achievements where the weapon can be used in medieval mode. I know that not all tauntkills unlock achievements. Besides, I really think it has to be included. Getting the achievements in regular gameplay is very hard. Doing this in medieval mode is not cheating, but is is a lot easier. i hope you and others agree. K-Raider NL 08:46, 26 January 2012 (PST)
Sandvich nerf testing
"The Heavy cannot use his own dropped Sandvich to heal himself; picking up a dropped Sandvich will simply reset the cooldown timer. An enemy Heavy's dropped Sandvich can only be used to restore health and will not reset the cooldown timer." How about friendly Heavies? If two friendly Sandvich Heavies swap lunches, do they get a cooldown reset, or the health boost, or does something else happen? Pathetic One 03:12, 20 February 2012 (PST)
- NOOOO, it seems our testing session missed something. Given that Sandviches are neutral entites (Medkits), I would assume that picking up a friendly Heavy's dropped Sandvich is the same as an enemy Heavy's Sandvich; it can only restore health and won't reset the cooldown timer. I'll look at that once I get home. -- InShane 08:37, 20 February 2012 (PST)

I am sorry
InShane, I apologise for my disrespectful behaviour during some of the discussions we had. I'm still new to the wiki, and I understand that you want to maintain a level of quality on the wiki. From now on, I will try to keep that in mind as well. I just had to get that off my chest. K-Raider NL 01:38, 6 July 2012 (PDT)
- I didn't feel any disrespect anywhere from you. I prefer blunt opinions, since the wiki tries to share information. Arguments that use more facts and less opinions can always be listened to if the wording remains neutral. You joined the wiki in...looking at archives...January? Just start making actual edits instead of filling up the talk pages; edits and reversions exist for that reason. -- InShane 01:48, 6 July 2012 (PDT)
your majesty
In terms of one-on-one encounters, the two of you are pretty evenly matched when it comes to damage output. At longer distances, a Demoman can easily shell you with grenades and charged Stickybombs. Your Rocket Launcher and Shotgun are easier to aim than his Grenade Launcher or Stickybomb Launcher, so stay within medium range and keep a direct line of sight to maintain the advantage. Like when fighting an enemy Soldier, rocket jump to gain a height advantage while making it difficult for the Demoman to land direct hits. Even if you don’t have the Shotgun equipped, a well placed rocket can move his Sticky traps. If the Demoman decides to rush you down with the Chargin’ Targe or Splendid Screen, use the knock back from a rocket to pop him into the air and cancel his charge.
it's previous contents of soldier match-up first error is "pretty evenly matched when it comes to damage output"
Sticky bomb damage 120 Rocket launcher damage 90 (at 100% damage line) Sticky bomb attack interval 0.6 Rocket launcher attack interval 0.8
if you are not fool, just acknowledge this big error second error "so stay within medium range" in medium range, Demoman 'overwhelms' Soldier. I'm team fortress2 600 hour user. I guarantee it.
it's my revised
In terms of one-on-one encounters, Demoman has greater DPS(damage per second)more than almost double Soldier does so that at longer distances, a Demoman can easily overwhelm you with grenades and charged Stickybombs. Your Rocket Launcher and Shotgun are easier to aim at close quarters than his strong Stickybomb Launcher, so always stay within close range and keep a direct line of sight to maintain the advantage. Like when fighting an enemy Soldier, rocket jump to gain a height advantage while making it difficult for the Demoman to land direct hits. And you also can get close to Demoman using rocket jump to gain a close advantage. Even if you don’t have the Shotgun equipped, a well placed rocket can move his Sticky traps. If the Demoman decides to rush you down with the Chargin’ Targe or Splendid Screen, use the knock back from a rocket to pop him into the air and cancel his charge.

Your mathcraft is fine, but math is just numbers. Additionally, I definitely did point out what was wrong with your entry. I maintain the strategy pages and get quickly tired of cleaning up poorly worded minor additions - they happen, a lot. I'll visit the page again after work. I suggest you not take personal offense and revise your attitude before continuing to edit further. -- InShane 09:13, 17 July 2012 (PDT)

Eviction Notice DPS
How exactly is the Notice's DPS 20% less than that of the stock fists. You get 50% faster attack speed and 60% reduced damage. 1.5 x 0.4 = 0.6, so it's 40% less. Also, the rate of 3 Eviction Notice punches is identical to the rate of 2 Fists punches. The former deals 78 and the latter deals 130. 78/130 also equals 0.6, so this also proves its amount of decrease in damage per second. - Pootis-Man (talk) 22:29, 1 November 2014 (PDT)
- What's happening is that "50%" faster firing speed" is a somewhat incorrect tooltip. The Eviction notice fires punches twice as quickly, making the multiplier 2x. -- InShane (talk) 12:16, 2 November 2014 (PST)
- Yeah, you explained me on the other page. Now I understand that it's somewhat a typo, so with 100% increase instead of 50%, it's 2 x 0.4 = 0.8, so you're typically right. You can tell I was misled since I didn't realize it was a typo. - Pootis-Man (talk) 19:24, 2 November 2014 (PST)

Community Strategy Suggestion
Heyo InShane, since you've been doing most of the Basic Strategy page checks, I've been at it working (tediously) hard with the Community Strategy pages.
I'm just here to ask one thing cause I'm unsure of what to do: there is a long section in every class's Community Strategy page (except the Scout) dealing with Class-Combat Strategies, and it takes up a lot of space on the page. Does it seem viable if I simply move all class combat strategies to the Class Match-ups pages instead? Seems like they'd belong there, plus they are lacking info in any case. The Cooperative Class Strategies can stay, since there isn't a page dedicated to them.
I'd like to get an answer quick so I can keep working on the pages; even after three weeks I've only gotten two Community Strategy pages done. Thanks. Archrelico "Mexi" 23:46, 21 April 2016 (PDT)
- Certainly! Like I said, I'll follow your lead. What about this...want to leave Class-Combat as is for now? I'll go through and move the information to the respective match-up pages this weekend, then remove the Class-Combat sections from each page. -- InShane (talk) 07:31, 22 April 2016 (PDT)
- Sounds good, it'll help a ton if you move them while I work on the rest of the community strategy pages. Once they're there it's up to you whether you want to update it yourself; you can also just leave it for me to rewrite or add missing info, since I'm basically free everyday. Archrelico "Mexi" 08:27, 22 April 2016 (PDT)
- We should decide how much information we want to retain on the Community pages. I went through the page history before beginning and noticed you're actively revising the match-up sections on each Community page. Much of the information can be found on corresponding pages. For example, Soldier_match-ups and Anti-Demoman_strategy (also pages I take care of) together give a good idea of how a Soldier should deal with various Demoman loadouts. It is definitely possible to remove text completely instead of revising it, which might lessen your task? Alternatively, the in-depth explanations you're filling out can stay as a series of "Community match-up" information. -- InShane (talk) 17:34, 23 April 2016 (PDT)
We can definitely fill up the Anti-class strategy with more info then. Honestly, I did Community Scout strategy without knowing every other page had a Class match-up section, and when I got to the Soldier one I was taken by surprise. Also, what do you mean by community match-up? Does this mean moving my info to the match-up page or keeping it as a unique section on the community strategy page? Archrelico "Mexi" 22:17, 23 April 2016 (PDT)
- Okay, I can take all Class-Combat info and slowly transfer it over to the other pages. Thus, those sections can be removed from Community Strategy so you don't have to worry about em. You haven't planned on revising Pyro and the rest yet, right? Those are the sections I refer to removing. -- InShane (talk) 11:13, 24 April 2016 (PDT)
