The New Audio File and Market Listings

The late June item schema update added an untradable version of the Team Fortress 2 Soundtrack Promo, where Steam codes for the soundtrack now award an untradable version of the Soundtrack Box, which then awards an untradable Audio File. This will be the norm for the promotion going forward -- all future redemptions of the soundtrack's code will grant these versions of the items. Therefore, I have edited the relevant articles to add a non-tradable attribute.

The issue at hand is: what do we do about the Community Market listings button on the Audio File article? It links to listings for the previous item definition for the Audio File, ones granted before this past June. These versions of the Audio File are still, and will remain, tradable and marketable; as they are different items, with different attributes. As far as I am aware, this is the first situation where an item becomes untradable by way of a second version of the item being added, and the old one being soft-retired; rather than situations like the Horseless Headless Horseman's Headtaker, which was tradable through a bug that was since patched.

What are our opinions regarding how this should be handled? — User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png User ThatHatGuy Signature Talk.png User ThatHatGuy Signature Contribs.png 00:46, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

I think since they are both valid, we keep the market listing. I believe we should keep the other attributes in the infobox up-to-date to the current version of the item, but maybe add a <ref> stating that since the patch newer versions of the item are not tradeable (or add a note at the bottom of the main paragraph, something like "as of x-patch, new versions of the item are not tradeable).
