The Ready Steady Ham medal awarded to participants.

This article is for competitive play.

Ready Steady Ham, commonly abbreviated as RSH, is a competitive tournament ran by the Official Ready Steady Ham staff. It houses European, North American, South American (as of Season 3) and Oceanic/South East Asian (as of Season 3) regional divisions.

The tournament is synonymous with the multi-class melee weapon, the Ham Shank. It was organised as a result of the addition of the Ham Shank in the game in the March 12, 2013 Patch. It is widely regarded as a semi-serious competition.

Format

Ready Steady Ham takes the form of a 6 vs 6 match, restricted mostly to melee weapons. The maps played in the tournament can greatly vary, but the most commonly played modes are King of the Hill and 5CP. As of Season 2, the Stopwatch (standard Attack Defence and certain payload maps) format was introduced in the official map cycle.

Class Restrictions

The Tournament restricts the use of any class which cannot use the Ham Shank, in addition to restricting the number of classes allowed on each team. The allowed classes are:

Class Quantity
Scouts 2
Soldiers 2
Pyros 2
Demomen 2
Heavies 0
Engineers 0
Medics 0
Snipers 1
Spies 0

Weapon Restrictions

All weapons are banned, with the exception of the following:

  • Bonk! Atomic Punch
  • Crit-A-Cola
  • Mad Milk
  • Rocket Jumper
  • Gunboats (you may use Gunboats to prevent accidental discharging of the soldier's secondary)
  • Sticky Jumper
  • The Bootlegger
  • Ali Baba’s Wee Booties
  • Jarate
  • Ham-shank
  • Machina (To prevent accidental discharge of the sniper's primary)

A full list of the rules and allowed weapons can be found here.
