You! Yes, you! You are dead!
The Heavy

A Death occurs when a player's life drops below one health point, resulting in a kill. There are several types of kills that can be inflicted either by players or by the environment. A death yields a range of points to the player or players who dealt the killing blow and adds one to your own death count. The name of you and your killer (if you were killed by a player) is displayed in the recent kills log on the upper right corner of the HUD. After you are killed, you enter the respawn cycle and must wait a certain length of time before you can rejoin the game. Upon death, a player will also drop his weapon, yielding ammo and metal to other players should they walk over it. The following is a list of different types of kills:

Player Kills

Player's HUD death icon, seen briefly in place of the Health number when the player dies.
  • Being Finished Off - 1 Point
This occurs if a player kills himself when he has been damaged by another player. It may also be shown if a damaged player disconnects, uses the kill command in console or gets an Environmental death by pits, Payloads, Saws etc.
  • Drowning - 1 Death
This occurs if a player stays underwater for a large amount of time. To remedy this, just resurface and some of the health lost will regenerate.
This occurs if a player is standing upon a teleporter exit as it is being used by a member of the other team.
  • Slaying - 1 Death
This is a command available to an admin which allows him to instantly reduce any player's health to zero. This is normally used to remove a laggy player from play or to punish the player for offences committed on the server. A slay can be initiated by the player himself by typing kill or explode into the console.
This could be considered a type of kill, though the player achieves one for destroying buildings and not other players.
This currently occurs only when the player is hit with the Tribalman's Shiv or the Southern Hospitality. Should the player die to the bleed condition, it will award the point to the inflicter.

Environmental Hazards

  • Being hit by a Train - Instant death
During a game in Well or Freight, trains occasionally run by, on the tracks located near the central Control point. Being hit by a train causes instant death, even if they are ÜberCharged. Flashing lights accompanied by a ringing bell indicate that a train is about to pass.
In Sawmill, two large saw blades move slowly along opposing tracks on the floor of the large center building. Being hit by the edge of one results in instant death.
Unused explosion kill icon
  • Explosion - Instant death:
When a player is caught in the explosion of the Payload cart in the final stage of a Payload or Payload race map, they are instantly killed.
  • Falling
Falling from a great height inflicts fall damage, which injures and may kill the player, depending on remaining hp. The damage can vary depending on the height from which the player falls. However, if a player falls from beyond a certain distance, it will kill them instantly. Fall damage may also be taken as the result of being juggled. Some out-of-bounds areas may instantly kill a player with fall damage, regardless if they would have taken fall damage normally.
In the event version of Harvest and Mann Manor, pumpkin bombs may be found lying around the map. When shot at, they explode, damaging any player that is close.
