Obtainable through file edits
Currently this hat can be obtained through editing the files that TF2 looks at to check it. This is done by changing video IDs to a video with 1000+ views. Should this be listed under bugs or should it not be listed because it's essentially cheating. I'm new to the wiki so i'm not sure what the rules to this one would be. --Linchowlewy 04:11, 29 June 2011 (PDT)
- Im not sure either we should be able to warn people in the bugs portion of the page that the field recorders can be cheated like that and some are not legit, but if we do put it in the bugs it might tell some people who want the hat badly to get it that way. WarCry45 16:10, 29 July 2011 (PDT)

- That is about as useful as a Engineer without his Wrench. Near useless. Are we authorized to erase that? Fyahweather 07:33, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
- Wow. Somewhat showing off? There are heaps of others who have it and you haven't stated any reason why it is relevant to this page or made it a separate section. Pierow 07:26, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Time restriction
Any time restriction to get this hat ? --Baptiste 'BapNesS' Carlier 08:20, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- No. -- En Ex (talk) 08:21, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- Just like the other achievements there is no time restriction Turtlebolt 16:10, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
Steam Accounts Link with YouTube Accounts?
So how will the achievement that gets this hat work? And by that I mean how will TF2 know that a video that you uploaded to YouTube get 1000 views? Is there a feature that allows you to link a Steam account with YouTube? Because if that is ho it works, that is very cool. Fate Soul Blake 17:07, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- After you save a replay, you convert it to movie format in TF2. After you've done that, there is an option that says "YouTube it!" which prompts for your YouTube username and password. After you enter that, it will upload to YouTube from TF2. The two accounts are linked, but I don't think anyone knows how far just yet. For example, what would happen if you used two different accounts for two different videos? Would it only monitor one account/video? Does it let you use more than one account? I'm assuming it simply monitors the video ID returned after uploading, regardless of the account used to upload it. However, I uploaded a video yesterday and the YouTube achievement counters have yet to increase. There's no telling how often it checks for updates - maybe once every 24 hours or so - or it may just be bugged and not even check yet. But there is already a section in-game that lets you upload to YouTube via TF2. - GAMEchief 17:42, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- The youtube view count updates are delayed sometimes. Also your video has to be viewed outside of tf2 in order for it to count as viewed. Turtlebolt 14:17, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- It is definitly still bugged. I have a video created through the replay system, edited there, and uploaded to my youtube account all through TF2. It has 140 youtube views, yet the achievment says I have Zero Views. The video has been up a week. --The Blueberry Villain 20:00, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- @ Blueberry Villain, did you go onto the video in the game. If you didn't it will not count the views.
- Perhaps that tip should be added to the wiki for those attempting the achievement. Maybe its not necessary, just discussing it.--The Blueberry Villain 20:25, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Trivia Correction
Whoever put that this hat is a reference to "Paul Gordon" is clearly a moron. I guess they just googled "writer director star", found this article, and just went hog wild. Then someone else assumed they were talking about the Paul Gordon of some random Seventh-Day Adventist thing on Wikipedia? Cronodoculous 19:32, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
- Which is the fate of most trivia. Though, I wouldn't call them a "moron." Just a Gigolo - (talk) 14:11, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
- I agree. I try to avoid editing/adding trivia because its very easy to make yourself look like an idiot and/or get your facts wrong. Pierow 07:07, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Gallery?
I think a gallery is needed on this page just like the other all class hats. Pierow 07:16, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
how to get
Is it 1000 views for one video or all your videos made using replays? Thespy 13:20, 27 June 2011 (PDT)
- It's 1000 views for one video. It doesn't add up all your videos --Linchowlewy 04:12, 29 June 2011 (PDT)
Any view for view websites around?
Does anyone know if there are view for view websites around on the nets? I wish to obtain this hat, without posting my vids on every single video I see. Vaarsivius 14:24, 22 July 2011 (PDT)
- Note The talk page is for discussing the page itself not the item or how to earn it. Please keep discussions such as this on the steam forums. 14:27, 22 July 2011 (PDT)
Multiple hat bug is a universal bug
It applies to any all-class hat you had equipped on before the Deus Ex patch. I had the bug on the Parasite and Gibus on one of my idle accounts. Balladofwindfishes 09:17, 26 August 2011 (PDT)
- Perhaps this bug should be listed in the Glitches or Hats articles, since it appears to affect a lot of hats; this way we can have it listed, but not necessarily have to edit it into every article. ButteredToast 09:40, 26 August 2011 (PDT)
bug edit youtube views
hi, i have a question about the bug that allows you to edit the views, how do players or youtubers do that? Villager3056 (talk) 06:10, 25 December 2013 (PST)
"this hat can no longer be obtained without using external programs."
I previously edited the line "this hat can no longer be obtained without using external programs" due to the fact the achievement/item can be earned by editing a single local file, not needing any use of an external program. This was reverted due to the Wiki not encouraging editing of files, and while I respect this, I cannot imagine the Wiki supports use of external programs to indirectly edit the files either. So why leave this line at all? I would argue that it should either say something along the lines I had (i.e. "this hat can no longer be obtained via official methodology.") or simply removed altogether (i.e. "this hat can no longer be obtained."). What is currently on the page is inaccurate. Joshduman (talk) 19:20, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
