Crafting Bug?
I crafted a Sun-on-a-Stick today, using only tradable items, and it resulted in a non-tradable weapon. Does this happen to everyone? Slimecounty 05:50, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, if you craft something with non-tradeable metal, you end up with an non-tradeable item. GeminiViRiS Talk Contribs 05:53, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- And how you get non-tradable metal? D: Jag Gentleman 10:30, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

- NO, it was crafted with ONLY TRADABLE ITEMS, this means tradable items and tradable metal, yet it's a non tradable weapon, is there a specific reason? Does this happen to others? Slimecounty 21:59, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- EDIT: It has reverted to tradable over night, I'd still like to know if this is a bug or something only I experienced. Thanks. Slimecounty 22:04, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

- SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION, I should have looked into it more, this is just an error with tf2items.com reporting it as non tradable. I apologize for the wasted kb's.Slimecounty 14:15, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Bugs?
Is it actually a bug that it shares its sound with the bat or just Valve being lazy? It would only be a bug if there was an unused soundfile made for it. Mssive Mountain of Hat 01:41, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
Crafting Recipe
Does it take 3 reclaimed, 1 refined, or either? The recipe for the Pyro axe says 1 refined so I'm thinking it could actually be either. Mssive Mountain of Hat 01:39, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- I crafted it using 3 reclaimed. 1 refined doesn't work Balladofwindfishes 01:52, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Definitely takes 3 rec + Boston basher. I had to craft down my ref to make it, which is silly. This must be craft only since it costs so much to make. I doubt they will add it to regular drop table and it will help bring down ref inflation, at least until everyone crafts 1 of each for themselves. Turtlebolt 02:44, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Either way guys, I think we can all agree that things are getting more and more expensive to craft. That's not a good thing :/ Pierow 09:45, 6 March 2011 (UTC)TC370

Genuine quality
You get genuine quality when you get Son-On-A-Stick as a promo, so genuine is the new vintage!! Turtlebolt 06:31, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Except the new vintage is useless in trading since Genuine to taken away when given to someone else. DennoCoil 20:04, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- It should remain genuine quality after traded Turtlebolt 07:40, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Considering the front page says so. GeminiViRiS Talk Contribs 07:42, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- It does stay genuine after trading, like vintage. Mssive Mountain of Hat 01:36, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
Quote
Is the description really a quote from somewhere? Can anyone provide a link? Squidfeeder 00:57, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
its from the article From Hell at www.teamfortress.com 20:20 9 February 2011
Usage
It does bonus damage to burning enemies but less to non burning. Its basically an Axetinguisher but the scout is forced to rely on a nearby pyro or follow a pyro around to make this weapon useful. Turtlebolt 06:04, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- You are worng, it does less damage to BURNING enemies.
- No, you are wrong, it does 35% more damage, and 45% LESS damage to NON-BURNING players. PredatorDuck 15:26, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- Oops, sorry, how confusing. Jag Gentleman 15:28, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

They improved this weapons effects to deal mini-crits to burning target, but deal 15% damage. Still feels like a downgrade over the regular bat despite the extra effort of go after burning targets or following a pyro. Turtlebolt 07:46, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
To be honest, I think this weapon would be worth using (if only for comedic purposes) if it had the Sharpened Volcano Fragment's stats. Loomynartylenny (talk) 04:42, 25 March 2017 (PDT)
Regarding the itembox
Should we change the item quality in the itembox on this weapon and the Sharpened Volcano Fragment to Genuine? It seems kind of obvious, seeing as how the weapons are currently only obtainable in Genuine quality. That is the case until the pre-order period ends, of course. 404 User Not Found 16:27, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- So I've went ahead and changed the quality in the itemboxes of both RIFT weapons to "Genuine", seeing as that's the only quality they come in (at the moment). However, I've noticed the names on the itemboxes now say "Genuine The", at the beginning. That's not the case though. Take a look at my backpack on TF2Items.com, page 18. I have both of the RIFT weapons, and the prefix is just "Genuine", not "Genuine The". Is there any way to correct this and remove the "The"? 404 User Not Found 18:23, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, add an attribute prefix = no, or something like that, to the infobox. I can't check at the moment so check the template documentation if that's wrong. —Moussekateer·talk 18:34, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Ahh, alrighty. I shall do just that. I hit the "Edit" button on the Backpack item template and took a quick look at the coding of it....wow. I didn't want to edit it because I was afraid I'd break something. But thanks for the tip, Moussekateer! 404 User Not Found 18:37, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- Weird. I tried setting 'prefix' to "none", "no", and "false". Nothing worked. I guess the backpack item template just needs to be updated. 404 User Not Found 18:41, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

First person view picture
Uhh guys, have you noticed that in that picture showing the viewmodel, the SOAS is in the middle? It should be more to the right. Mentlegen 23:26, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- It is on the middle since it just shows the hand picture only, not the position. Shock394 23:44, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Sun of whata?
To me the Item Box's name is colored black, against the background you cant read it, could someone fix that? Gamecrazy009 03:04, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Ctrl-f5 the page a few times and all shall be revealed. —Moussekateer·talk 03:05, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- well it seems someone fixed it, nice job :D Gamecrazy009 21:55, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Incorrect name
The official name for this item, via tf_english and the API is "Sun-on-a-Stick" note the lower case "on" and "a". I feel this should be moved to correct this mistake. – Smashman (talk) 17:16, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
- Sun-on-a-Stick already exists as a redirect so it would just be a case of swapping the contents around. Scatman John (Talk | Contrib) 17:18, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
- Support 17:18, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yes You already mangled Medigun and almost did the same to Flamethrower, so I don't see why this poor item should not be subjected to the same.--Focusknock 22:55, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
- Support Request for deletion of Sun-on-a-Stick so that this page can be moved. BLUH 08:50, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Droppable?
So, now that the item can be crafted, was it also added to the random drop system? Frankly, I don't feel like spending 1/3 of a random hat on an item that only works in certain situations. --Powerlord 03:41, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
Nope. Thespy 03:48, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
Yes, just saw one drop. Cranberry Jerk 09:32, 23 September 2011 (PDT)
Crafting with tokens
Are you guys sure this is craftable using tokens? Typically, only weapons with a craft_class defined in the items_game file are craftable using these recipes. The sun-on-a-stick and volcano fragment do not have a craft_class defined. --Drunken F00l 18:21, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- You're right. They can't be crafted that way. --SandeProElite 12:55, 1 July 2011 (PDT)
Using bat sounds really a bug?
I mean, they don't really fit that well, but is it really a bug? I think it would be more of a bug if it was suppose to use a different weapon's sounds according to the schema, but used the bat sounds. It's disappointing that they use ill-fitting sound effects, but I don't see them as bugs. This also applies to the Solemn Vow, Pain Train and a few other weapons. Uncraftable one now appearing
Hi, recently uncraftable SoaS, RIFT Fire Ax, and Vita-Saws have been appearing in the community. They are found by purchasing $20 worth of items in the Mann Co. Store and getting the one free random item. It seems likely this is a glitch or bug, but maybe something that should be mentioned in the article. I'm not very sure with this since I'm rather new to this wiki. Alexander 17:48, 19 April 2012 (PDT)
- You get a random (uncraftable) drop from spending 20 dollars. All three of those items randomly drop. Balladofwindfishes 17:51, 19 April 2012 (PDT)
