Taunts
Shouldn`t those unused taunts be put here?--Hobbes348 04:38, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
I saw this and I don't know if it is possible to play the first one in-game (and visible for other players; the taunt is present on all the TF2 clients). If yes, how? Thank you in advance, and sorry for my bad English…--bot_npc_archer 18:49, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Beer Stein
I would've thought the Beer Stein was meant for the Medic, not the demoman. It is of German origin after all and I believe its still used in the anual Oktoberfest. Untamed64 08:44, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
The Question Mark
Should we add the temporary "Question Mark" to the unreleased hat section? -= M-NINJA =- 17:24, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
- No, it was a placeholder. It was never intended to be a hat. —Moussekateer·talk 19:34, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
- Nope It's not "unused." It was a placeholder so no one would find out what the Hat of Undeniable Wealth and Respect looked like. I don't even know if the model is still in-game. Fendermcbender 19:37, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
- it is indeed still in the game files as "treasure_hat_03.mdl", but thats not important. -= M-NINJA =- 02:48, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Festive Winter Crate
Festive Crates-UNUSED?!!!!! I cant say that the Festive winter crate isUnused because it is used! Used by people who bought Festive Winter Keys. It is not suitable here in the Unused Content because it had been used in a month. I think somebody might place a new section in the "Item Drop System" article "no longer drops" section. Also, the Festive Crate just expired not scrapped.Mardamien24 08:52, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- I agree, and I thought we had quelled all the references to it being unused. Thanks for picking up on it. Fixed now. – Smashman (talk) 09:05, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Heraldic Targe
You forgot the Heraldic Targe. I will try and see if I can edit it in. Mr. Wii 21:19, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Unused Textures
Should there be a page dedicated to unused textures? Seeing as how there are loads of them in the game. Doktorpsyko 14:54, 30 August 2011 (PDT)

More Unused Icons?
I found some sprites which they are on "minimap_icons" folder. They are pretty simple, I think it's used on the map the Control Point bases, but some icons are not used.
There is also a engineer teleporter icon with a question mark above. I think when there was no exit, it would appear that icon Gabrielwoj 23:37, 8 October 2011 (GMT -3)
/tf/models/buildables/amplifier_test/
I don't know if this was installed via mod or not, but was this a scrapped building? Have some ponies! 20:07, 10 October 2011 (PDT)
- The Amplifier is a SourceMod plugin that swaps out the Dispenser with the "Amplifier". In other words it's one of the worst things ever. RagnarHomsar 20:09, 10 October 2011 (PDT)
- Not the amplifier. Some guy edited this article but forgot to post his name. The unused icons I said are here:
- team fortress 2 materias.gcf -> tf/materials/sprites/minimap_icons
- team fortress 2 materias.gcf -> tf/materials/HUD

Tokens - Copper, Silver and Gold and odd backpack icons.
Found these in tf\materials\backpack\crafting. There's 3 of them and all 3 have two versions, normal size and large size. (All images below are hosted on my personal site).
- \tf\materials\backpack\crafting\token_bronze.vtf
- \tf\materials\backpack\crafting\token_silver.vtf
- \tf\materials\backpack\crafting\token_gold.vtf
As well, for some strange reason, the Engineer's Toolbox has a backpack icon....but it's not a weapon...
- \tf\materials\backpack\weapons\w_models\w_toolbox.vtf (large version also exists)
And finally, a backpack icon for what is called a Flaregun, but looks like a Blutsauger (large version also exists)
- \tf\materials\backpack\flaregun_small.vtf
Boy do I ever love beta/unused content. And this stuff is just weird. 404: User Not Found (talk) 18:57, 1 December 2011 (PST)

- I recently downloaded what was presented as a "Team Fortress 2 Beta" because it apparently contained Source Filmmaker (which it did, I will say in advance). When I installed it, I installed everything into C:/Program Files/Team Fortress 2. Since then, these weird lowres images have been appearing in my team fortress 2 materials.gcf file. Here's a preview of that new_worldrpg_combo file:

Unused Decal ID Badges
Laro mentioned back during the Manniversary update that there were 2 unused decal badges he made in the GCF. I haven't gotten around to finding them yet, but I'm positive they are there, or were there. Anyway, we should get pages up for both of them, maybe as one page for both the items since they're just the same badge, just one is horizontal and one is vertical. Instant Teleport
It is written that the replacement for the instant teleport is the wrangler but isn't it the Eureka Effect? (sorry for my bad english) - Unown512 12:09, 25 February 2012 (PST)
- Although they function similarly, no, as it was to be the unlockable secondary for the Engineer. However, it wasn't added, being replaced by the Wrangler instead. Plus, the Instant Teleport would teleport to the teleporter exit, while the Eureka Effect teleports to the spawn (plus, it's a melee). – Epic Eric (T | C) 12:27, 25 February 2012 (PST)
new burning death animation?
Theres some death animations for all classes (except Pyro) labled as "primary_death_burning". Most seem overly dramatic, I'm not sure when these were added whats their purpose? Doktorpsyko 22:41, 30 June 2012 (PDT)
About the 'burning death' animations
Is it just me, or do the animations look more like them getting infected with some zombie virus than being burned to death? Rampage470 14:26, 23 January 2013 (PST)
Some stuff to be moved here, perhaps?
Stuff like the Revamped Assault cannon and all the 3 extra rocket launchers should have an unique page? The biggest difference of those weapons from the other ones that there is only the textures (something like the Tobor page). The Soldier rocket launchers has a lot of unused images (and VMT's), the Assault Cannon has plenty of files as well. We can also include that those weapons are sheenmap-compatible (the .vmts contains $sheenmap, if it works, I don't know, we don't have the models of those weapons to try it out).
Not to mention, that those weapons in Rocket Launcher and Minigun pages aren't accurate, this because they aren't really that weapon in an old shape (beta), they are different weapons, some just got from the TFC files while others have textures but no models, while others are remakes of the weapon.
Also, should we upload the sounds for the unused fortress_reel and fortress_reel_loop?
Thanks. Gabrielwoj (talk) 12:38, 6 May 2014 (PDT)
Future taunts
Based on what we're seeing with the Love & War Update, a lot of these taunts are going to be officially added to the game soon. Do they get removed from this page when that happens? Dogman15 (talk) 23:04, 17 June 2014 (PDT)
The Update Board
Within the files of TF2 there is an effect (props_teaser/update_billboard001) that I've never seen been used in a map before. If this has been used, notify me and I'll remove this. The billboard depicts images from all the class updates as well as 2 folders: one that reads "Don't open until [blurred text, may read August]. That means you, Soldier." The other folder reads "CLASSIFIED 11-12-1-19 2-1-11:2". The folder (props_teaser) also contains 2 more effects (update_poster001 and update_poster002). Poster 1 is blue, and shows a satellite dish on a row of building pointed at the moon, drawn in a cartoon style. Superimposed on the picture is "we sell products... MANN CO ... and get in fights." The second picture is red and has a cartoon-styled Pyro silhouette standing next to a building in a canyon, doing the primary stock taunt. The same words from the first poster are superimposed on the image. Both posters have curling corners and thumbtacks near each corner, as if they were to be pinned in a wall. If anyone knows what this is, please notify me. Otherwise, this is a major update teaser. Image here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=289589157 Sincerely yours, BombingPyro (talk) 19:40, 21 July 2014 (PDT)
- They've been in the game files for a while now, and they're used across various maps, though I can't remember any specifically off the top of my head. Either way, they are used, and have been around for a few months now. --Omolong (talk) 19:46, 21 July 2014 (PDT)
Unused Mannpower Icons
I stumbled upon a couple assumedly unused Mannpower powerup icons today. First is "Pestilence" (no red/blu team version). I'm guessing from name and general icon idea that it was the beta icon for plague:
And then "Thorns". This might be an unused transition from the warlock hat to reflect, since thorns are an icon for something that hurts you on touch.
Am I late? Excalibur10931 (talk) 11:36, 31 January 2016 (PST)
- Thorns was already discussed earlier, someone have found powerup models on GMOD files, but not on TF2's. The other one I haven't read anywhere. Honestly, if these are found on the TF2 Files, I think they can be added here and at Mannpower page. ▪ - 11:29, 3 February 2016 (PST)
Unused Stat Clock Animations
I saw on GameBanana there's a mod that gives new Stat Clock Textures that the author said he found in the files of the game. http://tf2.gamebanana.com/skins/144912 This should be here...right? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by SilentObserver01 (talk) • (contribs)
- Unless someone can actually dig into the game files to confirm this, we're not adding this until its confirmed. Ashes (talk) 06:19, 5 April 2016 (PDT)

Dynamite Pack a grenade?
Shortly before the game's release in 2007, the game's source code was leaked. It includes the scrapped Dynamite Pack, which was a secondary grenade. I only know this because of Pre Fortress 2, which might be wrong, but go play for yourself. Demoman's secondary weapon is a detonate-on-command grenade launcher in Pre Fortress 2, NOT the dynamite pack. I think that the Dynamite Pack should be moved to the Secondary Grenades section. Sausagea1000 (talk) 21:16, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
- If the source code says it's a secondary grenade, make it a secondary grenade. If the mod only says it, don't change it. The mod is not an official source.
GrampaSwood (talk) 21:17, 26 April 2020 (UTC)- We now have the 2017 source code and can verify easily what it is. The MIRV grenade was at one point a grenade. Then Valve decided it would be better as a secondary weapon. There's also the original 3-stick bundle of dynamite that the Demoman has in Trailer 1. That 3-stick bundle apparently was detonated with the Trigger. Also the article is for the content for Team Fortress 2. Things function differently in Pre-Fortress 2 than in TF2. 404UNF (talk) 21:41, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
- I forgot to even note; the MIRV is already listed as a secondary weapon and a grenade on this page, which is how it should be. 404UNF (talk) 21:47, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
- Alright thanks. Maybe next time I shouldn't take information from unofficial sources? Sausagea1000 (talk) 14:18, 27 April 2020 (UTC)
Waterfall Flamethrower and Face-Stabbing Dagger on TFConnect 2021
Sorry, I'm new to the wiki, and I don't want to accidentally break any rules, so I'll just leave it here for anyone to post on the main page. During the TFConnect 2021 stream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI6-8XtkL40, Jill, a valve employee, said this at 6:23 : "So... at one point there was a weapon that I prototyped, it's called like The Waterfall. And it was a flamethrower. And the Source Engine was very unhappy with it". Then, at 7:25: "The Waterfall was just a flamethrower that's had a lot of flame, but it fell with gravity" -so you stand up on the high ground, and drop it down on people? - "Yeah, I had a lot of fun with it in the playtest, and a lot of people thought it was kind of, like 'why is this avalanche flame coming down from nowhere and raining on my head' sort of thing" Also, a face-stabbing dagger at 5:40 by Robin and Jill. "... well, there's a weapon idea" -What, some kind of dagger that stabs from the front?- "Yeah, but to balance this, there are no backstabs" -We actually tried that, remember? It's terrible play, like the worst playtest ever- "The clip which was put on a blog". Uncle Dane: "Yeah, I remember to remember a GIF of somebody going out of spawn and getting spawned". Robin -Yeah, you couldn't walk out the front door. I think Dario [Casali] has had the most fun ever that day-

There are several redlinks on this page, including links to pages that were never created. Should such redlinks be removed?
Some examples: Mortar Launcher, DNA Gun and Conventional.
Tiagoquix (talk) 23:24, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- No, these simply need to be made at some point. The thing is usually that there is barely any info on these so not much info to go off of. If you find any and can source it properly feel free to make them.
