What does this weapon do again?
The weapon takes 10 health away from its user, but retains up to 20% of the Medic's ÜberCharge if he dies. This is equivalent to 8 seconds of healing with the Medigun on hurt targets. Despite logic, only 20% of the Medic's ÜberCharge before death is added (meaning if a Medic dies with 40% ÜberCharge, they will respawn with 8% ÜberCharge).
Is that true? I interpret the item description that if a medic dies with 40%, he spawns with 20%. (Also I'm not really happy with the wording of 'despite logic') --CruelCow 16:43, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
The description is wrong, and you are right, CruelCow. It retains 20% ubercharge, not 20% of your current ubercharge. So if you die with 10% uber, you respawn with 10% uber. If you die with 25% uber, you respawn with 20% uber. --gel
I have tried this weapon out today, and I can confirm that it does keep exactly 20% ubercharge if you have more than or equal to 20% when you die. Otherwise, it keeps whatever lower amount you have. --Ashsflames 02:03, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Hmm...that's weird. I used it and consistently only got 19% back. --oopicvm
Effect in Arena Mode.
If you die in Arena will you regain Übercharge in the next round or will it reset?--Piippo 17:31, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- You do not retain the Uber in Arena Mode. Danton 20:11, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- spoiler alert: do not use this in arena mode Potatoface (talk) 04:53, 27 July 2015 (PDT)
Übersaw effect?
Does this weapon add 25% Ubercharge with each successful melee hit a la Übersaw, or is it like the regular Bonesaw?
It does not.Subtlefuge 01:09, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Taunt
Anyone agree that this should have the old ubersaw taunt sounds? SandeProElite 13:23, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- That debate should stay in the forums --Firestorm 14:12, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
- Firstly, the ubersaw never had any taunt sounds, it was a stab taunt like the Spy's knife. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Richard2765 (talk) • contribs)
- First, use colons to tab your comments. Second, use --~~~~ to sign your comments. Third, The OLD Ubersaw taunt was like the bonesaw one, but with a deeper sound. Fourth, you can't use "Firstly" if you only have one point to make :D --Firestorm 05:16, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

- Told ya they're gonna add the old taunt to it! Sounds great now. --SandeProElite 11:59, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Uber Retain Glitch
Every time I use this I do not retain the 20% Uber. I retain 19% Uber. Just wanted to let you know. Danton 20:09, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- I had this problem today, seemingly after being auto-balanced. -- Comrade Mike 21:59, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Happened to me too. --oopicvm

Vita Saw's Origins
- The Vita Saw was a skin for the Ubersaw named the "Gentztucken Battle Needle"; this bit of trivia may spike some people's interests.

New Images?
Since this item's textures was altered with the last update, there should probably be new images to better represent what it looks like now. I personally don't notice a difference, but there apparently is one, so it might be worth updating the images to be as accurate as possible Balladofwindfishes 00:57, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
- The textures weren't updated, but the model was. When Valve added it to the game, the model had smoothing issues that made look horrible depending on the lighting, with highlights in the wrong places and such. A fix was sent, and they added it in the paint update. So yeah, new images are needed. IdleTard 16:38, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
Name Reference
Since we include mention of its Bioshock origin, would it be worth noting that the name "vita saw" comes from the Bioshock "vita-chambers" which allow the player to respawn? Obviously, the chambers have a direct connection to the function of the saw, seeing as they're associated with death/respawn. Lacysophia 23:16, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- You do know that 'vita' is latin for 'life', right? This isn't a reference to bioshock. Natemckn 23:17, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, it is. However, the fact that the saw itself is a direct reference to the game makes me suspect that the name may be as well. I find it hard to believe that the name "vita saw" would have been accepted if it weren't playing on the reference, but hey, what do I know? Lacysophia 05:57, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Beta Stats
This seems that this weapon needs its own beta history (like all the items that got tweaked in beta), containing all the tweaks and, if they have made into full TF2 tell about the previous variant.DrNightKOT - Translating ENG to RUS 18:58, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
- Nope.avi. There's a strict policy to keep beta information and actual game information separate. The exception to this is where the beta changes make their way to the actual game. --Focusknock 19:41, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
New Demonstration
Just a small detail I noticed, but this video shows the demonstration before it was fixed to retain 20% charge instead of19%. If anyone wants to fix this, just figured I'd point it out. ShadowGlove 11:17, 19 July 2011 (PDT)
The Store issue
Should the fact that this can be considered the only "Non-promotional" weapon to not be featured in the Mann Co. Store be mentioned in trivia? I'm just making sure, but there is the possibility that like the Promotional weapons, the fact that this is similar to the Bioshock weapon prevents it from being featured in the store, though it isn't specified.

- That would count as X of Y trivia so won't be allowed. Shame really, I genuinely think that's an interesting fact. » Cooper Kid (blether·contreebs) 15:01, 20 August 2011 (PDT)
Veeta or Vaita?
I've seen it been called both in the history. Which one? Kazzymodus 12:27, 6 September 2011 (PDT)
- There's a pronunciation guide in the first paragraph. It's pronounced with an i as in eye. » Cooper Kid (blether·contreebs) 14:18, 6 September 2011 (PDT)

- Yes, but who says that guide is correct? The version before the guide said Veeta. Kazzymodus 07:09, 7 September 2011 (PDT)
- Not to say this is conclusive, but vita as in vitality is the way it would be pronounced in German (and Germanic based languages like English, as opposite to latinate ones which would pronounce it veeta) and given that most of the Medics weapons have German pronounciations it is probably viata.MEDUNN 07:20, 7 September 2011 (PDT)

New Quote
In order to conserve the current quote for a future Bonesaw, I propose this one:
“ | Would you kindly move ya ass to the freakin' point?
Click to listen
— The Scout "encouraging" the Medic
|
” |
I feel it ties in with the theme better and provides a good alternative to a generic saw pun.
To clarify, it is acceptable for a different class to provide commentary on another class' weapon, such as the Hibernating Bear set and the Spy-cicle, as well as having an outside reference. 18:22, 6 May 2012 (PDT)
- It isn't bad, and we're lucky to have a quote of a class saying "would you kindly" at all. The only think I can think of suggesting is that maybe the flavor text be reworked a bit; perhaps linking "point" to mean the point of the needle, rather than the control point to which it actualy refers to. I don't know, just a thought.--Piemanmoo 21:24, 14 May 2012 (PDT)
