Why not include all contributions?

At the moment, it seems it only includes edits, not other types of contributions. For instance, Vasya has 14,170 contributions on WikiStats, but only 10,114 appears (edits from MediaWiki). As for me, I have 21,692 on WikiStats, but only 18,759 on the table. Any technical reasons? Actually, these values most likely comes from the same values that it appears on "Preferences". But what if the WikiStats data was used instead?
