Template talk:Dictionary/descriptions
Languages not supported by the wiki in the dictionary
Why are there Bulgarian (BG), Thai (TH), and Ukranian (UK) translations present in this dictionary if they are not supported by the Wiki? - BrazilianNut (talk) 14:56, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Add {{{3}}}
support
A lot of descriptions in "Other", under "Cosmetic items", are just the same thing with a number change. TF_TournamentMedal_Summer
and TF_TournamentMedal_Winter
are always "Summer [year]" and "Winter [year]", respectively. TF_TournamentMedal_Season
goes from 1 all the way to 50, and occupies about half of the section.
I believe we could (and should) make it so these support variable numbers, so instead of having ~20 translations x 50, we only have them once, freeing up precious space (friendly reminder that this template had once reached its size limit). - BrazilianNut (talk) 12:32, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- Agreed, I think these recurring descriptions could be added to an "Other" section.

- Is there a way to create a second descriptions dictionary that
{{item description}}
could work with? - BrazilianNut (talk) 01:52, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Sub-dictionaries for different types of items
What if, instead of putting all descriptions of all types of items together, we split the descriptions dictionary into multiple sub-dictionaries (similar to achievements), with one for cosmetics, one (or more)* for medals, one (or more)* for tools, etc.?
*For medals, we could split them into tournament medals and community medals. For tools, we could split them into crates, cases, keys, and other.

- Seeing as the only item descriptions added each year are just from a few tournament medals, it would make more sense to only have those in a separate dictionary if needed. As of right now, I'm not sure if this dictionary is anywhere close to hitting the limit, but I see no reason to split it up into subdictionaries. Unless you mean adding headers, in which case that would be fine imo.
