For all of the TF2 Class characters, their item sets do include references to the Imperial pasts of each of their cultures.

•  Heavy : Russian Empire / Soviet Empire
•  Medic : Germain Empire / Nazi Germany
•  Sniper : United Kingdom
•  Spy : French Empire (How come there is no French Foreign Legion item set?!?!?!)
•  Pyro : Spanish Empire / Mexican Empire (only class actually from the Badlands)
•  Demoman : Black Scots originate from Scotland being the center of the Slave Trade Triangle.
•  Scout : New England Nation, de facto capitol was Boston / Global Trade Empire

Boston became the Slave Trade Triangle center after the U.K. abolished slavery in the British Isles. Eventually, Boston became the center of U.S. Abolitionists.

New England's Abolitionists colonized the Plains Indians starting in Kansas in the 1850s.

•  Soldier : Post-WWII global U.S. hegemony
•  Engineer : Dixie Slavers colonized the Mexican Empire and Southern Indians.

• Japanese Empire?
• China? No. China was subject to all of the above empires under Unequal_treaties ... until Belt and Roads (oh, yeah, huge, global Imperial Liberation ambitions).
