Saturn IB

You are not wrong in noticing that the TF2 designers adapted famous features of the USA and NASA fleet of the late 50s and early 60s. And yes, their primary rocket model does feature the very peculiar fuel tank configuration of the Saturn IB, that arrangement being a specific compromise made to get certain missions to launch in time to keep the pace of the Kennedy schedule. The staging on the Doomsday model particularly evokes (posibly not a random choice) the fatal AS-204 mission with the Saturn IB lifting stage.

However, proportions are not exactly the same and the number of fins and engines of the model are quite different from the real rocket. Moreover, except for Doomsday, the rocket models are generally sized and presented as ICBMs. The models' engines do follow general US ICBM patterns.

But, however true, I haven't seen a place to mention it. Obviously, the US space program was nostalgic enough to the developers to reference it on most maps, so, no single map page is a place to mention it.

Please, continue to participate.
