- Woah! Well that was unexpected. I'm really happy seeing this, thank you! I sure like potatoes too. 03:37, 23 February 2015 (PST)
loadout-name
Ohai, I just noticed this edit and want to inform you that the loadout-name
parameter is redundant if the actual loadout name is identical to the one in the dictionary. It's just there for adding noun markers in the box (for example, while the German "Kurvenkämpfer" is saved in the dictionary, the loadout name is "Der Kurvenkämpfer").
Don't apply the changes suggested in my list in all cases ;) Warnings are just there to indicate that there may be something wrong.
Oh, and I'd recommend you to use French headlines directly instead of constructs with {{common string}}
. First, I think it's faster to type (well, it's a guess) and you might confuse new French editors. Thank you --
As always, feel free to respond, join the IRC or add me on Steaml

- I'll do it like what you said, but yes, the missing
loadout-name
disturbed me a bit. I know how they work, but now I'll add it only if It's necessary. - Same for
{{common string}}
, not using it anymore. - Thank you for the advice, that's the second time you are helping me! 14:55, 27 February 2015 (PST)
Item images
Hey, nice work on the Asymmetric Accolade images, but, I noticed that your HLMV is not at maximum settings right now, for Example, the Heavy here has low resolution shirt, emblem and bullets, the other classes affects as well (Such as the Spy tie and the class emblems). Try looking at your dxlevel.cfg, you can borrow mine if you need, maybe it fixes the problem. ▪ - 06:55, 5 March 2015 (PST)
- Oh right! Let me take a look at this and I'll see what happens. 07:40, 5 March 2015 (PST)
- Well, you can try mine if you want: http://www.mediafire.com/download/hqmp1w6m5d3f35w/dxsupport.cfg - I haven't updated this submission, but I also haven't touched my dxsupport.cfg in a while. ▪ - 07:48, 5 March 2015 (PST)
- Thanks for the file, it worked! Is it fine now? If yes, I'am going to rerender the others later. (I Even manage to get a better aliasing, hurray!)
- Not really, the texture isn't quite right, the eyes are now gray (problem with dxsupport.cfg). Take a look at Help:HLMV page to configure the .cfg file, have you done a backup before using mine? (I forgot to mention to do that). Here's how it should look: [1] ▪ - 10:20, 5 March 2015 (PST)
- Well... I've been trying to fix this for a while now with both ways - Graphics card settings and dxsupport.cfg - and It didn't work. I got my Vendor ID (10DE) & my Device ID (1184), putting it in "NVidia Unknown" (I have an NVidia GeForce GTX 770), then adding the lines from step 7... Not working. And I can't explain why it slightly worked with your file. Seems like a dead end... 12:10, 5 March 2015 (PST)
- What text editor do you use? I remember I configured the configuration by replacing the default options for all/most sections, not only Unknown video cards. Notepad++ can replace multiple stuff, so it's possible to make the long-tired work faster. What I mean is that configuring dxlevel.cfg with notepad++ is easier, as you can edit various parts together and not one by one. It took me a while to finally made dxsupport to support high-quality textures and with no gray eyes. I remember I've done some images with no-high quality before, which I had to replace it later. ▪ - 18:33, 5 March 2015 (PST)
- Side note from me here. While there shouldn't be any issues with forcing HLMV to use the high quality textures, it's possible that you'll still get the issue with the grey eyes. I did some testing a while back and found that it's somehow connected to forcing high quality textures, but it only shows up on certain hardware/software combinations (though I am wondering if it's Nvidia related). I personally wouldn't worry too much about the issues with the grey eyes, it's only the textures that are a big deal. Here's my dxsupport.cfg, which is definitely set up to use the high quality textures. I have an "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580" (as it's listed in the file), if that helps to confirm the settings for you. --Omolong (talk) 18:46, 5 March 2015 (PST)
- Well, his old image didn't had the gray eye issue, but the new one using my dxsupport.cfg has. Just wanted to note. ▪ - 18:49, 5 March 2015 (PST)
- Yes, I am using Notepad++, and I am sorry to tell that your file, Omolong, have the same effect than the Gabrielwoj's one; textures are - a bit - better and gives gray eyes. Also, I've discovered that adding in the line
"14"
named"vid mem [256-infinity)"
the command"ConVar.mat_picmip" "-10"
was the result of the gray eyes/textures slightly better, and the only command working in"NVidia Unknown"
is for the anti-aliasing. HLMV is not an exact science, eh? Guess I will not be able to upload item-images on the wiki... But thank you for trying to help me, Gabrielwoj & Omolong! 01:21, 6 March 2015 (PST)- Oops... The Heavy was having high quality textures - since Gabrielwoj shared with me the support.cgf - but the position of Heavy's spine showed textures more blurry than usual (I've used the first frame of the animation
selectionMenu_Anim01
). Here is a comparative with both Heavies using same config. So yeah, the only issue I have now are with the eyes, but as Omolong said, It only happens when forcing high quality textures for some config. Maybe I will upload more item-images now? Anyway, thanks a lot for helping me. 13:53, 6 March 2015 (PST)- It's better than nothing. Also, I'll be doing experiments, I'm going to do some texture edits about the eyes so I can see if I can fix it with texture changes. It's quite strange how the eye_iris.vtf (and their colors) are. They have gray eyes in the corners, but something in tf2 make them white. I'll try editing, I guess, but, I won't be able to test it because I don't have this problem on HLMV. Edit: Pingwins, can you send your dxsupport.cfg? I'll use yours to see if I get the gray eye issue for try fixing it with the texture edits. ▪ - 17:48, 6 March 2015 (PST)
- Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/download/3jqpa5y7jjoc617/dxsupport.cfg. But I'm warning you, the only lines I've changed are the line
"14"
namedvid mem [256-infinity)
and"NVidia Unknown"
. But the result of the gray eyes is forcing the high textures (with"ConVar.mat_picmip" "-10"
), so I think It's probably a problem with my devices (NVidia related?). 02:43, 7 March 2015 (PST)- It's still worth the try, thanks. ▪ - 04:36, 7 March 2015 (PST)
- Oh right, so I fixed the eyes by editing the VTF file, using photoshop (with a simple auto-contrast) and I think It's looking good now. Here is a little picture. Here is a link to the VTF File. 07:35, 8 March 2015 (PDT)
- Are the irises also affected by the problem? I don't know. If it isn't, maybe you should only edit the white area. Also, sorry for not doing it before, I had to reinstall my operational system and all their programs again. Glad there is a workaround being made for. Edit: I actually know how to enable and siable the gray eyes for my ATI video card, so I'll use your file and check if it's ok (if it matches the vanilla eyes). ▪ - 08:00, 8 March 2015 (PDT)
- Yes, the irises are a bit darker, but my fix is just a temporary solution; if there is a real way to fix it, I'll use it. And don't be sorry, you can take your time. Thanks for investigating. 09:27, 8 March 2015 (PDT)
- I'll try adjusting it later. ▪ - 09:35, 8 March 2015 (PDT)
- I tried myself, I couldn't get the perfect match, the eyes weren't reflecting as it should be, and it was still a bit dark than the original texture. I tried editing some .vmt values, but nothing worked yet. ▪ - 17:57, 11 March 2015 (PDT)
- Thanks for trying, but as I say, you can take your time and take a break. Maybe there is no solutions right now, HLMV is an old software. 22:01, 11 March 2015 (PDT)
