What's in the Companion Square Box? is an action item given to the Comic-Con San Diego 2012 attendants who purchased a Companion Square toy made by ThreeA Toys and redeemed the exclusive Steam code included with the toy. It appears in the backpack as a purple gift box with lime polka dots tied with a fuchsia ribbon. A Name Tag is attached with a question mark.
The in-game item became openable following the September 21, 2012 Patch. Upon opening, it gives a Friends Forever Companion Square Badge and a Triple A Badge, both in Genuine quality.

Trivia
- At the convention, approximately 300 replica Sandviches were sold alongside the 300 Companion Squares. [citation needed]
- Many of the merchandise items purchased at the booth were signed by the booth attendants: Template:W, Andrew Wilson, Bill Fletcher, Laura Dubuk and Wade Schin.
- Bill Fletcher and Laura Dubuk, the face models for the Portal 2 personas Cave Johnson and Caroline respectively, appeared in costume while signing.
