在防守时,机枪手相当于一堵阻挡着敌方攻击的高墙。机枪手在有医生或者补给器加持下能更好的防守。娜塔莎转轮机枪在敌方依靠高速职业来快速冲击防线时尤其有用。由于机枪手缓慢的移动速度使他在抵达他的目标位置前很容易被解决掉。然而,机枪手有时并不会暴露他的位置,汤姆斯拉夫的无声杀手效果让机枪手获得在拐角处当哑巴老六的能力,偷袭所有不及时回头查看的敌人。

防守中至关重要的职业,工程师(和他的步哨枪)是阻拦敌方冲锋的主力,前提是他的队友保护工程师免受一些特定兵种的袭击。比如一个使用恰当的无敌可以轻松摧毁掉他的步哨枪如果没有火焰兵用压缩空气吹走他们的话或者有爆炸物的职业没有把医生击退也会这样。间谍永远是独狼工程师的最大威胁,但是间谍可以被仔细的观察和一名优秀的Spy-checker轻松反制。如果你的队伍有多个工程师,则推荐把步哨枪放在不同点位,以此可以防止多个步哨同时被范围伤害溅射到。

无论是平常的治疗人的医生还是“战斗医生”都是防守的好手段。在防守中闪电战医疗枪的作用可能会比医疗枪更大,对比之下,无敌只会暂时停止住敌人的攻击并逼迫他们撤退,而一个释放得当的爆击可以快速摧毁敌方的整个攻势。不过无敌还是有其作用的,可以用来与敌方的无敌对冲或者摧毁敌方的前线阵地。

狙击手在防守中的作用很明显:狙人。如果看见有人试图冲击你的阵地,狙他,能爆头最好,尽量减少敌方的支援兵种。如果地图比较小而且没有很好的掩体尝试把狙击步枪换成猎人短弓瓶手道在防守中非常有用,进攻方的攻势通常是以小队为单位的,一个恰到好处的尿瓶可以让你的队友快速解决掉他们。在狙人时,敌方医生一般是最优先的目标,特别是那些无敌已经准备好了的医生,有时爆头一个医生可能会扭转一整局的形势。机枪手是对防守方防线的巨大冲击力量而你的大狙可以让他瞬间消失。

尽管间谍一般是作为辅助的兵种,他在防守中也可以大方色彩。偷偷潜行到敌方部队后方然后背刺掉重要兵种,比如说医生,机枪手,可以为你的队伍减轻压力。与狙击手相似,背刺掉一个准备好无敌的医生可以粉碎敌方的一整个攻势。机枪手和士兵是前线的主力单位,好巧不巧,他们的低移动速度导致他们可以轻松的被你背刺掉。在爆破手忙于摧毁步哨枪时背刺他们可以有效的拯救友方工程师和他的建筑。此外,间谍还可以摧毁敌方的传送装置来延缓敌人的攻势。

通用防守策略

  • 检查每一个进出口。总有一个进入你基地的路没有被你的队友顾及到。让间谍和医生火焰兵组合趁虚而入并撕碎你们的防线。给每个区域相当的防守是成功的关键。
  • 每张地图都有由开阔空间变为狭窄巷子的地区。这些“咽喉”处可以通过长时间驻守来有效抵挡敌方队伍推进。
  • 偷袭也是一种防守策略。在门后或者通往目标点的拐角处偷袭有很大机会让你解决掉比你自己更强的职业。比如说,一名被偷袭的机枪手基本上等于一具尸体。
  • 由侧翼攻击在防守和进攻中都是一种很有效的手段。当敌方队伍忙于冲击你们的防线,哪怕是一支小的突袭队伍由后方突击都可以粉碎甚至全灭敌方的队伍。
  • 在有5个控制点的地图中推进,比如说Badlands(控制点)Granary(控制点),最好的防守往往是进攻。用自杀式袭击解决掉敌方的医生,士兵和爆破手是延缓敌方攻势的有效手段。自杀式袭击指靠近敌方玩家然后以任何手段解决你的目标,哪怕代价是死亡。一般这种工作是由侦察兵,间谍或者火焰兵来完成的。这可能听起来荒谬,但是如果你成功击杀足够多的核心职业,他们往往会放弃进攻,给你的队伍喘息的机会。
  • 在防守时,如果有人数上的优势将会很有利于防守。但是如果抱团行动,敌方的士兵,爆破手会更容易突破你们的防线,所以尽量分散一点。
  • 一个混入防线后的间谍对最坚固的防御也是致命打击。经常检查间谍来保证你在防守时不被背刺掉。
  • 保持移动。站立不动会让你更容易被击中,尤其对于狙击手。
  • 如果进攻方队伍的医生成功的释放了无敌给他们的机枪手,士兵,火焰兵或者爆破手,你们的防线无疑会被摧毁。敌方的医生同时也会不断治疗他的队伍来延长战斗时间。为了防止上述事件发生,优先干掉对方的医生。
