Help wanted!
Greetings, Luno. You are "wanted"!
- Fact 1: The Unusual page has been using new templates to replace the old one since June 19, 2020. And the old template is going to be deleted in the (near) future.
- Fact 2: The Unusual/fr page would be important and useful for French players.
- Fact 3: The Unusual/fr page hasn't been updated since February 17, 2019.
- Fact 4: Dereko loves Luno's arkwork. It's amazing!
- Solution: Update Unusual/fr when you are free (with your companions) and be the Hero!
Good work

If that is the best resolution from the model, that is all I could ask for. It does look better. I use it here: Remembering 68.
You could add it to List of posters, now. And use the statement in the summary.
but ...
The whole bulletin board, you say? Have you uploaded that?

Bread Space Posters
Hello! I was informed by Mikado on my talk page that you had Bread Space posters and textures extracted and were ready to upload them. I was going to upload the posters and textures this Saturday, but if you already have them then do you want to go ahead and upload them to the wiki? I don't want to create any duplicate files, so if you can't upload them before Saturday I'll upload them. Hopefully if we can coordinate, they're won't be any confusion. Andrew360 00:00, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
- Yes I do have all the files ready, I'm converting them so they do not lose any detail, I saw you were doing Swiftwater as well and I do have those as well, since the public version of Swiftwater is protected against asset ripping I took mine from a prior version and by the looks of it the only difference I have right now is the Better Wives ad, mine is older and I am curious where you found yours? I might still upload mine though.
Luno 00:41, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

- I found the Swiftwater files in the texture.dir of the game in the βswiftβ folder. Also where does it say Swiftwater is protected against assets ripping? I donβt think any map in the game isnβt allowed to be ripped considering the files can be found and the game is free. Andrew360 01:45, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
- You can now view my breadspace uploads from here, some maps might be protected to prevent reusing assets or finding map exploits, this is up to the author of the map, that said I still found most relevant files.
Luno 01:49, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

- Ah ok, thanks for letting me know about the asset protection, and for uploading the Breadspace files. Many thanks for the uploads. Andrew360 01:56, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

- I made the gallery, check breadspace, also remade the collage image, there is only one poster I could not locate, marked as unused, maybe you'll have more luck finding it.
Luno 22:23, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

- Thank you, hugely! I will try to complete a full review by end of play Sunday.
- I might try to tighten up the captions. In gallery captions, in the Style and my preference is less than 5 lines, less than 4 is better. Precise location is not necessary; "in First/Second/Final RED Spawn" does it for me, for example. Let the reader commit a little to the hunt.
- GJ on the improving the collage image! THX!

Community MVM Mission Tables
Hi there, I've recently converted mission tables for community MVM operations to use a dedicated template for each campaign from now on. That will stop localized pages from having to use their own, potentially outdated separate tables, and keep everything consistent between translated operation articles. What I need you to do is, since you were doing French translations, please add the rest of the French translations you can to the Mann vs. Machine community operation tables common string set. I've already added the ones that were visually used in the table you translated, but you'll need to fill in the rest. Thank you! β 01:53, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
- Done β , poke me if you need anything else, I don't usually edit dictionary strings since they get quite long and laggy, but this was acceptable.

Blurry Image
Hello. I noticed you replaced the Heavy Heating infobox picture as it was requested by an improveimage
tag. While your image does look good, I just want to mention that you have a blurry problem on HLMV. Actually, on the 200k picture, I already noticed this problem, but I didn't mention anything since it was just an "UserPage" image, and not something for an official item article, so I didn't want to sound too nitpicky with that one. I don't know the solution as to how to fix the blur problem on regular HLMV, I do know that, when I had two monitors on my Laptop, I had my higher resolution monitor set as the secondary one, and the smaller resolution as the main one, this caused issues with the blur back then. If that's the case, make sure the high resolution monitor is set as your primary one. If that's not the case, then I suggest using HLMV++, as that fixes the blur issues along other problems. - βͺ - 14:25, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hey Gabriel, I haven't noticed any blur, I am using HLMV with all the recommended settings and fixes applied, I also only have one monitor and its 1080p, are you sure you are not seeing blur caused by caching problems that cause pictures to use the previous version's dimensions? Do flag any blurry images I may have uploaded, and I may stop uploading anything as long as I can't figure this out, here is a link to the Heavy pose in HLMV++
(βοΈ Temporary OneDrive link). Only issue I found with the ++ is version is that there seems to be a lot of blinky artifacts around Heavy's textures (face, gloves), more noticeable than in regular HLMV, that might just be me though. And if by blur you mean the lack of sharpness it could always be Paint.NET compressing some sharpness off, idk, also sorry for the wait I had to revamp my signature.
Luno πͺππ Talk / Contributions / Team 17:27, 12 December 2022 (UTC)- Hmm, it seems you have the same problem as ThatHatGuy? Try loading the
models\workshop\player\items\all_class\robotarm_silver\robotarm_silver.mdl
model and send me a screenshot of it. No, I can see the blur, it's not a problem with the cache, as I also noticed on your 200k loadout pic. Use the built-in "Options -> Make Screenshot..." on HLMV++ to make screenshots, maybe this will result in better quality, and make sure to max everything out on the Render tab (see this section of the guide). You can also try reverting the .cfg file to default (by verifying the integrity of files via Steam on TF2, and then only doing the HLMV++ part without modifying the .cfg file). You can use HLMV++ as your preferred model viewer tool, as it results in better transparency by using the screenshot tool. If you are using the fix for the grey cornea, make sure to remove it as HLMV++ doesn't have that problem, and will result in overly bright eyes if that fix is kept in tf/custom. - βͺ - 17:40, 12 December 2022 (UTC)- Check the link again, added two files. - Yeah, this is the same issue that ThatHatGuy has. I posted on the HLMV++ bug report, and someone said that putting HLMV++ to Battery Saving solved the issue (which isn't unusual since I also did that when I had my Laptop, as it fixed the grey cornea issue on regular HLMV). Follow this guide and set both HLMV and HLMV++'s .exe files to "Power saving", and see if it fixes it. This most likely won't fix the blur problem on regular HLMV, but may fix the tearing issue on some parts of the model on both programs, like in that robotarm_silver medal. - βͺ - 22:30, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- P.S.: You need to select "Classic app" to select an .exe from that Windows setting. - βͺ - 22:31, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- Done, you can check the link again, tell me if you see any improvement. Luno πͺππ Talk / Contributions / Team 23:02, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, sadly, nothing has changed. Andrew sent me pictures of his HLMV with and without power saving and it did work for him. I do think that the small tearing is not much of a big deal compared to the blur issue. In reality, the blur issue might have made more difficult to notice these in the first place, since it's also there on regular HLMV, if you look closely on the robotarm_silver medal. I didn't knew you already did older pictures before the Heavy Heating one, but well, I don't think the small tearing is much of a big deal, unless it's very apparent like the robotarm_silver one. I would suggest doing one last picture, a new version of the Heavy Heating image, but taken both on HLMV and HLMV++, with the same angle, animations, and so forth. Do the facial flexing on the HLMV++ version, but there's not much need for the HLMV version as it's just for comparison. I'll let the HLMV++ dev know about that the power saving method did not work for two people so far, however, there is a possibility this is a hardware issue and not a software issue. Thanks. - βͺ - 21:38, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
- Also, I was talking about the same thing with ThatHatGuy before. You can read it here: User_talk:Gabrielwoj#Strange_Tearing_w.2FNVIDIA_Card, it has a couple things I didn't suggested here, as I don't know your graphics card, NVIDIA I presume. - βͺ - 21:42, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

- I was about to go do the Heavy Heating in HLMV when I noticed Microsoft Defender did a cloud scan on the exe, it seems that HLMV was updated to Dec 7 2022 build, I wonder what that means since I don't recall HLMV getting updates, anyways I'll post the pictures in the same link when I am done.

- Yeah, the HLMV++ ones look better. As mentioned, both regular HLMV and ++ have the same tearing problem, it's just that regular HLMV has the blur so it's harder to see, so I would go with ++, and the tearing is not too noticeable, at least not on the Heavy model. Also, did you extract the game files to load the models? I noticed the window title showing the full path for hwm/heavy.mdl. Use "(Steam) Load Model..." instead and load it from there, it's recommended. If for some reason Valve update the player models or any cosmetics (with "Add [Steam]" on the Submodel tab), the Steam Load model method will always use the one from the game files directly. You can delete the OneDrive files. - βͺ - 01:29, 18 December 2022 (UTC)

Well, the reason why I extract everything and keep the whole thing up to date after each update is because it allows to use the more convenient interface of the File Explorer, the UI given by HLMV and ++ has no sorting option, so you'd have to scroll trough and know the exact name of the item's model, and HLMV has the problem that has you downloading a fix so you can actually open most models.
File Explorer allows for fast searches and sorting, although I used to use the Steam option I'm actually glad I switched, and since I use TFMV for painted items (rarely), I doubt it would launch ++ instead of HLMV.
That said I will use ++ from now on as I've used Hammer++ in the past, if you have the time, do show me which pictures I made that I should redo, even though I should focus more on translating a lot of stuff in French, there is still a lot of stuff for me to do.

Style translation switch
Hi,
In reference of this.
You can check an item string name for each style in the code behind the style table:
== Styles ==
{{Styles table
| image1 = RED Glasgow Bankroll Plaid.png
| image2 = RED Glasgow Bankroll Pinstripes.png
| image3 = RED Glasgow Bankroll Plain.png
| style1 = Plaid - Glasgow Bankroll
| style2 = Pinstripes
| style3 = Plain - Glasgow Bankroll
}}
In this example, the string would be:
{{item name|Plaid - Glasgow Bankroll}}
{{item name|Pinstripes}}
{{item name|Plain - Glasgow Bankroll}}
If you wish to see all the string names for each item/style/quality/etc. you can refer them in the dictionary.

Leaked content
Hi there,
Please see this page for our policies on leaked content. Any leaked content is to be referred to via text only, no uploads, screenshots, links to any leaked content and no remakes of leaked content.
GrampaSwood (talk) 19:18, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- I have already read the policy and did not deem it clear enough as the content in question is in the release of the game (psd aside), at the very least I was honest about it and my only intent was to improve the original image due to the simulated shadowing which reflected as poor quality.
- Take care. Luno πͺπ Talk / Contributions / Team 19:34, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
Crowdin translation
Hi Luno!
First of all, thanks for your contributions in the /fr
section of the wiki. However, I'd like to point out that when translating official patch notes, please use the Crowdin translations, since these are the ones that are officially used by Valve. This is in reference to your recent patch note translation.
Yossef β’ Talk 16:21, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Well, first of all, since when does Valve translate patch notes if they show up in English only on both Steam and the official blog?
- Also, this kind of puts me out of a job, if one could say that, and I hope they wonβt start translating other pages in my stead and overwrite all my works.
- The person in charge of these alternative translations should probably apply them themselves on the wiki since I do not have access to Crowdin.
- Thank you for the warning, though. I will suspend patch translations on my end. Luno πͺπ Talk / Contributions / Team 16:30, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Valve opted to use Crowdin, after they took Steam Translation Server (aka STS) down, like a year and a half ago. In Crowdin is where the official translations (names/patches/etc.) are made, keep in mind that this is a community-run wiki, hence we need to adapt to their translations. Crowdin won't (as far as I know) translate wiki articles, so no need to worry about that. Lastly, you can create an account in Crowdin, and join "Valve's Workplace"; over there you give advices/comments to the French Crowdin mods.
- Yossef β’ Talk 17:43, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Really, I was not aware STS was taken down, even though I never quite had the chance to use it since they made you translate 3 pages worth of text under 20 minutes to get in, and even then it was not guaranteed, so I opted to just do stuff on the wiki at my own pace.
- Do we have a bot to pull Crowdin patches, or are you the one that has to do it?
- I have noticed some odd translations in the localization so that might explain the change of platform, I donβt quite see myself joining it anytime since there is still a lot of stuff to do here and its not like the /fr section has a lot of active native members.
- They could have pulled their translations from our wiki, seems like unnecessary work on their end since they don't even use multi lingual patches as far as I know. Luno πͺπ Talk / Contributions / Team 18:01, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- There is no bot that import Crowdin translation patches, we have to manually do it. I noticed that some past /fr patch translations does not match the ones shown in Crowdin, as my French is extremely limited, I was wondering if you could give us a hand adapting those Crowdin patch translations into the wiki.
- Regardless, I see what you mean, but in the end of the day, we have to adhere whatever Valve decides to use, in this case Crowdin.
- Yossef β’ Talk 18:41, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- I do not know how many patches were done on Crowdin, but I can assure you that none of the patches under my name were sourced from there. Assuming I had access to those patches, that would mean overwriting all the patches I spent time on, which feels wrong as there seems to even be trade-offs between my version and Crowdinβs.
- It sounds like it would require a lot of work to adapt, as this probably affects a lot of pages. I would suggest either leaving current patches alone or creating a special tag that would ask me to verify patches ported over and apply fixes as needed.

- Well, thank you! And sorry for the late reply. I took the time to remake a section in my profile. It means a lot coming from someone who speaks a language I'm not very familiar with. I can only assume you've taken an interest in French?
- I wish you luck with your area of expertise on the wiki and pleasant holidays.

- Though I also don't speak French, I see a lot of other translators take up action on the new smissmas contents like I do and most of them are old faces so I think, yeah show some appreciation would be cool.ProfiteerοΌε₯ΈεοΌthe tryhard (talk) 16:07, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

Lolimsogreat21 | Wikichievement unlocked! After I came back from my rather large wiki-break of over2 years, I was pleasantly surprised to see that you are still hacking away at the french part of the wiki, one large edit at the time. And since you are probably the only french translator right now (with the exception of Marx), your work has gone almost entirely unnoticed, which is downright criminal! I give you this as a recognition of your hard and silent work. Keep doing the good edits, I am certain that one day, the entire wiki will come to recognize your efforts :D |
