While it makes sense for a Sentry to cost 130 metal to teleport, is this cost consistent for all buildings, such as Dispensers and Mini Sentries?

The Rescue grab Costs 130 metal regardless of building grabbed, It also cannot repair mini-sentry's. It can repair allied buildings and it only consumes ammo for the repair, not metal.--Nintyuk 08:47, 21 December 2012 (PST)

The current behaviour is that healing 4 HP costs 1 metal. If the Engineer has insufficient metal, healing is reduced to match; if he has no metal at all, there is equally no healing. The Pyro has no metal. Therefore, it is logical that the Pyro cannot heal buildings by reflecting bolts, as he has no metal with which to do so.

Just to help: If you want to move your nest (All your machinery) with a Rescue Ranger, you first want to collect at least 130 metal so that you can teleport buildings. Now, you want to teleport your dispenser so that you can collect the 130 metal again to teleport all your buildings to where you want.

Monitor and bolts
It looks like the monitor (it's an oscilloscope, by the way) is supposed to tell the player if they have enough metal to 'rescue' their buildings. The wave is at its highest when the player has 200 metal, and gradually flattens out until they have less than 130 metal (and can't rescue). It also looks like the bolts the gun shoots can pin ragdolls to walls, like the Huntsman and Crusader's Crossbow. --Pakaku 17:20, 21 December 2012 (PST)

:: I believe these bolts can also be reflected. I was in a fight with an engineer that had one and got a reflect kill on him. == Is it really a bug? ==

I noted that under bugs it said "The "Fires a special bolt that can repair friendly buildings" attribute listed as on-wearer attribute." However, that is something it actually does. Is it not supposed to be listed as an attribute, not supposed to occur at all, or just an error on the person who added it to the bug list? Lemonysnicket 18:08, 1 January 2013 (PST)

:Similar attribute on Crusader's Crossbow, "Fires special bolts that heal teammates and deal damage based on distance traveled" but when you equipped crossbow, it doesn't have this attribute on-wearer but Rescue Ranger does. Also that attribute doesn't have anything look like on-wearer attribute like 10% faster moving speed or +1 hp regeneration on wearer. That's the reason why I added it to bug section. == "Dead zone" for picking up buildings ==

If you are wielding the Rescue Ranger, but close enough that you would normally be able to pick up the building with Mouse2, you can do so without expending any metal. Additionally, if you are very far away, you can do the Alt-fire to pick up the building at the cost of 130 metal. However, there is a spot just outside the range at which you could normally pick up the building where neither method works. This may be a bug, or it may be intentional so that an Engineer knows when he gets close enough that he can pick it up at no cost. I don't know whether this would go into the "Bugs" or "Trivia" section, or perhaps it would be better in the weapon's explanation at the top of the page? I understand how you get marked for death using this to pick up your buildings, but is it really supposed to mark you even if you pick up manually while you have your wrench or secondary out? or is that more of a side-effect bug? :Seems more of an overall balance feature. Since the effect to teleport is merely a "teleport port to you" you're still technically holding it. Same if you manually carry. Its just balancing issues. wouldn't say its a bug.Ashes 12:03, 10 January 2013 (PST)

I believe that the icon should stay as the headshot icon because if it hits you in the head and is a crit, it will show the icon. For example, The Ambassador doesn't show an Ambassador headshot icon but instead the one you would see if you shot someone with a sniper rifle.

Reflection behaviour in 2024

I had my edit reverted saying that "it's expected that the reflected projectiles behave identically", and I'm here to contest that by saying they do.

Was this a bug for previous versions of the weapon, where the healing was free? Yes. Is it a bug now? No, it's working the same as when the Engineer has no metal. Toomai Glittershine 22:03, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

It's still a bug because before the change, it wouldn't either, which means (just like any other airblasted projectile) some of the attributes don't carry over. Until they fix that and it still doesn't heal, I would say it should still be put as a bug, especially because they very easily could make it heal without metal for an airblast as an upside.
