Is the Metal cost the same for all buildings?
While it makes sense for a Sentry to cost 130 metal to teleport, is this cost consistent for all buildings, such as Dispensers and Mini Sentries?
It's also worth checking out if the bolts can repair Mini Sentries. Bralef 08:42, 21 December 2012 (PST)
The Rescue grab Costs 130 metal regardless of building grabbed, It also cannot repair mini-sentry's. It can repair allied buildings and it only consumes ammo for the repair, not metal.--Nintyuk 08:47, 21 December 2012 (PST)
Just to help: If you want to move your nest (All your machinery) with a Rescue Ranger, you first want to collect at least 130 metal so that you can teleport buildings. Now, you want to teleport your dispenser so that you can collect the 130 metal again to teleport all your buildings to where you want. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kidspinach505 (talk) • (contribs) 28 December 2012

Rough Damage Values :NOT FOR MAIN PAGE:
The gun seems to have the shotguns damage fall off with a minimum of 18 damage at max range, at point blank it was doing around 55 damage but with most shots being around 35 damage.--Nintyuk 08:44, 21 December 2012 (PST)
Eureka Effect
I have yet to obtain the Rescue Ranger to test this myself, but does anyone know if the RRs ability works with the Eureka Effect equipped? Might be some notable information for both item pages. 10:49, 21 December 2012 (PST)
- If you mean the hauling ability, then no, you can't rescue with the EE equipped. But you can still heal buildings. --Pakaku 17:18, 21 December 2012 (PST)
Actually, if you equip the Eureka Effect with the Rescue Ranger, you won't be able to pick up buildings and will still use the Eureka Effect's effect to send you back to spawn. --Titanz
Monitor and bolts
It looks like the monitor (it's an oscilloscope, by the way) is supposed to tell the player if they have enough metal to 'rescue' their buildings. The wave is at its highest when the player has 200 metal, and gradually flattens out until they have less than 130 metal (and can't rescue). It also looks like the bolts the gun shoots can pin ragdolls to walls, like the Huntsman and Crusader's Crossbow. --Pakaku 17:20, 21 December 2012 (PST)

- I believe these bolts can also be reflected. I was in a fight with an engineer that had one and got a reflect kill on him. It said it was a reflected arrow but then again, if it has the same properties of pinning people to walls, it would make sense as there was no one else around. Could someone test this as I am not currently in possession of one. Encouragement Pyro 19:40, 23 December 2012 (PST)
- I can definitely confirm the bolts can be reflected. --Pakaku 17:54, 24 December 2012 (PST)
- They can -definitely- be reflected. They even have a kill icon for it, which I uploaded: File:Killicon deflect rrbolt.png Thing is, I don't know how to get it into all the lists where it should be. Hopefully someone else can do this. --Bollythewolf 05:36, 28 December 2012 (PST)

Just a question: Are there models for the projectiles shot from the Rescue Ranger? Lud1colo 17:18, 28 December 2012 (PST)
- So that we can see the models on the wiki. If someone could do that it would be great. Lud1colo 15:24, 3 January 2013 (PST)
- Never mind. The projectiles have been posted. Lud1colo 19:39, 25 February 2013 (PST)
Attack type.
Iv'e been wondering. It looks like it hits instantly, but I don't know if it's a hitscan or a projectile. Can someone tell me? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by ValVe102 (talk) • (contribs)
- Projectile. Similar to that of the crossbow and huntsman. Majority of hitscan weapons are bullet based. Ashes 21:07, 28 December 2012 (PST)
Is it really a bug?
I noted that under bugs it said "The "Fires a special bolt that can repair friendly buildings" attribute listed as on-wearer attribute." However, that is something it actually does. Is it not supposed to be listed as an attribute, not supposed to occur at all, or just an error on the person who added it to the bug list? Lemonysnicket 18:08, 1 January 2013 (PST)
- Similar attribute on Crusader's Crossbow, "Fires special bolts that heal teammates and deal damage based on distance traveled" but when you equipped crossbow, it doesn't have this attribute on-wearer but Rescue Ranger does. Also that attribute doesn't have anything look like on-wearer attribute like 10% faster moving speed or +1 hp regeneration on wearer. That's the reason why I added it to bug section. "Dead zone" for picking up buildings
If you are wielding the Rescue Ranger, but close enough that you would normally be able to pick up the building with Mouse2, you can do so without expending any metal. Additionally, if you are very far away, you can do the Alt-fire to pick up the building at the cost of 130 metal. However, there is a spot just outside the range at which you could normally pick up the building where neither method works. This may be a bug, or it may be intentional so that an Engineer knows when he gets close enough that he can pick it up at no cost. I don't know whether this would go into the "Bugs" or "Trivia" section, or perhaps it would be better in the weapon's explanation at the top of the page? Vaati 006 10:26, 4 January 2013 (PST)
- This may be two and a half years late, but I've determined that the maximum normal building pickup range is 150 HU, while the minimum Rescue Ranger building pickup range is 250 HU. So there's a 100HU gap where it's impossible to pick up the building with either method. Sigsegv2 (talk) 19:28, 12 August 2015 (PDT)
marked for death a bug?
I understand how you get marked for death using this to pick up your buildings, but is it really supposed to mark you even if you pick up manually while you have your wrench or secondary out? or is that more of a side-effect bug? Just doesn't seem quite right. Redjarman 10:33, 10 January 2013 (PST)
- Seems more of an overall balance feature. Since the effect to teleport is merely a "teleport port to you" you're still technically holding it. Same if you manually carry. Its just balancing issues. wouldn't say its a bug.Ashes 12:03, 10 January 2013 (PST)
Texas Two-step achievement confirmation?
In one part of the article, it says that you cannot earn the Texas Two-step achievement. But in the achievements section, it says you can. So can you, or not? --Samuel Enthers 09:49, 21 March 2013 (PDT)
- Idk, maybe you need to ask the guy who added it (not me, I just fix it) Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 10:04, 21 March 2013 (PDT)
airblast can headshot
me and two friends were airblasting the rescue ranger, and my friend managed to airblast the hook into to engies head, the engie died and the kill icon WAS THE SNIPER RIFLES HEADSHOT ICON. I am sure this is a bug. my friend had the backburner equipped. Super Prototype, I'm useless. I also have quit. Not that you would notice... 14:17, 13 April 2013 (PDT)

I believe that the icon should stay as the headshot icon because if it hits you in the head and is a crit, it will show the icon. For example, The Ambassador doesn't show an Ambassador headshot icon but instead the one you would see if you shot someone with a sniper rifle.
3D model of the projectile
I had a thought, since the Rescue Ranger has a special projectile, should the projectile have a 3D model? It could be a good addition to the page. ClockworkSpirit2343
- Yes, it needs. Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 02:31, 22 January 2014 (PST)
Heals for how much?
Nowhere in the article does it explain how much the RR heals buildings for. I'd test it but I don't own one and I'm already renting a Eureka Effect. Aabicus (talk) 18:34, 16 April 2014 (PDT)
- 75 HP, regardless of the range. Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 20:45, 16 April 2014 (PDT)
