Class
+
General
* The Scout is wielding the Nailgun, from Team Fortress Classic, which was replaced by the Scattergun in the finished game.
+
* The general texture and lighting of the character models is of significantly lower quality.
* The Scout's Bat's swinging speed is faster in the finished game.
+
* The emblems on the classes' arms are solid circles, instead of class emblems. The exception to this is RED Pyro.
* The Soldier's Rocket Launcher has a rocket sticking out of the end when loaded. The Soldier bots are also scripted, both to fire and to die on cue.
+
* All characters have the same voice and stock dying noises including the iconic Wilhelm Scream . The generic voice was going to be used for the Civilian.
* The Pyro's compression backpack is entirely yellow, while in the actual game it's grey with a yellow top.
+
* The classes had more low-poly heads, which can be seen in their gib models.
* The Demoman is shown throwing a MIRV instead of a package of dynamite. This would be a stay-over from Team Fortress Classic. This was removed from the game following the beta and replaced with stickybombs.
+

* The Demoman's ability to remotely detonate his grenades hadn't yet been moved to his sticky bombs.
+
Scout
* The Demoman's grenades from the Grenade Launcher didn't flash and were darker than the final version. The Grenade Launcher was also almost entirely grey, and the grenades in the view model appear below the barrel.
+
* Appears to have more upper-body build than the current model does.
* The Heavy's Minigun firing animation includes an even more cartoonish muzzle flash coming out of the barrel, while the bullet animation is thinner with less of a spread effect. He doesn't actually hit the Soldier on the far left.
+
* Is shown wielding the Nail Gun which was later replaced with the Scattergun. The Nail Gun was the primary weapon used by the Scout in Team Fortress Classic.
* The Heavy's movement speed is much slower in the finished game.
+
** When the Nail Gun is out, the hands from his player model are used as opposed to his viewmodel hands. His thumb is also pointing up in the one of the first-person shots.
* The Engineer's Shotgun has a slower, more "choppy" firing animation, and shells can be seen ejecting from the left side of the gun instead of the right. The Shotgun also fires more than six shells without reloading.
+
* Has two team-colored stripes near the tops of his socks, and his shoes do not have the white stripes that they do now. Instead, they have a different pattern which can be seen in his gibs.
* The Engineer's view model Wrench animation is different.
+
* His earpiece has changed to Cream Spirit.
* The Level 1 Sentry Gun has slightly different textures, different firing and building sounds, builds at a slower speed, and has a higher rate of fire. It also has a muzzle flash, unlike the simple recoil the gun has now.
+

* The charge symbol seen when the Sniper Rifle is scoped has a different design.
+
Soldier
* The Spy's Knife has a much longer and more intricate switching animation.
+
* RED Soldier is identical to Trailer 1.
* The Spy has a pocket on the left side of his suit which is not present now.
+
* His BLU coat is a dark blue team color.
* When the Spy Cloaks, he doesn't have his team color transition.
+
* His pants are less saturated.
* The Sniper Rifle uses the Schmidt Scout hit sound from Counter-Strike Source.
+
* His helmet is a dark grey hue.
* The Heavy's Minigun barrel appears to be shorter than the finished product's one.
+
* His class emblem is blank yellow.
* The Heavy's Minigun doesn't produce any bullet casings that are visible in the player viewmodel, and the word viewmodel produces a different bullet casing model than the ones in the final game.
+
* The Rocket Launcher has different textures and is visually a single-shot frontloaded RPG much like it is in Team Fortress Classic. The protruding rocket was removed in the final version.
* The Soldier's Rocket Launcher's sight is more solid then the one in the final game.
+

* The BLU Heavy does not produce a death scream when he is killed via Headshot.
+
Pyro
* The RED Soldier still has the gray uniform from Trailer 1.
+
* Their gloves are fully black.
 +
* The tank on their back is fully yellow instead of gray with a yellow top.
 +
* The Flamethrower is not team-colored.
 +
* Their asbestos suit is more saturated and has darker hues, and their BLU class emblem is blank yellow.
 +

 +
Demoman
 +
* He wields a Pipebomb Launcher instead of the Stickybomb Launcher.
 +
** The grenades look completely different and lack any "countdown" particle effects.
 +
** The viewmodel of the Pipebomb Launcher has a different origin.
 +
* The Demoman is shown wielding the MIRV Grenade before later being scrapped along with all other Grenades.
 +
** The MIRV Grenade also uses the RED textures rather than the BLU textures.
 +
* His class emblem is blank yellow.
 +

 +
Heavy
 +
* Moves slower.
 +
* The viewmodel of the Minigun is slightly different.
 +
* Minigun's bullets are less accurate.
 +
* His class emblem is blank yellow.
 +
* His vest is similar to the final version.
 +

 +
Engineer
 +
* The animations of the Wrench and Shotgun were more rudimentary. However, the shells from the Shotgun eject out of the ejection port as they should, which does not happen in-game.
 +
* His overalls, goggles, and belt buckle look slightly different.
 +
** His shirt is similar to the final version, and his class emblem is blank yellow.
 +
* The level 1 Sentry Gun has different textures and sounds.
 +
** It also fires slightly faster, but with bullet spread and lower accuracy.
 +

 +
Sniper
 +
* Has different shaders for his glasses.
 +
* The charge symbol, shown when his Sniper Rifle is scoped in, looks different. The Sniper Rifle uses the manual shot charging mechanism from its Team Fortress Classic counterpart.
 +

 +
Spy
 +
* His cloak lacks color transition.
 +
* Cigarettes are white & gold for both BLU and RED, and do not appear to be lit.
 +
* Has a team-colored pocket protector, striped tie and visible buttons.
 +
* The textures on his gloves and mask appear to be different.
 +
* The Butterfly Knife has a longer and more articulate backstab animation. This was considered too long and shortened by the time of the pre-release, and was later changed so that the animation was an instant kill, and remains that way to this day.
