Truce mode, or simply Truce, is a period of time in which players cannot kill each other. A truce is enacted on some maps whenever a boss appears. The purpose of the truce is to let both teams focus on the boss fight, rather than each other, and prevent players from accidentally killing each other while trying to focus on the boss. Several limitations are applied to players in order to prevent them from messing with the other team. Not every map with a boss fight features a truce.
Truce mode can be toggled on servers by setting the console command tf_halloween_allow_truce_during_boss_event
to 1
. However, this command only works for MONOCULUS and Merasmus, and requires Halloween mode to be enabled; the truce does not take effect during a Full Moon. Halloween mode can be forced by setting tf_forced_holiday
to 2
, 9
, or 10
or by using Enchantment: Eternaween.
Limitations
- Players cannot knock each other back, but still collide with each other.
- Spies cannot pull out or use their sappers.
- The Rock, Paper, Scissors taunt does not kill enemy players if they lose.
- On-hit effects do not give any effects.
