The melee weapon of the Heavy class are his massive Fists. Dealing significant damage, his Fists are an alternative to the Shotgun when an opponent is at close range and the Heavy's Minigun is out of ammo. Alternatively, the Fists may be used to attack enemies within melee range if the wind-up time for the Minigun is too costly.

This article is about the stock melee weapon for the Heavy. For other uses, see Glove.
Why waste bullet on such a teeny man?
The Heavy on hand-to-hand combat

The Fists are the default melee weapon for the Heavy. They are the Heavy's large, meaty hands wearing fingerless gloves and curled into deadly weapons.

By default, the primary fire key (default key: MOUSE1) throws a left-handed punch, while the alt-fire key (default key: MOUSE2) throws a right-handed punch; this has no effect on gameplay, as both fists have the same speed, hitbox, and damage, if and when they make contact. Critical punches appear as a right-handed uppercut animation no matter which button was pressed. Should the Heavy be killed with the Fists as the active weapon, he drops his currently equipped primary weapon.

Taunting with the Fists equipped results in the High Noon kill taunt.
