Even though this competitive format was originally played during the first two seasons of '''RETF2''', making it originally popular mostly in Europe, the gamemode acquired much more notoriety due to how unique it was, and due to the long hiatus the format has been enduring between '''Season 2''' and '''Season 3''', and the numerous players who really wanted this format to come back, bringing the 3rd edition of the '''Ready Steady Pan''' tournament to gain much more participants than before, with players from Europe, America and also Oceania gathering altogether in one unique tournament which was, of course, much bigger than the previous ones.

The format became quite popular on the TF2 competitive scene due to the matches being funny and entertaining to watch for the common player, enjoyable to play at for the competitor, and finally pretty easy to setup since it was possible for players during the '''Season 3''' to host their matches via [https://serveme.tf/ serveme.tf] with the said maps and whitelist that comes with the gamemode.

RSP (Acronym for Ready Steady Pan) is a variation of the 6v6 competitive format, revolving around the use of the Frying Pan. The tournament's simplified setup is intended to be a low-pressure way of introducing players to the 6v6 format and mindset.

The tournament has several in-game medals, distributed to players based on their positions.

Seasons

  • Season 1 was hosted through the Ready Steady Pan Steam group in May 2012.
  • On June 26th 2012, Ready Steady Pan was played during the TF2 Retrospective event, also known as RETF2, which happened at the Euskal Encounter XXII in Spain.
  • On July 6th - 8th 2013, Ready Steady Pan was featured during the Retrospective2 event.
  • Season 2 was hosted through the Ready Steady Pan Steam group on December 6th, 2012.
  • Season 3 was hosted October 22nd 2017 - January 6th 2018. From season three on, players were able to join the tournament by registering themselves on pan.tf, a dedicated website for the tournament.
  • Season 4 was announced on June 17th, 2018.

Class Limits

Classes are limited as such:

Engineers and Spies are excluded from the tournament, as they cannot equip the Frying Pan. Medic and Heavy are excluded for their passive health regeneration and large health pool, respectively. Snipers have been limited to one per team, due to the effect Jarate had in matches during previous seasons.

Weapons

The Ready Steady Pan tournament uses its own whitelist, which only allows players to equip the Frying Pan as their main damaging weapon, alongside select other non-direct-damage weapons. The Machina and Shooting Star are also allowed, in order to prevent accidental misfire. The currently allowed weapons are:
