Category:Item description usage LANG
Hey Tark,
Is there a particular reason you made this category (and not just used {{lang cat}}
)? It's not very helpful for tracking purposes, since you can't get a correct count of PAGESINCATEGORY.
Darkid « Talk — Contribs » 08:05, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, not really. I added it just because I wanted to check its general usage, I wasn't planning to make it a proper tracking category. I'll be reverting/deleting it soon as it served its purpose already. — Tark 12:45, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
Your edit to Gravel Pit
Hey Tark, I noticed you made a change to the way the map infoboxes work, and it seems like it broke the "Buy now" part: https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/index.php?title=Gravel_Pit&diff=next&oldid=3605274 Can you please double check that your arguments are right? Darkid « Talk — Contribs » 04:05, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! "map-status" was set to "community" instead of "official".
- I have updated the documentation to clarify what this parameter does. Please let me know if it is (still) unclear or if you need any help~ — Tark 21:47, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Empty community strategy pages
Hey Tark,
If you're going to delete Community Bloodwater strategy (et al), please also delete the subpages (i.e. the empty "translated" versions) -- otherwise they throw off the translation statistics. Darkid « Talk — Contribs » 04:57, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up, but you could have deleted them as well, no?
- Anyway, this should have been taken care of now. Apologies for the oversight. — Tark 22:06, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

Please delete my account
I have reviewed the guidelines outlined in Help:Account deletion and would like to request the deletion of my account.
- I am requesting my account to be renamed to "DeletedUserXXXX" and subsequently merged with the wiki's anonymous account.
- I understand that this action is irreversible and that my old username will be available for use again.
- If possible, I kindly request that any edits referencing my old username in the edit history tab be hidden from public view.
Thank you for your assistance. - Deleted User 16:29, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Hazard Infobox template
Hi there,
I saw that you made a sandbox of the Hazard infobox. Are we going to have to add more 3D images to the Hazards? I'm confused.
----Slimyboi500 Talk Contribs Steam 17:32, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm just testing if adding 3D images is feasible - it's not finished yet. If you want to make some 3D images to test it, feel free to, but do remember that this is only a test, so it may or may not be scrapped entirely.
- The sandbox version only has one new parameter:
image-3d
, which is the file name of the image without the "_3D.jpg" extension (this is added automatically). So, if you're going to test it, you'll need to upload a file namedUser Slimyboi500 CoolRender 3D.jpg
then set theimage-3d
parameter toUser Slimyboi500 CoolRender

Hello there, I would like for my Wiki name (and subsequently all edits/activity) to be changed from Cinnapoodle to JupiterSphere. Hi Tark! About my userpage
Hello, Tark! I'd like to request a whitelisting for editing of my page's css. I've done some research and digging through a couple other css pages on the wiki and can confidently say I at least understand it to an acceptable level. What I'd like to do with it is replace the wiki image with a new one I create myself from scratch that follows the look of my user page, a replacement of the pixel art near the link to someone's own userpage with something i've created, and some other ideas that are floating about in my head such as with the tables that already exist in my userpage. I won't make use of the permissions just yet, as I'm still trying to get my head around it, but it'd be cool to do something a little extra with my userpage. I understand if I'm not whitelisted due to the reasons I've given, but it would be wonderful if I could do something cool :) — payn. Talk Contribs 02:50, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- I am looking forward to it. — Tark 04:00, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Tark. I've been messing around with the css and am pretty happy with how it's turned out so far, however there is one more thing I'd like to do with it. I was hoping to add a border of some sort around my page, but none of the resources I have found give me a satisfactory answer. I don't want to spam the recent changes log again like yesterday when I was sleep deprived, so I was wondering if you had any idea how this could be achieved? Kind regards — payn. Talk Contribs 06:00, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately not. When I asked if you had sufficient knowledge, I expected that you would really have sufficient knowledge.
- As for spamming the logs, it would be especially helpful if you only edited your Page.css when you think your changes are ready to go. You can try out CSS changes by using your browser's dev tools, and there are multiple browser extensions where you can update CSS in real time - please make use of these and only update your Page.css when you see everything is in working order.
- Trying out stuff is fine, but please avoid constant edits, or otherwise, we'll have to revoke your CSS rights - especially since they are given out as a courtesy and are not part of the wiki's main function. — Tark 15:41, 11 May 2024 (UTC)

Medal Paint Table Question
One of the new medals for Operation Magnetic Mayhem drops pre-painted with Cream Spirit, as a team colored medal. Does that mean I'll have to redirect a couple images to show the table properly? I realize that using {{Painted variants|override = Titanium Tank Participant Medal 2017}} will cover most of the table, and that I can also specify {{override-unpainted = Operation Magnetic Mayhem Megalomaniac Mastodon 2024}} to allow me to show the medal as unpainted Cream Spirit, but I'll have to redirect the old medal's Cream Spirit images to the new medal's unpainted section, I think? — 05:54, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not Tark but couldn't you change 1 pixel by one hex value? That would mean the images wouldn't be duplicate but would also be essentially imperceptable to the human eye and wouldn't require any funky redirect shenanigans. I might not be fully understanding the predicament but I think a single slightly tweaked pixel would be a potential fix. Mediarch ♥ Talk ♥ My Edits 10:21, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- A redirect should work just fine. But please don't redirect the old file, create a wikitext page for the "new file" instead (
#REDIRECT [[File:{old filename}]]
). — Tark 14:51, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Malicious User
Hello. I am being maliciously targeted by member GrampaSwood. For hours, he has been deleting all of my commits and targeting me out of bad faith. Please review his edit history. The proof is in the pudding. I could explain the entire situation in great detail, but I believe his actions speak louder than his words. He has been bullying me, targeting me, undoing all of my edits, and has continuously deleted a page I was working on before it was even 10% done. I don't know if there is a language barrier between him and I, but he seems to ignore my talking points and miss out on key words within my commits. I'm a member of the Arch Wiki and have contributed massively to specific areas of the Arch Linux community. As someone who has been playing TF2 since 2011 I want to spread my knowledge and love of the game by giving back to the community through information and education. This GrampaSwood individual is making that impossible for me, and has proven to be (at least recently) detrimental to the access of information.
I came to this wiki because I planned on getting more involved with one of my favorite communities. This is now impossible because of the childish, authoritarian, and malicious behavior of one person. Sitzkrieg (talk) 19:51, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- For additional information, see Talk:Source code, Scattergun Trivia removal, Flare Gun Trivia removal, PDA Trivia removal, and Syringe Gun Trivia removal. These should be all the edits the user is talking about.
| s | GrampaSwood (talk) (contribs) 19:55, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- I've reviewed the edits and believe GrampaSwood's actions were reasonable. From observing his responses to you and his general behavior today, he wasn't "targeting" or "bullying" you; he was simply doing his routine work. GrampaSwood is a moderator, and the main responsibility of a moderator is to moderate.
- Trivia edits: Our Trivia guidelines are thoroughly documented here. Our guidelines are known to be very strict and annoying in general, but we are not against changing them. If you think a particular rule is arbitrary, please feel free to open a discussion there so we can review such cases and adapt.
- "Source code" page: After reviewing the page history, I believe a page on that topic is unnecessary because:
- 1. This wiki is not allowed to document "source code". We can, however, document the "events" related to the leaks. These events should ideally be included in the main Team Fortress 2 article, just like Wikipedia does.
- 2. Community reactions to such events are always overblown, and as a wiki, we should document verifiable information, not conjecture. The "spaghetti code" is a good example of a joke that is taken as truth, much like the "coconut.jpg" one.
- 3. Unused / Cut content can be documented in Unused content page (depending on the nature of the leak, see Policy).
- "Source code" page: After reviewing the page history, I believe a page on that topic is unnecessary because:
- I personally believe that a few paragraphs in the main TF2 article are enough. However, this wiki is indeed open, and if you truly wish to work on this article because you see its value, we can move it to your sandbox (User:Sitzkrieg/Sandbox). Once you're done, you can start a discussion here, asking other editors to review it and decide if it's something we should be documenting. It *is* a lot of effort and there's still a chance it could be turned down, but I genuinely think this approach is fair. — Tark 22:16, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- Since it's been a week since this discussion started, I've decided to move that page to your sandbox space and remove any editing restrictions (though we'll still moderate if you add anything that goes against wiki Policy).
- If you wish to delete the page, please make use of the
{{delete}}
tag. — Tark 19:25, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
Paint Table Override Style Switching
If a medal defaults to the Gem Only style, and has the typical default style, "Normal," as a selectable style instead, this makes the file names of any overridden unpainted images act as though Gem Only is still an alternative style, and Normal is still the default style, despite them now being swapped around.
Here's an example, that's easier to illustrate with. You'll notice that, despite being the second image set, because the table is coded for the Normal style to be read as the default (otherwise, the images for the base medal are overridden improperly, if set to style= Normal - medal
), the unpainted images are therefore coded for Gem Only to have its style name appended to the end of its image, even though that image is the default unpainted image for the medal, and for the Normal style to be stored like a default image, despite being a style.
This will practically not be an issue at all, of course, once the images are properly uploaded. It will have no front-facing problems, and will only be an issue in how the file name is stored internally. Is there a way I should go about fixing that, or should I just leave it be? — 11:14, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- It's fine as it is. This is an issue we've noticed recently (thanks to
{{model path}}
). If an item has multiple styles, there's no such thing as "item name", it's always "item name style n" (whatever is set as the "default" style). So, technically speaking, all medals should have that "normal" in the filename. Not that we're ever going to start doing it now due to the sheer amount of image files. - That said, I don't think the order is such a big deal. MvM medals are all copy-pasted anyway, so one being the default this time around is not even noteworthy, I'd say. If this becomes a common occurrence in the future, I can adapt the template, but it's not worth the trouble just for a one-off. — Tark 13:29, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
Paint Table Full template lacks unpainted overrides
An upcoming community MVM tour is anticipated to have medals that require the use of the paint-table-full template, to show single painted images for both teams; but that template isn't set up to also include the function to override the unpainted images, the way that the standard paint table template is. Can you fix that? — 03:43, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oops... I saw your message the other day but couldn't reply due to server errors.
- Assuming the paint template is the same as the original paint template, you should be able to just copy that part, no? — Tark 16:54, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- No. As you can see from my sandbox test, because I copied the code from the single Unpainted image box in the regular Painted Variants template, currently the RED team image uploads to a file path for a base unpainted image -- not a RED team image file path -- and the BLU team unpainted image box appears to be on another column entirely, which doesn't even support uploading to a blue file path. So you'd have to look into that. — 18:38, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
