Borscht Belt Kill 10 Heavies with The K.G.B. Difficulty: Medium-Hard How to obtain: Unless another Heavy is attempting to get this achievement as well, it is uncommon that two Heavies would be "boxing" each other. In most situations where you would encounter a Heavy, that player would most likely have his or her Minigun out and is most likely being pocketed by a Medic. The easiest way to get this achievement is to have a Medic ÜberCharge you, and punch an enemy Heavy to death. The slower attack speed of K.G.B. makes this harder, but if you can get the Crit-boost from killing another player then the Heavy should go down with no problem. This achievement also works when using the Fists of Steel or Warrior's Spirit. Using the Fists of Steel can give you enough survivability to kill lone Heavies, but puts you at a disadvantage should that player switch to melee. Getting kills during Sudden Death also count toward this achievement. Arena maps are also quite conducive to this achievement; given the Heavy's survivability and the general higher probability of end-of-round scenarios boiling down to 'for fun' melee duels, Heavy boxing matches can be quite common. |
Class Struggle Work with a friendly Medic to kill an enemy Heavy & Medic pair. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Since most Heavy vs. Heavy fights come down to who has fired or Crits first, it is recommended that you have an ÜberCharge from the Medi Gun or Kritzkrieg to give you an advantage. Upon the death of their patient, most Medics will turn tail and run, so try to damage the Medic during the fight as well, and if you are ÜberCharged go for the Medic first so that you can pick off the much slower Heavy at your leisure. If the opposing pair has an ÜberCharge ready for deployment, it's best to focus more on the opposing Medic to pressure a premature deployment. If no ÜberCharge or Kritzkrieg is available, look for the element of surprise and attack the pair when they aren't expecting it, especially when the Heavy's Minigun isn't revved up. Also, keep in mind that your primary weapon also plays an important factor if no ÜberCharges are available for either side. Dueling with an enemy Heavy while wielding Natascha puts you at a disadvantage due to its lower damage, but using the Brass Beast can give you a considerable advantage as the enemy cannot retreat very easily. |
Communist Mani-Fisto Kill an enemy with a critical punch. Difficulty: Very Easy How to obtain: While the Heavy can survive a single melee Critical hit strike, all other classes besides the Soldier or a Demoman who has collected four or more heads with the Eyelander (assuming full health) will die in a single hit unless they are overhealed by a Medic. Whenever you're locked into a close-quarters battle, simply take out your fists and try to kill the enemy. Eventually you will land a Crit and kill something. |
Crime and Punishment Kill 10 enemies carrying your intelligence. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: Since the Heavy is rather slow, quick action is required since most often it will be Scouts that try to steal the Intelligence. When you hear the alert, watch your Intelligence compass to determine the enemy player's escape route and move to intercept. This is easiest on 2Fort since there are only 2 entrances to the Intelligence room. Using Natascha to slow the runner down can make this achievement somewhat easier. |
Crock Block Survive a direct hit from a critical rocket. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: The Heavy has enough health to survive a Critical rocket from full health, but players will rarely find themselves in a position where they have full health in such an occasion without a Medic. It's highly recommended that you keep a Medic with you when fighting Soldiers, if you see a Critical rocket and you have enough health to survive it, jump in front, although this is also largely unnecessary as any rockets that are fired close enough for you to intercept are probably aimed at you anyways. Note that surviving afterward is optional (though preferable), you only need to survive the hit from the Critical rocket itself. Be wary of Critical rockets from the Direct Hit though, as those do enough damage to kill you unless you are overhealed. It should be noted that a crit from the Rocket Jumper, despite doing 0 damage, will also award the achievement. |
Division of Labor Kill 10 enemies with a Medic assisting you, where neither of you die. Difficulty: Medium-Hard How to obtain: For this achievement, stay near a Health source for your Medic, and an ammo source for continued firing. It's recommended that you stay in friendly territory and let the enemy come to you. If you or your Medic are in danger, retreat immediately and remember to keep your guard up for Spies and Snipers. This achievement coincides with the Medic's "Big Pharma" achievement. Having an ÜberCharge ready for emergencies will greatly increase your chances of survival. If your Medic has a Kritzkrieg, then ambushing a large group of enemies with it can net you several kills very quickly, allowing you to complete the rest at your leisure. |
Don't Touch Sandvich Kill 50 Scouts using Natascha. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: The fact that Natascha can slow the Scouts gives you more time to deal damage, and can prevent them from getting around a corner in time. Using Natascha, you can easily kill Scouts who attempt to circle strafe you or try to run away. While Scouts will normally try to get within close range in order to maximize the damage from their Scattergun, this also works in your favor due to your weapon's inaccuracy at longer ranges, and Natascha's slowdown effect diminishes at longer ranges. |
Factory Worker Kill 20 enemies while being recharged by a dispenser. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: A grind achievement, you do not have to get all the kills in a single life. Due to the fact you are "leashed" to the dispenser, this achievement can be slow to come by. Ask for a Dispenser in choke points to make this easier, but also watch out that the Dispenser isn't easily destroyed. Kills while pushing the cart on a Payload map also count. This is somewhat easier to accomplish on defense, as the enemy will come to you, but beware of ÜberCharged Demomen who may attempt to destroy the Engineer's nest. Because the Engineer achievement "(Not So) Lonely Are The Brave" requires an Engineer to keep a Heavy healed with a Dispenser while he gains five kills, you may be able to work with an achievement-hunting Engineer on this one. If you have the Brass Beast, you can take advantage of its increased firepower since you will not need to move around as much anyways. |
Five Second Plan Kill an enemy in the first 5 seconds after you exit a teleporter. Difficulty: Hard How to obtain: Due to the Heavy's slow speed, it is next to impossible to walk from the Teleporter and kill someone within five seconds. However, you may end up lucky and use the Teleporter just as someone attempts to destroy the base on the other side. If you somehow manage to telefrag someone, you will also earn the achievement. If you know the enemy team is making a push, for example, during a payload, and a teleporter to the vicinity is still up, you may be able to teleport and try to kill an enemy player in a suicide rush. This achievement has the same requirements as the general achievement "Riftwalker," so completing this will get you two achievements simultaneously. |
Gorky Parked Kill 25 enemies while you're standing on a control point you own. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: Hang around on defense on a control point of your own and kill them there; if you are just respawning as your team is losing a capture point, try to quickly get onto the next point to prevent Scouts or Spies from trying to quickly capture the next point. Gravel Pit is an easy map on which to attempt this achievement. Sitting next to a Dispenser can make this easier since you don't need to move around for health and ammo, and kills would also go for the "Factory Worker" achievement. As you need to stay on the control point in order to earn points toward this achievement, using the Brass Beast can give you additional firepower to earn this achievement more easily. |
Heavy Industry Fire $200,000 worth of minigun rounds in a single life. Difficulty: Very Easy How to obtain: At $200 a cartridge, $200,000 requires you to fire 1000 rounds; approximately 1 minute and 45 seconds of continuous fire is needed to obtain this achievement. It can be done, without the risk of being killed, inside of the respawn point next to the resupply cabinet. If you want to do it within actual combat, sitting next to a Dispenser or on the Payload cart can get you the achievement. |
Icing on the Cake Get 20 kills on players that you're dominating. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: This should come after a reasonable amount of time playing as the Heavy. As you've already killed a player three times without being killed by that player in return in order to earn a Domination, you probably are already killing him or her repeatedly anyway. The only thing to watch out for is the fact that they will attempt to single you out over nearby teammates in order to get Revenge. Be wary, since some people will switch classes to Spy or Sniper solely for the purpose of Revenge. If so, simply have your teammates watch your back for Spies and don't spin up your Minigun in open areas. |
Iron Kurtain Take 1000 points of damage in a single life. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: This should come after a reasonable amount of time as Heavy, simply keep a Medic with you and go about your business. A backstab or headshot may trigger this achievement; 'overkill' damage counts towards the total. |
Kollectivization Get 1000 assists. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: You should get this after a while playing Heavy. Just spread a wide spray of bullets in open areas with lots of enemies, mainly at the beginning of the round, and hope someone else takes the enemy out. Natascha is a good weapon of choice when going for this achievement as you are more likely to get assists, rather than kills due to its lower damage. This works best if you team up with another player, such as a Sasha-wielding Heavy (which will also quickly net you the "Soviet Union" achievement). |
Konspicuous Konsumption Eat 100 sandviches. Difficulty: Very Easy How to obtain: Simply keep eating Sandviches and it should come naturally. This is made much easier by the Sandvich's unlimited supply. Sandviches eaten during the setup phase count towards this achievement, so you can simply eat Sandviches until the round begins. It is unnecessary to "grind" for this achievement since you will eventually eat that many Sandviches anyways. Consumption of the Dalokohs Bar and Buffalo Steak Sandvich also count towards this achievement. |
Krazy Ivan Kill 50 enemies while both you and your victim are underwater. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Most players are not familiar with moving around in water, so try to ambush them whenever possible. 2Fort is an ideal map to get points for this achievement, as any player that jumps into the water will likely be injured. If you have a Pyro on your team this will be more effective as you're likely to get people diving in to extinguish themselves. Be sure not to camp the water for long periods of time, however, as you will run low on ammo after a while, and the other team may actively hunt you if you do it for too long. Alternatively, another good place to work towards this achievement is to lurk in the water-filled trenches in Well. The bridges provide enough cover for you to surface and breathe without being seen. |
Lenin A Hand Help 5 teammates get revenge on their nemeses. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: If a Medic has people dominating him or her, ask that player to heal you so you can take out his or her nemeses. Make the Medic's nemesis your primary target for the time being. This may also happen incidentally while firing at the nemeses of other teammates. |
Marxman Kill 10 enemies in mid-air with the minigun. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: This is quite easy to obtain, as a common strategy is for players to try to jump out of your cone of fire whilst you are spun up, especially Scouts, or try to jump off of ledges to get away from you. Killing them in either of the situations counts towards this achievement, and you'll typically get it after playing for some time as Heavy. |
0wn the Means of Production Remove 20 stickybombs by killing the Demomen who produced them. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: Whenever possible, try to ambush the Demoman from behind where that player is not expecting it, don't go directly in front of him or her because he or she will either see you or blow up the stickies in your face. In regular play, try to kill every Demoman you see and hope they had a mine field laid down. This is easier to accomplish if you ambush Demomen that are using the Scottish Resistance, as bombs laid by the weapon take longer to prime, thus giving you the advantage in a confrontation, and it allows the Demoman to lay up to 14 stickies at once. When you are ÜberCharged, Demomen will often try to lay stickies at your feet and detonate them at the end of the charge, so always single out any nearby Demomen in these situations. |
Party Loyalty Kill 50 enemies within 3 seconds of them attacking your Medic. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: Since most enemies will attempt to go straight for the Medic, it should not be too hard to kill the enemy before they kill him or her. It is not recommended to allow an enemy to injure your Medic before killing them, since they could possibly kill your Medic. Simply keep a close eye on your Medic and kill anyone who approaches. |
Permanent Revolution Kill 5 enemies without spinning down your gun. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: For this achievement, a Medic and nearby ammo source are essential. Dispensers gives you health and ammo, and the Medic can overheal you and use ÜberCharges on you. Stay out of open areas to prevent being killed by Snipers, and have your teammates watch your back for Spies. Stay near a corner so that you can retreat without having to un-rev your Minigun, and pick up dropped weapons that are close to you to refill your ammo. Under certain situations, you may be able to accomplish this with a single Kritzkrieg, as it will allow you to quickly kill everyone in the immediate area, without having to deal with fall-off damage. This achievement may be easier to accomplish when defending on an attack/defend map like Dustbowl, as enemies will come to you, eliminating the need to move around much. Keep in mind that if using the Brass Beast, you move much more slowly and thus are considerably more vulnerable to attack. |
Photostroika Provide an enemy with a freezecam shot of you taunting while invulnerable. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: Taunting while under the effects of an Über can be detrimental to your team, so it is usually wise to try this achievement after you have killed the last enemy in an area and there is not enough time to move forward. Some Medics may encourage this though, as there is a Medic achievement, "Bedside Manner," for when their patients get an achievement while being healed. |
Purge Kill 15 enemies capturing a control point you own. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: See Gorky Parked. As long as the enemy is standing on the control point as you kill him or her, you will get points for this achievement. Try to stay on or near the point in order to reduce the fall-off damage from your weapon whenever possible. |
Pushkin the Kart Get 50 caps on payload maps. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: This should come after a reasonable amount of time playing in Payload maps. Simply stay near (or on top of) the cart at all times while attacking and it should come eventually. You will get one capture every several seconds or so, so constantly staying near the cart will quickly rack up points for this achievement. |
Rasputin In a single life, get shot, burned, bludgeoned, and receive explosive damage. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Being shot, burned and hit with explosives comes naturally to the Heavy; being bludgeoned by a melee weapon, however, does not. If you've already taken explosive and bullet damage, there is one main occurrence where fire and melee damage come commonly: a Pyro who has unlocked the Axtinguisher will burn you, then attempt you melee you to death with the Axtingiusher. This should give you the achievement, but if you wish to survive, kill the Pyro after the first swing. Note that the Scout's Sandman baseball counts as a bludgeon attack, so if you see a Scout with the Sandman, try to goad that player into hitting you with it if you have already been hit with the other three types of attacks. |
Rationing Kill an enemy with your shotgun while you're out of minigun ammo. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: The easiest way to get this achievement is to intentionally empty out your Minigun ammunition, take out your Shotgun and hunt down a weak class, such as a Medic, Spy or Sniper. Avoid fighting strong close range classes such as the Pyro, Scout, Soldier or Demoman. The Heavy has a considerable amount of HP and is quite mobile with the Shotgun, so most enemies will be easily surprised. Be sure to avoid standing near Dispensers or picking up any ammo crates or dropped weapons until you get the kill. |
Redistribution of Health Heal 1000 damage with med-kits in a single life. Difficulty: Medium-Hard How to obtain: A good way to get this achievement is to defend control points often, as they usually have health and ammo kits nearby which you can use between waves of enemies. Take note that being healed by a Medic or Dispenser will not work here, and only health that is healed (not the maximum the kit can heal) will count towards this achievement. |
Red Oktoberfest Earn a domination for a Medic who's healing you. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: This is pretty straight-forward. Since assists count towards dominations, you should be able to earn the Medic (and yourself) a domination by killing the same enemy 4 times without that player at least killing the Medic. This can be easier if the Medic has already gotten prior assists with other teammates, which means that you do not have to personally kill the same enemy 4 times. |
Show Trial Kill an enemy with a taunt. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: You must kill an enemy by using the Showdown taunt. Unlike other taunt kills, the Showdown has a fair amount of range, so you can use it to kill enemies that are outside of immediate melee range. Furthermore, the taunt can be aimed and will go in the direction of your crosshair, so try to use the range and precise aim afforded to your advantage. Keep in mind that you cannot change the direction in which your taunt fires once the taunt starts, allowing enemies to simply move to the side and avoid death. It may be best to try taunt kill an immobile target, such as a scoped Sniper. |
Soviet Block While invulnerable and on defense, block an invulnerable enemy Heavy's movement. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: While playing on defense, if you see an enemy ÜberCharged Heavy and have a Medic with you as well, tell your Medic to activate the charge, then and run in front of the enemy Heavy and block that player's progress. This works best on maps where there are narrow corridors that only allow one person to pass through at a time, such as Stage 1 of Dustbowl. Be sure to tell your Medic to help block as well. |
Soviet Union Get 25 enemy kills where you either assist or are assisted by another Heavy. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: This will come in time to any Heavy. Simply team up with another Heavy and attack the same targets. This is easier if one Heavy is carrying Sasha and the other is wielding Natascha, though keep in mind that Natascha's slowdown effect falls off over range. The Brass Beast is also helpful in finishing off targets more quickly. |
Spyalectical Materialism Kill or assist in killing 10 cloaked Spies. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: Keep a good eye on places that Spies normally come from, such as the sewers from 2Fort. If you see a Spy cloak, get injured or bump into some one, use the wide spray of your Minigun to keep that player visible and finish him or her off. Assists count, so don't worry too much if someone else scores the kill. |
Stalin the Kart Block the enemy from moving the payload cart 25 times. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: This is harder than Pushkin the Kart, since the other team's players will be all over the cart, and the Heavy moves very slowly so it is more difficult for you to intercept the cart while it's moving. Try to keep the element of surprise. Even if you aren't successful in clearing the enemies in the cart's presence it should still count towards the achievement. Try to use vertical drops and ambush players on the cart from above, which will allow you to spin up your Minigun as you fall. |
Supreme Soviet Get ÜberCharged 50 times. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: This should come after a reasonable time as playing Heavy, as Heavies are among the primary targets for deploying ÜberCharges on. (Note: Boosts from the K.G.B. and First Blood count toward this achievement.) |
Vanguard Party Be the first on your team to start capturing a control point in a round. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Since it is mainly the work of the Heavy to clear a room, they are usually the closest ones to the control point. However, the problem is being the first to step on the point in the round, which is hard to do when other classes are far faster than you. You do not need to successfully complete the capture, merely be the first to begin a capture in the round. Also using the G.R.U. may help considerably due to its higher movement speed while equipped. Incidentally, this achievement also works during Sudden Death, Arena, and King of the Hill, so camping the central point is a viable strategy for scoring you the achievement. |
