Valve statement dismissing the Medic's Nazi connection
I have only found secondhand references to a supposed "official Valve statement" that dismisses the Medic having any kind of Nazi past. I did track it down to here [1] that cites "fans that toured Valve" (which is perhaps a joke itself) but the link is dead. I've seen zero official comments anywhere else and most forum posts are just perpetuating it without a source. Can these references be removed entirely? It's only speculation at this point and seems like something that lacks value in being repeated. Malthenius 01:45, 01 December 2010 (UTC)

New Taunt?
Today's (Nov. 19 2010) update stated that; Added the original Ubersaw taunt to the Vita-Saw. Has anybody tried this out yet? Jub 00:18, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- It's the same taunt as the Bonesaw, not the Übersaw. Both are the "world's smallest violin" animations, but the Vita-Saw's violin sound is different in pitch and tone than the Bonesaw one. Malthenius 23:01, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- I have tried it. When you taunt with the Vita-Saw you will taunt and play music the same way as if by the Bonesaw, but instead of hearing music played by violen, it plays the music by electric guitar. I think that is very cool.Jarhead 04:10, 5 December 2010 (UTC)Jarhead
- I'm a little late to the party here but what they meant was the Übersaw's original taunt was the same as the bonesaw but with the deeper (if I remember right Viola) sounds. Then they added the Spinal Tap taunt kill for Übersaw and the sounds fell to the wayside until the Vita-saw got them. Sage J. Fox 01:04, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Stuttgart?
Where does it say the Medic hails from Stuttgart? I often find myself lurking around the wiki, thinking I could use a reference. ~ lhavelund

My edit removed?
I had an edit under trivia that described that the Medic was the only healthy class. Admittedly, it wasn't perfect, but instead of being edited or revised, it was flat-out deleted. Could I get some clarification as to why? I believe mine was a worthy contribution to the page. HisMajesty 15:49, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Trivia suggestion
Medic is the only class who got a weapon with no downsides and yet better than his default one (and that is Amputator). Markfrompoland 21:08, 6 February 2011 (UTC)\
I think that might go better on the actual Amputator page or in interesting facts. Pierow 05:58, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
100% Charge Doktor!
i just wanted to point out i changed the description in the ubersaw taunt kill stating that after a succesful taunt the entire uber charge bar is filled (the Hatless update) Gamecrazy009 06:44, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
Quote at the top
Does no one else think that "Now, most hearts couldn't withstand zis voltage, but I'm fairly certain your heart..." is a bit uninteresting/too specific to be the Medic's quote?
I would have thought that "Anyway, that's how I lost my medical license" or "I have no idea!" (Perhaps followed by 'The Medic, on his professional modus operandi'?) would be suitable...
Taunt Attacks?
Now, let us consider something here. Medic is the only class in which three of his taunts has in-game effects: the Oktoberfest, the Spinal Tab, and the Medicating Melody. Now, all three of these taunts in question are currently classified as "Taunt Attacks" in the Medic page, (and perhaps in other pages, too). As we know, only the Spinal Tap is a taunt in which another player is damaged, while the other two actually have a healing effect on the Medic and/or his teammates. Shall we take a vote on the renaming of that section to something more suitable (I ask this, because no other character has taunts that do anything besides do damage or do nothing)? TheTimesAndQueriesOfMyAss 18:09, 14 July 2011 (PDT)
- I'd be cool with renaming "Taunt Attacks" to something else, as long as they weren't broken up in to different sections. Maybe just "Effect Taunts", or "Sequence Taunts". That kinda has a ring to it. --SilverHammer 18:12, 14 July 2011 (PDT)

Medic! calls HUD bug (white square flash)
This is a somewhat recent bug that only shows up for those playing Medic, related to the Medic call HUD icons appearing as a white square for a single frame (including a white block on the top left corner of the screen). [2] Should this be added here or in the Heads-up display article in a new "Bug" section? Kusuri 12:26, 10 September 2011 (PDT)
Corrected inaccuracy
I corrected an inaccuracy on the Quick-Fix. The Quick-Fix Ubercharge does not prevent knockback from airblast. You can still be airblasted while under the Quick-Fix's Ubercharge effects. Odin(Reborn) 11:30, 7 November 2011 (PST)

Medic's Real name?
I read on the Night of the Living Update pages about a bunch of names of confirmed classes (Dell Conagher and Tavish Degroot) and among others, I noticed a german name called "Josef Heilberg" or something like that. Could that be Valve telling us that that's the medic's name?
Also, here is a page concerning downloaded reskins for Medic and Engineer items, giving Josef Heilberg's name and Dell Conagher, which is why I believe that this could possibly be medic's real name. [3] Braden 0.0 10:21, 21 January 2012 (PST)
- Don't use Night of the Living Update to judge that is Medic's name. It's Community Update and doesn't have anything that tell in offical. Hinaomi 10:28, 21 January 2012 (PST)

- Hi all, I just came over from Facepunch, where users in the TF2 speculation thread are leaking content from the July 2012 SFM Beta. There's an overlay showing the Medic's office, and the nameplate on the desk reads "Dr. Claude Huggins". [4] Is this just a Left 4 Dead reference/easter egg, a scrapped beta element or should it be taken as canon? OkamiTakahashi 10:59, 8 February 2013 (PST)
Just a reference, I'm afraid. If you read A Cold Day in Hell, Claude Huggins is also the name of the founder of Teufort (2fort) --PyroGothNerd (talk) 12:18, 9 April 2014 (PDT)
Hey the only official info that can be found to name the Medic is in Team Fortress comic #6 The Naked and The Dead, The devil calls the Medic Mr. Ludwig, This is either a typo as the Medic DOES have a doctorate or he lost the title doctor when his medical license was revoked. Regardless the only official name we have so far is his last name, Ludwig. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Old Smokey (talk) • (contribs)

Medic's Name Listed In Press Release
On January 31st, 2012 the company Gaming Heads, officially liscenced Valve merchandise manufacturer, posted a newsletter alongside the launch of the Medic statue preorder. Along with product shots and a biography his name and hometown are listed. The newsletter can be viewed here [5].

Medic's Broken Arm Glitch
Anyone noticed when the medic has his medigun (doesnt matter which one) out, and the team looses the match, medic 'breaks' his arm? To be more specific, medic goes in surrender position, but his arm is bent backwards. I have played medic for a long time, and this hasn't been fixed. This has annoyed me for quite a long time so I think this needs to be more known so Valve can fix it. Drsteiner12 02:38, 13 January 2013 (PST)
- Hey, it's pretty sensible! He's now a prisoner of war, and you're not supposed to kill unarmed and injured soldiers! Harley Quinn hyenaholic (talk) 10:48, 11 December 2013 (PST)
- I have seen it too, especially in Mann versus Machine when we lose, but it could have to do with they way he holds the medigun and the coding involved with it could play a part too. I am not really sure why that happens though, we may have to do more research. Legomaster445 (talk) 17:08, 23 December 2013 (PST)
Should I add this to trivia? If so, here, or on Medigun?
Okay, so I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXO_ApjKPaI (skip to 0:39 for the main point) Basically, a German guy invented a gun that heals people's skin. It looks a lot like the Medigun, and works a lot like the Medigun. IT'S BASICALLY THE MEDIGUN IN REAL LIFE. Is this something trivia worthy? If so, should it be added here, or on the Medigun page? --PyroGothNerd (talk) 10:55, 14 February 2014 (PST)
- It's not really something trivia worthy at all. It's an interesting thing, but it's not really relevant to the wiki. Plus, that video doesn't work over here in the UK, so I suspect other people in other countries would have issues with it too. --Omolong (talk) 10:57, 14 February 2014 (PST)

Link to city?
In his bio, should a link to the Wikipedia article on Stuttgart be added? It would be nice for people wondering whether or not certain locations are real and such. --PyroGothNerd (talk) 18:32, 28 April 2014 (PDT) Also, Stuttgart had some significance during World War Two, such as certain areas being nearly destroyed. according to the article, over 1000 people were killed in airstrikes. It's somewhat possible that Valve may have had purposely made this town his home to add information into his background story, later. Speculation would not be added to the article, of course, but I feel the significance of the city in history may be important information, especially since it pertains to the Medic's history. --PyroGothNerd (talk) 18:42, 28 April 2014 (PDT)
I was only planning on the direct link. Sorry about adding the extra to the discussion. Just thought it was interesting. --PyroGothNerd (talk) 12:58, 29 April 2014 (PDT)
Germany in the Era.
There wasnt a Germany in the 60's-70's there was only EAST and WEST. Rottenburg and Sttugart are both in West Germany. I think his Bio should change Germany to West Germany. But alas, tis valves decision. ScottishDrunkard (talk) 04:02, 2 January 2015 (PST)
- Ah yes, but we can pretty safely assume that the Medic is more than 20-30 years old, so when he was born the country would still have been Germany. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 08:10, 2 January 2015 (PST)
- Technically true. If here was 20 there was a chance he was born in allied occupied Germany. 30 He is likely from Nazi Germany. But I prefer to think he is 40. Makes him look well aged. ScottishDrunkard (talk) 10:02, 2 January 2015 (PST)
- Medic is generally considered the oldest member of the team. From being the only one with greying hair he is certainly over 40 and likely to be over 50. Other characters seem to have gone bald early or shaved. Harley Quinn hyenaholic (talk) 17:38, 22 September 2016 (PDT)
Medic's Surname
In the Two Cities update on the Rottenburg page, there's a hanging sign saying "Humboldt's Pharmacy". It's hard to read the text of the sign, but among other things there, it says "Baboon hearts" and "Baboon Suppositories" and it says right there it's the Medic's hometown and he's been chased out for swapping out too many baboon hearts... so isn't that 99% his surname, if nothing else? Harley Quinn hyenaholic (talk) 10:13, 26 September 2016 (PDT)
- I'd agree. The reference to Baboon Hearts makes that store almost certainly the Medic's. That probably means his surname is Humboldt. Now that the 6th TF main series comic has come out, we know the Medic's first name too. "Ludwig". I'd say it's 99% confirmed that the Medic's name is "Ludwig Humboldt". Can someone confirm this bug?
During humiliation, the Medic's arm appears bent and clips through his head if the secondary weapon is equipped.
I tried it in-game. I had a bot cap the point and I stood inside spawn as Medic while holding my Medi Gun (botkiller version of stock). When humiliation came, the "RED WINS" HUD obscured a bit of my view, but I don't think the Medic's arm was bent at all. Über heart, what is the confirmed name?
This is what always confused me In meet the medic, There is a scene where medic injects a Über port. But what is it called, we know that if you don't have a good enough heart, and medic puts it under the Medigun only for it to pop your heart was too weak, replacing it with a baboon heart. But what is the Über injecter called?
If someone could explain the name it would be appreciated

All(?) Syringe Guns can destroy explosive projectiles (with the inclusion of rockets)
Hey all. Noticed that it doesn't mention anywhere that Syringe Guns can destroy rockets and possibly other projectiles that other weapons cannot usually destroy. But they can. The stock Syringe Gun can 100% destroy rockets. Haven't tested other projectiles/weapons. I'd say that every one except for the Crusader's Crossbow probably does, but that's just a guess. [EDIT: Added the appropriate info to the Syringe Gun page.] OfficialAzure (talk) 21:19, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

- Sorry, but those proofs are very dated - from 2012. I have decided to try and reproduce it once again, using host_timescale 0.2 and hitting the projectile in their center with crossbow/syringes and the other way around - hitting syringes with my rocket, as well as trying different projectiles reacting on some other projectiles - and no projectile reacted with another, just passing through each other, which essentially means that no, projectiles do not interact with one another, and this includes syringes/arrows vs other projectiles, and other projectiles (like rocket vs rocket). We can only assume that this is one of undocumented changes that seemingly nobody have noticed. The only exception is Dragon's fury, but it's projectile is a completely different can of worms, and it's very glitchy. Nonetheless, i'll be reverting your edit. Medic's speed
Medic's speed change if he's healing a Demoman with the Eyelander, and I think it changes depending on how many heads the Demo has. I'm not sure if the Ali Baba's Wee Booties also change Medic's speed while healing him. I think the Eyelander is the only speed-based buff that works on Medic by healing someone, I think weapons such as the GRU doesn't change Med's speed. May also want to check if healing a Scout with the Baby Face's Blaster with full charge also counts.
At the moment, the speed table only shows info about healing a Scout. - ▪ - 01:24, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Minor correction under the basic strategy section
"You fill your ÜberCharge faster by healing teammates who are more hurt." should instead read instead: "You fill your ÜberCharge faster by healing teammates who are not fully buffed"
I don't have permissions to edit the page to make this corrections myself. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by ALT-F-X (talk) • (contribs) 04:19 CEST 12/7/2020
- Both statements are true. However, I think that the first statement would encourage newer players to prioritize healing the most injured teammates first, while the second could make them focus on fully buffing one target at a time, thinking that it helps them to 'milk' the Über gain, even when other teammates might need the heals instead. I feel like first statement would help newer Medics to understand how to spread out their heals and be more helpful overall.Seederat (talk) 03:02, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

GrampaSwood (talk) 08:32, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- I heartily disagree with "both statements are true". The current tip on the wiki implies that when healing a 50 health heavy, compared to a 300 health heavy, you will build übercharge faster, this is categorically incorrect. If you're worried about making sure to direct newer players on the helpfulness of healing lower health players I would suggest "You fill your ÜberCharge faster by healing teammates who are not fully buffed, but remember to heal your lowest health teammates first." Or even just making a second line that's about healing low-health players as the tip we're talking about is really just about building übercharge as fast as possible. ALT-F-X (talk) 14:36, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- It is true though, the original "You fill your ÜberCharge faster by healing teammates who are more hurt." refers to getting more Ubercharge. Constantly overhealing someone slows down charge rate, healing someone that's lower HP means you'll get fast charge rate for longer.
GrampaSwood (talk) 14:47, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

- The current tip is supposed to convey that healing teammates who are more hurt fills your Uber faster and thus should be a priority. Your suggestion would turn it into more of a note on how the Medigun functions than a tip for gameplay.
GrampaSwood (talk) 15:52, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

- You should never be prioritizing your healing target for building uber faster, if that's the intention with this tip it needs to removed outright. You should be healing low health teammates simply so they will live. My intention with this change was simply to be correct, which I believe the current one to not be. ALT-F-X (talk) 16:25, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
May have worded it poorly there, but the intent is to mean that you get faster ubercharge if a patient is lower health. "not fully buffed" would mean not fully overhealed, but this is supposed to be about hurt players. Prioritising ubercharge is an okay strategy, it's a very powerful thing and can make or break a game (however, that's irrelevant to this discussion).

Medic's Wedding Dovery and stealing of the catering van
Archimedes' item desc. tells us that Medic did Wedding Dovery. Thus he perhaps traveled to Israel somewhere around 1963 - 1968, and stole the catering van on the Israeli prime minister Levi Eshkol's wedding day (marrying to Miriam Zelikowitz.) They got married in 1968 and that Levi's term lasted from 1963 to 1968.
Mostly saw this from a youtube comment section.
Vienesa1 (talk) 16:54, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
- This theory is flawed simply because nothing supports this other than a prime minister marrying in that timeframe. Realistically, there doesn't have to be an exact PM that matches up as it is a fictitious world. A far more likely candidate for this would be countries around Germany that have a prime minister (BeNeLux, UK, Scandinavia, etc.). The most likely candidate for this is, in my opinion, the East German chairman of ministers. He was colloquially referred to as a Prime Minister in English sources (Which the description is). However, all of this is speculation and there's no solid proof for any of this and may simply be an oversight by Valve.
GrampaSwood (talk) 19:24, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
- GrampaSwood (talk)
- That can be a possibility. But what I find mildly interesting is that Archimedes song is done in a traditional Klezmer style. This song is more about Archimedes than Medic.
- I think Valve is the type of team to put real life events as references in their games, this might be one aswell.
- Though one question would spring to mind; why an Israeli prime minister out of all the other choices? So your East German theory might hold up a bit there. Vienesa1 (talk) 16:47, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
- No need to overthink it. At the risk of overthinking it, the identity "prime minister" is used only to vaguely place the encounter in Europe somewhere. ("The Medic committed semi-desperate crime in Europe?" "'SA!")
