I have new way to kill cowards.
The Heavy while tickling someone

The Holiday Punch is a community-created melee weapon for the Heavy. It is a large pair of team-colored knitted mittens, featuring a decorative snowflake woven into the back.

This weapon functions just like the Fists except for an additional backstab-like mechanic. The weapon will always crit from behind in an arc similar to that of the backstab. Any hits from this weapon that strike targets in the back will do no damage but will cause victims to burst into laughter, leaving them temporarily defenseless. Victims who are also wearing the Holiday Punch will always be forced to laugh when hit, regardless of the damage or angle of the hit. Critical hits given by crit-boost items like the Kritzkrieg that are not from behind will deal normal critical damage. Mini-crits will not cause opponents to laugh. Laughing will only occur if the victim is in a position where they would normally be able to taunt, including when under the effects of an Ubercharge. This means that critical hits do not affect disguised or cloaked Spies in any way, or victims who are underwater or in the air.

Taunting with the Holiday Punch equipped will perform the Showdown taunt.

The Holiday Punch was contributed to game via the Steam Workshop, under the name "Masculine Mittens".

Unused content

  • An unused texture exists within the GCFs for this weapon; it bears a similar design to the Officer's Ushanka.
  • This weapon has an unused kill icon.

Bugs

  • The hit sound during the draw animation will still play despite the gloves not coming in contact with each other. This is due to the weapon sharing the same draw animation as the Killing Gloves of Boxing.
  • This item does not glow when crit boosted.
  • Sometimes when using the Holiday Punch the player's fists will disappear.
  • If a forced critical hit from this weapon, such as one applied by a Kritzkrieg, hits a disguised enemy Spy, it will trigger the laugh effect, but the laugh sound will be that of the Spy, not of the class that the Spy is disguised as.
  • If a critical hit from this weapon hits a Spy with a Dead Ringer, it will not trigger a feigned death, though the Dead Ringer's Cloak will be depleted. The Spy will, however, still be resistant to damage while remaining visible.

Trivia

  • Holiday Punch is a drink commonly made during the holiday season.
  • The Holiday Punch was first teased on the first day of the Australian Christmas Update 2011, on the bottom left corner of the title image.
