Operation Last Laugh is an April Fools Mann vs. Machine charity tour event organized by Moonlight MvM and hosted by Pineapple.TF that entered open beta on March 30th, 2023. The tour is scheduled to conclude on April 17th, 2023.

Tour

The tour resembled previous community Mann vs. Machine campaigns, featuring many of the same maps, with different missions, along with a distorted version of Decoy, named "4 5 3 15 25", which spells DECOY, when the numbers are substituted for letters.

In keeping with the short duration of the community event, one simple, short tour was offered, with only one medal in reward.

This event has five medals which are able to be earned by players: one as a reward for completion of the tour, and four for donations to a charity drive benefiting Food For The Hungry. Clearing six of the seven available missions earns the player the Copper Chicanery medal.

In addition, players are able to donate varying amounts through item or monetary donations to receive donor medals. Donating at least 5 dollars earns the player the Happy Spud medal, donating at least 15 dollars earns the player both the Happy Spud and Bruised Johnstone medals, donating at least 25 dollars earns the player the Happy Spud, Bruised Johnstone, and Caustic Container medals, and donating at least 35 dollars earns the player all four donation medals: the Happy Spud, Bruised Johnstone, Caustic Container, and Alluring Artifact.

Content creators whose missions were accepted for use in the event were awarded the Auspicious Automaton Assembler's Accolade medal.

The Copper Chicanery player medal uses the model for the Burnished Beryl, returning from Operation Madness vs Machines, and the donor medals reuse additional models from Madness vs Machines, as well as Operation Canteen Crasher and Operation Memes vs Machines: the Happy Spud reuses the Memes vs Machines Baked Potato model, the Caustic Container reuses the Canteen Crasher Platinum Crit Canteen model, and the Bruised Johnstone and Alluring Artifact reuse the models for the Grandiose Garnet and Chaotic Crystal, respectively -- both from Operation Madness vs Machines.

Four of the five medals initially drop with custom painted colors which are not otherwise available in-game: the Copper Chicanery player medal drops with two shades of blue, for both RED and BLU teams, the Happy Spud drops with a dark brown color resembling a baked potato, the Bruised Johnstone drops with a slightly darker shade of purple, and the Alluring Artifact drops with a bright green color.

Each of the gemstone medals has two styles, named "Gem Only" and "Normal". The "Normal" style encases the gemstones in large metal hands, resembling a Heavy Robot's. The Happy Spud medal also has two styles, named "Style 1" and "Style 2". Style 1 depicts the potato wearing the parasol like a hat, while Style 2 depicts it with the parasol open.

The gemstone medals were contributed to the Steam Workshop by NeoDement, Sntr, Erikku, sigsegv, Jakapoa, Pelipoika, interrobang, Mayor Rev, Z-Ben, kratos, Nuke, Hydrogen, Hyperion, Potato's MvM Server, DaanBox, Swordstone, and Geel.

The Caustic Container medal was contributed to the Steam Workshop by Colteh, Rev, Swordstone, Wave, Nuke, Kratos, Benoist3012, Pelipoika, sigsegv, Hyperion, Hydrogen, sedisocks, Sntr, NeoDement, Star Bright, and interrobang.

The Happy Spud medal was contributed to the Steam Workshop by Glubbable~ ❥, Sntr, Erikku, Jakapoa, Pelipoika, interrobang, whatsmynameagain, Mayor Rev, Kenzzer, kratos, Nuklear, Dayal, Hydrogen, Hyperion, Potato's MvM Server, DaanBox, Chillax, Swordstone, and BigfootBeto.

The content creator medal was contributed to the Steam Workshop by Gadget, LeSwordfish, and Hydrogen.

• The Bruised Johnstone is a reference to Pizza Tower, representing a piece of Pillar John, a sentient pillar that must be broken in each of the game's levels.
• The Alluring Artifact is meant to represent a Chaos Emerald, from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

The textures for the Copper Chicanery, Happy Spud, and Alluring Artifact medals are set up for paint to be applied, but the ability to do so is disabled.
