Operation Firmware Frenzy is a Mann vs. Machine charity tour event organized by Moonlight MvM and hosted by Pineapple.TF, which entered open beta on November 19, 2023, before officially launching on November 22. The tour is set to conclude on January 2, 2024.

Tour

On November 19, 2023, Operation Firmware Frenzy went into public beta, with 9 missions spread across 8 maps, including the official map Coal Town, as well as returning maps from previous community campaigns, and newly featured maps, including Hurricane and Greekrock, a reskin of Bigrock themed after ancient Greek temples.

This campaign introduces "Master Difficulty" missions, containing extra-difficult additional rulesets.

The tour officially launched on November 22.

Rewards

This event has five medals which are able to be earned by players: one as a reward for participation in the tour, and four for donations to a charity drive, benefiting The American Heart Association. Clearing any five missions earns the player the Star of the Company medal.

In addition, players are able to donate varying amounts through item or monetary donations to receive donor medals. Donating at least 6 dollars earns the player the Purehearted Purple medal, donating at least 12 dollars earns the player both the Purehearted Purple and Bountiful Benevolence medals, donating at least 18 dollars earns the player the Purehearted Purple, Bountiful Benevolence, and Giver in Gold medals, and donating 24 dollars earns the player the Purehearted Purple, Bountiful Benevolence, Giver in Gold and Supercritical Selflessness medals.

Content creators whose missions were accepted for use in the event were awarded the Supreme Strategist's Sigil of Status medal.

The Star of the Company player medal reuses the model for the Pinnacle of Ingenuity medal from Operation Madness vs Machines, while all four donor medals reuse models from Operation Canteen Crasher: the Rust Starter, Bronze Ammo, Gold Uber, and Platinum Crit medals, respectively.

Each of the medals initially drop with custom painted colors which are not otherwise available in-game: the Star of the Company medal drops with a bright green color, the Purehearted Purple medal drops with a faded bright purple color, the Bountiful Benevolence medal drops with a dark slate blue color, the Giver in Gold medal drops with a deeply saturated gold color, and the Supercritical Selflessness medal drops with a jade green color.

The Star of the Company medal has two styles, named "Normal" and "Gem Only". The "Gem Only" style displays only the gemstone, without the metal frame.

The player medal was contributed to the Steam Workshop by NeoDement , Sntr , Erikku , sigsegv , Jakapoa , Pelipoika , Interrobang , Rev , Benoist3012 , kratos , Nuke , Hydrogen , Hyperion , Pineapple Medals Bot , DaanBox , and Swordstone .
