Classless Update

The Classless Update was released August 13, 2009, and marked the first non-class specific Pack Update. Rather than focus on the additions of new weapons and achievements, the update added new hats, game modes and maps, while also delivering a large number of minor edits and tweaking to already exsisting gameplay.

Announcements

The Classless Update page officially began on August 11th, 2009, as announced on the TF2 Official Blog post "This one's ours now!". The update was released on Auguest 13th.

• Day 1: The Arena map Offblast, along with the addition of 18 new hats were announced.
• Day 2: The King of the Hill map Viaduct, the first of its game type, as well as 2 new king of the hill converted maps, Sawmill and Nucleus, were announced.
• Day 3: The Control Point map Yukon, the Capture the flag converted map Sawmill, and patch notes listing additions/changes, map changes, item reworks, fixes and community requests were announced.

Trivia

• The Gentle Manne's Service Medal was the first item to be obtained through a hidden page. The only other item to be obtainable through this method would be the Ghastly Gibus during the Hallowe'en Update, which was later made available through an achievement.
• To date, Sawmill is the only map to recieve the addition of 2 new map types, King of the Hill and Capture the Flag, in the same update.
