Mann Co. Supply Crate Keys are single-use tool items, available through trading or purchase at the Mann Co. Store. Each key can be used once and will open one selected Mann Co. Supply Crate.
To use a key, the player should select the key in the backpack and proceed to click the 'Use with...' button before selecting the crate they wish to be opened. The key can be used with any regular series crate in the player's backpack, where it is consumed, along with the crate, in the process. However, there are three specialized keys, which were only obtainable during specific events. In some cases, these keys could only be used with a specifically associated series of crate, which regular keys could not open.
The key is only available to be purchased from the Mann Co. Store; it cannot be found from random drops and cannot be crafted. The key becomes trade-able 3 days after purchasing it from the store.
