Action items are usable game items. Introduced in the Mann-Conomy Update, action items are similar to Tools in that some of them have a limited number of uses (indicated by a number on their icon in the backpack); the difference being that action items can be equipped on players using their own slot (previously named "MISC2"). Currently, action items cannot be used with or obtained through the Crafting system, an exception being the Power Up Canteen which can be crafted.

Pressing the action key (default key: H) allows the player to use whatever action item is currently equipped in their action slot. Users should be aware that items with limited uses (except for Noise Makers) bring up a menu when activated, therefore these items should be used in a safe spot. For example, the Dueling Mini-Game prompts the user to pick the opponent to duel, and the gifts prompt the user to confirm their use.

Contains a Seal Mask and a random 2011 Halloween item.

Given to each player during the Very Scary Halloween Special. Players who missed it that year got it in the Spectral Halloween Special.

Given in a purchase that exceeds a certain amount in the Mann Co. Store.

What's in the Sandvich Box?

Contains a Robo-Sandvich and a Triple A Badge, both in Genuine quality when the box is opened.

Given to the Comic-Con San Diego 2012 attendants who redeemed the code distributed with purchasable replica Sandvich toys.

Contains a Friends Forever Companion Square Badge and a Triple A Badge, both in Genuine quality when the box is opened.

Summer Claim Check

Grants the player a random Summer 2013 Cooler when used.

Was obtained through the item drop system from the June 26, 2013 Patch to an unknown date.

Mann Co. Painting Set

Contains three random Paints, picked from the pool used by the item drop system.

Obtained by uncrating Crate #57.

Gift-Stuffed Stocking

Contains a Giftapult, Backpack Expander, Name Tag, Description Tag, Tour of Duty Ticket (Before the Tough Break Update), Paint Can (After the Tough Break Update) and 2-3 random drops. All except the random drops are untradeable.

Given to players during the Smissmas 2013 and Smissmas 2014 updates.

Unlocked Creepy Crates

Contains one of a set list of class-specific Halloween 2014 items. These items can sometimes be in both Strange and Haunted quality. There is also a small chance it can instead contain a Strangifier or a Killstreak Kit of any tier for certain Halloween items, or an unusual.

Could be purchased on the in-game store by players between the October 29, 2014 Patch and the November 13, 2014 Patch.

Bread Box

Contains one of four Bread related items inspired by the TF2 movie Expiration Date. Items from the Bread box have a chance to be of the Strange Quality.

Obtained through crafting during the Love & War Update. This item is no longer available, but can still be used.

Halloween Gift Cauldron

Contains three random Scream Fortress 2014 items. One will be in both Strange and Haunted quality.

Obtained by playing Team Fortress 2 during the Scream Fortress 2014 event or completing the "Carnival of Carnage: Bumper to Bumper to Bumper" achievement.

Halloween Package

Contains items from the previous Halloween updates in either Unique or Haunted quality.

Obtained by completing primary objectives from any of the Halloween Contracts.

Duck Journal		During a Duck Journal event, this item gives the ability for ducks to drop when an objective is completed or an enemy is killed. Using an equipped Duck Journal with the action item button causes one of several Duck Collectors Bumper Car game quack sounds to play. Jungle Inferno ConTracker		Gives access to Jungle Inferno contracts, tracks progress and kills made by the user during the Campaign event.
