Map Overview

This article is about Community Crasher strategy.

Note: It is recommended to read the main Crasher article first to become familiar with the names of key map locations used in this article.

General strategy

Giant strategy

  • As a giant, you move 25% slower and your large size makes you a primary target for the enemy team. In addition, you gain less health from health packs and Medics heal you less quickly than normal teammates. But, you are resistant to backstabs and headshots, have a Crit boost that lasts forever, and act as a level 1 Dispenser to your teammates.
  • Avoid using weapons whose main benefit is to gain (Mini-)Crits under specific circumstances, as you gain a permanent Crit boost.

Class-specific giant strategy

Leaderboard class scout.png Scout

  • Due to your high speed, you can reach the enemy base quicker than others, however you also have less health than other classes as a giant.
  • Weapons that increase mobility (such as the Baby Face's Blaster, Atomizer, or Winger) do not have much effect, as dodging is ineffective as a giant.

Leaderboard class soldier.png Soldier

  • The Soldier is a great candidate for becoming a giant. His rockets will not suffer from damage falloff thanks to the Crit boost and the rockets are able to kill most classes in a single hit.
  • The Liberty Launcher and Air Strike with their increased clip size allows the Soldier to decimate the enemy team; the Crit boost negates the damage penalty of your rockets.
  • Avoid using the Cow Mangler 5000 as it can't deal Critical hits.
  • The Shotgun or the Panic Attack is the best choice to use in case there is no more rockets to fire.
  • The Battalion's Backup or Concheror are handy for keeping you and nearby teammates alive.
  • For melee, the Disciplinary Action is a good option due to its longer range and its ability to gain a speed boost from teammates.
  • Due to the larger size of giants, the Righteous Bison can hit a giant multiple times with one shot, dealing more damage than it would against a regular player.

Leaderboard class pyro.png Pyro

  • Pyro can be a devastating giant, although requires a closer range compared to other classes.
  • Avoid using weapons such as the Backburner or Phlogistinator, as their main upside is nullified by the permanent Crit boost.
  • Due to the Pyro's limited range, using any shotgun is ill-advised.
  • The Thermal Thruster can be useful for getting you to the goal.

Leaderboard class demoman.png Demoman

  • The Demoman can destroy enemies with his Crit grenades in a fashion similar to the Soldier.
  • If you are confident with your Primary aim, considering using a shield to gain some resistances as well as the ability to charge for extra speed.
  • For melee, the Eyelander can allow Demomen to survive on the battlefield for longer, though it requires enemies to get close.
  • Alternatively, the Half-Zatoichi can be another great melee to use, as its health-on-kill mechanic will regain a lot of your lost health. However, be wary of enemy Soldiers and Demomen also wielding it (either giant or not), if they hit you while you are also wielding it, it's a one-hit kill, regardless of how much health you currently have.
    • When having the Half-Zatoichi equipped, it's not recommended going full Demoknight, as you will be forced to use your Melee only and won't be able to switch to a "safe" weapon when you see an enemy also wielding the Half-Zatoichi.
      • If you want to still equip a shield to go with the katana, the Iron Bomber is a good primary weapon pick to use alongside it. Regular non-giant enemies might group up against you with their katanas to try to kill you in one hit, if so, make sure to switch to your primary weapon to avoid taking lethal damage, and try to defeat them before switching back to the Half-Zatoichi and getting your lost health back.

Leaderboard class heavy.png Heavy

  • The Heavy can be a powerful giant due to his naturally high health as well as high damage output. His natural weaknesses such as headshot and backstab vulnerability are not much of a concern.
  • Any one of the Heavy's primaries work well, however, note that the Huo-Long Heater requires a friendly Pyro to ignite the enemy giant to make full use out of it.
  • Using the Gloves of Running Urgently can help with reaching the goal.
  • Using the Fists of Steel as a giant can make you extremely hard to be killed, considering your high health.
    • Be wary of non-giants enemies hitting you with melee weapons, as having the Fists of Steel active will make you a lot more vulnerable. Considering they are close to you, it shouldn't be much of a concern as you can simply use your melee weapon against them without having to switch to your primary or secondary weapon.

Leaderboard class engineer.png Engineer

  • The Engineer makes for a rather poor giant, as he is more oriented around area defense than offensive pushing.
  • Offense-oriented weapons such as the Gunslinger or Widowmaker increase your chances of succeeding.

Leaderboard class medic.png Medic

  • The Medic makes for a great support, but makes for a bad giant due to his bad offensive capabilities.
    • Due to giants acting like moving Level 1 Dispensers, healing nearby teammates while as a giant means it will most of the time halt the charge rate of your ÜberCharge, which is another reason as to why not becoming a giant as a Medic.
  • The only good primary as a giant would be the Blutsauger, as the health regen on hit can help you stay alive longer. Despite this, other classes are much more powerful while in their giant state that it's still not recommended becoming a giant as a Medic, as his role is more important helping other giants and regular teammates.

Leaderboard class sniper.png Sniper

  • The Sniper is not a good giant, as he is mainly focused on single-target combat and cannot deal with all of the enemies.

Leaderboard class spy.png Spy

  • For the same reasons as Sniper, Spy does not make for a good giant. In addition to this, his weapons are not suited for giant combat.

Non-giant Class-specific strategy

Leaderboard class scout.png Scout

  • The Mad Milk can be used against giants to help your teammates, including your giant, in recovering their health. The large player model from the enemy giant means it's an easy target to get lost health back.
  • You can mark a giant for death using the Fan o' War, however, it can be extremely dangerous considering the enemy giant may kill you incredibly quickly when trying to approach with your melee weapon.
  • A Scout wearing the Baby's Face Blaster, Flying Guillotine and Wrap Assassin can have their Boost meter nearly always full at all times if the guillotine and bauble are constantly used against the giant.

Leaderboard class soldier.png Soldier

  • Considering it's a lot easier to hit a giant than a non-giant, hitting them makes it easier to fill any of your banners.
    • The Battalion's Backup is the best pick when playing as a non-giant Soldier, as both your nearby teammates and ally giants won't be affected by the Critical hits.

Leaderboard class pyro.png Pyro

  • If the enemy giant is not a Pyro, or a Sniper wielding the Darwin's Danger Shield, the Flare Gun can be used against the giant to fill the Mmmph meter quickly when having the Phlogistinator equipped alongside it.
  • The Dragon's Fury quick fire rate in succession means it can be used to quickly drain the enemy giant's health. A giant may also be used as a "middle target" to always keep the fire rate bonus applied when aiming at other enemies in front or behind the giant.
  • If the enemy giant has a lot of Medics, hitting the giant with the Third Degree can easily get rid of all of them.

Leaderboard class demoman.png Demoman

  • An enemy giant will almost always go from the left side to deliver the barrel bomb against your team, as the right side is more dangerous due to being closer to your team's spawn. Consider placing sticky traps on this side.
    • If you plan in focusing only the enemy giant, considering equipping the Scottish Resistance to lay down your sticky traps, and rely only on your primary weapon to deal damage to the giant. Due to their size, aiming at any distance shouldn't be too difficult.

Leaderboard class heavy.png Heavy

  • While having the Huo-Long Heater equipped and paired with a non-giant Medic wielding the stock Medi Gun, the afterburn from the fire ring plus the bonus damage from burning enemies means an enemy giant can have their health melted in a matter of seconds. Being invulnerable by the effects of the stock ÜberCharge means you can stay close to the enemy giant without worrying of being killed, increasing the amount of damage you will deal with your primary weapon.

Leaderboard class engineer.png Engineer

  • The Widowmaker works exceptionally well against enemy giants, as it can be an infinite refill to your metal at anytime, as well as a consecutive way to deal damage to the giant, as long you have some metal remaining to be able to use the Widowmaker in the first place. Having an infinite amount of metal when using the Widowmaker means an Engineer can play more offensively with his Mini-Sentry Guns, while building Dispensers and Teleporters when the enemy giant is down to prepare for future battles and helping your non-giant teammates reach the front lines faster.
    • The Short Circuit can be used alongside this strategy, as the alt-fire can safely vaporize incoming Crit projectiles from the enemy giant. When running low on ammo, simply switch back to the Widowmaker and deal some damage to gain some of that metal back. Rinse and repeat.
  • The Eureka Effect can be useful when playing offensively and a enemy giant is soon reaching your gate. A quick teleportation back to your spawn to deal with the giant may avoid an enemy team capture.

Leaderboard class medic.png Medic

  • The Crusader's Crossbow is a great pick on Crasher, as it's incredibly easy to heal giants from far away due to their slow mobility and large player model.
  • Avoid using the Kritzkrieg, as the giants have a permanent Crit boost and it provides no other benefits.
  • The Vaccinator is a good choice, as it provides Crit immunity and a damage resistance. Try to resist the damage type of the enemy giant.
  • The Quick-Fix is also a great alternative, its ÜberCharge mechanic that heals at triple rate can quickly heal a lot of lost health from the giant.
    • Having two Medics, one with the Vaccinator and the other with Quick-Fix, can be a deadly combination. The Vaccinator Medic will reduce the amount of damage taken, and the Quick-Fix Medic may at anytime deploy their ÜberCharge if the giant is heavily injured.
  • Don't forget to heal your other teammates. While healing the giant is a priority, other teammates are just as important.
    • Due to giants acting like a moving Level 1 Dispenser, the ÜberCharge rate is halted when healing them. This is another good reason as to why it's important to heal your other teammates.
  • The Solemn Vow can be used to see the amount of health an enemy giant has. This can be paired well with the Vaccinator to know what resistances should be used. If an enemy giant is about to de destroyed, it might be best to just hold on with that resistance ÜberCharge.

Leaderboard class sniper.png Sniper

  • Try focusing on the Medics healing the giant to make it easier for your team to kill the other giant.

Leaderboard class spy.png Spy

  • Backstabbing a giant is not possible, try clearing out Sentry Guns and killing the Medics of the other team before your giant gets there. Giants have a harder time clearing Sentry Guns due to Crits not affecting buildings.
  • Spy can be a great support combined with a powerful giant teammate, since most enemies will have their attention on the giant, they will be less focused on any Spies.
