Considerations

Recently, a relatively famous tf2uber named Casper (With about 70k subs) made a video in which he talked about the charities which took place within the Tf2, mentioning: Hugs.tf, Jingle Jam and other charity driven events. Now, I was wondering if I could insert this peice of information into the Considerations colum of this table, thus adding a notability factor to those events. I mean, the Team Fortress Wiki:Community topics notability guidelines say that a youtuber covering a community topic should make it notable, right?

Hugs.tf, Tip of the Hats, Jingle Jam. These are 3 big events that already have a wiki page. Other minor charity events such as Hydro.tf, Cap that Cup, or Heals for Reals don't really need their own page as they're not big enough to warrant an entire page (Will just end up being a very short page that may as well be merged with the tournament medal pages). Despite CTC even having its own blog post, I believe it does not deserve its own charity page similar to toth or jingle jam.

If there is an event you have more knowledge about, feel free to edit the Considerations column. You can also add new events.

Just to be clear, all pages listed here are likely to remain intact. Even if they don't comply with the new policy, we don't think it's necessary to remove them. New pages, whoever, will be subject to the new Community event notability policy, which is not yet finalized.

A certain amount of coverage by a famous Youtuber falls under the category of "Reported in game media", but he's just one person, and that basis alone is hardly worth considering. It would be the same as a famous Youtuber playing on a obscure, niche custom map - not notable, or CTC - no historical value. A better argument would be "Covered by multiple Youtubers/Streamers before, during and after the event". — Tark lm(pt-br) 14:44, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Why not delete?

I don't really understand the decision to keep the pages which aren't notable, simply because they're "legacy". Now, I cannot predict the future, but I think that keeping these pages around will completely invalidate the Community topics notability project, as future editors (which are supposed to be subjected to the new rule) are going to turn around and say: "Look! That page also isn't notable, so why is mine getting deleted while the other can stay."

Future editors should be able to read and understand why they weren't deleted (see Tags section). Removing pages that have been around for over a decade may also prevent users from finding information on these events.

As I see it, there is no harm in keeping them around. They won't invalidate the guidelines simply for existing. — Tark lm(pt-br) 21:24, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
