Template talk:Water locations table
This needs to be reworked (or replaced)
As it is right now, I think it is a bad template. The images are not needed and make the table needlessly long. It is not needed to describe what and where the waters are in each map in the article this is being used on; that is information better suited on the individual map articles. Having these descriptions here adds more work for translators and will inevitably lead to tons of text in English being added to the translated articles due to little to no translators of certain languages working on the wiki.
It also does not distinguish between water inside the playable area and out-of-bounds water, the latter being purely cosmetic and not affecting gameplay whatsoever (which can be entirely disregarded, in my opinion).
I think we could do with a simple list, similar to the one in Magic spells. Alternatively, if it is deemed necessary to mention what kinds of water are found in a map, we could have a table similar to the ones in the game mode articles, with one or more columns explaining which ones are present.
- Visualization of first table suggestion
Name | Picture | Water types |

- Visualization of second table suggestion
Name | Picture | Shallow | Deep | Deadly | Scenic |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2Fort |

- I think the text bit can be changed to the "water types" section (not the whole table, mind you). I personally find the text better and think it's a bit weird to try and avoid text on every single template from now on because it's translating work that'll be outdated at some point. Pretty much most of the Wiki is going to be outdated in the translated sections with how the activity is nowadays, and these sentences are barely more translation effort than a medium-sized page (I also don't think we should always be trying to make templates have as little words as possible to avoid outdated translations). At the very least, with an outdated English description, there are the images that they can still see where the actual water is.
