The Knight is an experimental boss from an old Mann vs. Machine prototype from 2009 simply called "Raid". In this "Raid" gamemode, players would be on a 5 man team and enemy bots would spawn in, much like in Left 4 Dead. Much like today's MvM, Raid would've also featured waves of hordes with unique enemies, but would've also had boss battles.

The existence of this boss was first discovered in the form of filename strings found in some .lst files from before the May 13, 2013 Patch when all .lst files in the tf\reslists folder were deleted. These filename strings are for files related to a knight with a big sword and big shield.

  • tf\materials\models\bots\knight\knight.vmt
  • tf\materials\models\bots\knight\knight.vtf
  • tf\models\bots\knight\armor_parts.txt
  • tf\models\bots\knight\armor_arm_upper_l.mdl (+ .ani, .dx80.vtx, .dx90.vtx, .jpg, .phy, .sw.vtx, .vvd)
  • tf\models\bots\knight\armor_arm_upper_r.mdl (+ .ani, .dx80.vtx, .dx90.vtx, .jpg, .phy, .sw.vtx, .vvd)
  • tf\models\bots\knight\armor_leg_upper_l.mdl (+ .ani, .dx80.vtx, .dx90.vtx, .jpg, .phy, .sw.vtx, .vvd)
  • tf\models\bots\knight\armor_leg_upper_r.mdl (+ .ani, .dx80.vtx, .dx90.vtx, .jpg, .phy, .sw.vtx, .vvd)
  • tf\models\bots\knight\knight.mdl (+ .ani, .dx80.vtx, .dx90.vtx, .jpg, .phy, .sw.vtx, .vvd)
  • tf\models\bots\knight\knight_animations.mdl (+ .ani, .dx80.vtx, .dx90.vtx, .jpg, .phy, .sw.vtx, .vvd)

It is assumed that the following two weapon models were for this boss as they are only found listed in the .lst files.
