Team Fortress 2 Closed Beta was a version of Team Fortress 2 that included experimental weapons and features that were privately tested by top-level competitive players in 2009. These weapons and changes are not necessarily destined to appear in future versions of Team Fortress 2, nor does their presence reflect the consensus or desires of beta participants.
On December 2, 2010, Team Fortress 2 Beta was made available to all Team Fortress 2 owners, with the intent of testing new weapon variants and large-scale features without affecting gameplay in the official game.

1 This variant of the Gloves of Running Urgently was added to Team Fortress 2 during the Mann-Conomy Update, making it the only closed beta weapon to be implemented to date, and was redone in the Jungle Inferno Update, changing the -50 damage penalty to a 50% holster penalty, along with changing the max health drained of 6 to 7.
2 The concept behind this weapon has been used for both the Gunslinger, which can deploy a non-upgradable Combat Mini-Sentry at 4x the normal speed, and the Jag, which increases the construction rate of a building by 30% while hitting it with the wrench. 3 This weapon has the same concept as the scrapped predecessor to the Kritzkrieg, the Overhealer. 4 The fire resistant ability has been implemented for the Spy-cicle. However, the effect only applies for a short period of time. |
