The Catcher's Mitt was to be the unlockable melee weapon for the Scout. The Catcher's Mitt allowed the Scout to catch enemy projectiles, store them, and throw them back at will, dealing the same damage as the caught object. It was eventually replaced by the Sandman. Some of the same function as this weapon is seen in the Pyro's compression blast ability.

Catch dis!
The Scout

The Catcher's Mitt is a scrapped weapon for the Scout. It allowed the Scout to catch enemy projectiles, store them, and throw them back at will. Projectiles thrown back by the Scout would deal the same amount of damage as the caught object.[1]

It is unknown what the weapon's appearance was, besides obviously resembling the mitt of a catcher in baseball.
