The Soul Gargoyle is an item received which grants access to Merasmissions. This item is obtained by logging on to Team Fortress 2 anytime during the Scream Fortress 2015 or Scream Fortress 2016 Halloween event. It also provides access to the Halloween Transmute feature. The Soul Gargoyle returned during the Scream Fortress 2016 Halloween event.

Halloween Transmuting

Main article: Halloween Transmute

Accessible via a sub-menu, the Halloween Transmute feature allowed players to trade in three qualifying items in exchange for an untradable, uncraftable cosmetic item from a previous Scream Fortress event.

  • The level up milestone '666' is a reference to the "number of the beast" in the New Testament Bible.
    • The level up milestone '1337' is a reference to eleet or leetspeak.
  • Each level of the Soul Gargoyle is holding a different item.
    • The Sad Soul Gargoyle is holding a skull.
    • The Silly Soul Gargoyle is holding a twelve-sided die. The die's sides consist of the nine class emblems, a Saxton Hale emblem, a cigarette emblem (signifying the Administrator), and a swan emblem.
    • The Sneering Soul Gargoyle is holding the talking pumpkin from the Gargoyles & Gravel comic.
    • The Happy Soul Gargoyle is holding a pile of Gargoyles and Gravel books, with the topmost one being the Gravel Master's Handbook.
