“Sun Tzu's got nothing on us!” This article is a Community strategy stub. As such, it is not complete. You can help the Team Fortress Wiki Community Strategy Project by expanding it. Notes: Contribute Player Destruction strategy. Much of the content of Community Watergate strategy should be moved here, since it is generic to the game mode (e.g., Team Leader commentary). Statements specific to the Watergate map should be left there (e.g., rooftop bar, sewer, cellars, etc.). |
This article is about Community Player Destruction strategy.
General strategy
Class-specific strategy
Scout
- As the fastest class, Scout can flank the enemies and get easy kills. You can also use his speed to avoid conflict if you don't want to risk losing your scoring pickups.
- Always look for flanks to use to get the drop on the enemies.
- If you are the team leader, stay with your team, or drop your Player Destruction Pickups (Default key: L) to a trusted Player.
Soldier
- The Soldier's high health, damage and mobility allows him to score kills and quickly rocket jump back to his team, Use your mobility to Bomb high value targets and quickly escape.
- The respective buffs given by banners such as the Buff Banner, Battalion's Backup or the Concheror can help your team greatly.
- Your high health makes you a good choice for a team leader.
Pyro
- Using your airblast, you can push away faster classes like Scouts attempting to get scoring pickups to give you a chance at picking it up before them.
Demoman
- The Demoman's high health, damage output, and ability to place traps allows him to easily score kills.
- If an enemy team leader is nearby, use their weakness of being seen through walls to prepare a sticky trap in advance.
- Your high health makes you a good choice for a team leader and allows you to bait incoming enemies into traps.
Heavy
- As a Heavy, your high health and devastating damage can allow you to survive longer while also getting a lot of kills. However, your slow movement speed will make you an easy target for Spies and Snipers. Coordinate with faster classes like Scout by killing a lot of enemies and having the Scout pick up the scoring pickups.
- If your team's Scout is dead, then your high health pool will allow you to save the scoring pickup long enough for your Scout to respawn. Once they respawn, you should drop the scoring pickup (Default key: L) and allow the Scout to take it.
Engineer
- The Engineer's ability to place Sentry Guns varies in power depending on the map you play on. Be careful where you place it as it can attract more attention to you, especially if you are the team leader.
- However, dropping your Player Destruction Pickups are not recommended, as it's safer to lead more players to your sentry for more Player Destruction Pickups.
Medic
- The Medic's relatively low health, lack of mobility options and poor weaponry make him a poor choice for team leader, as it allows the enemy team to know your location at all times increasing the risk of being attacked. Instead, give pickups (Default key: L) to a trusted player.
- Your ability to heal damage can reduce the enemy team's amount of kills. Additionally, stick with your Team Leader to lower their chances of dying, which will make the enemy less likely to steal a large amount of your scoring pickups.
Sniper
- The Sniper's high damage allows him to pick off high value targets or team leaders from afar.
- Use the enemy team leader's outline to line up a shot before they come out of cover.
- Take note of enemies that have killed a large amount of your team. Focus on killing them to give your team more points.
- Use dropped pickups as bait for the other team by lining up a charged shot and waiting for an enemy who tries to take it. Consider using the Machina with a fully charged shot to eliminate enemies hiding behind the team leader.
- Your low health, mobility, and subpar close range weapons make you a terrible team leader. Instead, give your points (Default key: L) to a trusted Player.
Spy
- Spy does not benefit from the team leader buff if he has the most souls, so you don't have to worry about having your location announced.
- Pick off enemies who are alone or low on health with your weapon of choice. Do not attack the team leader unless you are certain that you can take them out.
