The Saxxy is a melee weapon for all classes with limited availability. It is an Australium-plated statuette of Saxton Hale set into a small blue plinth.
This weapon acts identically to each class's default melee weapon, sharing the same statistics and abilities. As such, Spies can perform backstabs and Engineers can upgrade their buildings. Its distinguishing feature is that enemies killed by it will turn into motionless golden statues instead of ragdolls. This effect applies to jigglebones which freeze in place.
The Saxxy was awarded to the winners of the First Annual Saxxy Awards in their respective categories.

Update history
May 5, 2011 Patch (Replay Update)
- [Undocumented] Materials for the Saxxy were added to the game.
- The Saxxy was added to the game.
Bugs
- The Saxxy is allocated many unfitting class taunts, such as those of the Demoman's Bottle and the Pyro's melee taunt, as well as unfitting sound effects, such as those of the Demoman's Bottle and the Scout's Bat.
- Each class is given the Buff Banner's backpack model when equipping this weapon.
- As a Spy, although the Saxxy can be used to backstab enemies, the Spy does not hold the Saxxy in the striking position when in a 180° radius of an enemy.
- The Fencing Taunt and backstab kill icons use the default ones.
- The clicking sound of the Spy's Knife can still be heard when taking out the Saxxy as a Spy.
- The Heavy has severe animation problems and clipping issues wielding the Saxxy.
- Voice responses related to melee weapons have no discretion when the Saxxy is equipped.
- Golden statues will still make the sound of flesh hitting the ground and will scream in pain upon death. Additionally, facial animations, as well as miscellaneous and slot items equipped, will not be frozen upon death.
- Gold statues will clip a small amount through the floor they are on, and do not react to stimuli, such as bullets and other players, among others.
Trivia
- While the First Annual Saxxy Awards promotional video reveals that the Saxxy is 75% made of Australium, the blog post promoting the announcement of the contest winners refers to it as a "handsome 100% Australium-plated Saxton Hale statuette", adding further vagueness to its actual composition.
