Bygninger er maskiner der kan konstrueres af Engineer'en ved hjælp af hans Build Tool. De fem tilgængelige bygninger er:

Bygninger
Engineers har brug for Metal til at bygge, opgradere og reparere bygninger.
Ligesom spillere, bygninger har [[health/da|livspoint], og ødelægges når deres livspoint reduceres til nul (se Destruktion længere nede). En bygning kan med vilje ødelægges ved at bruge Demolish Tool. Bygninger, der kan opgraderes modtager yderligere 20% til deres livspoint hver gang de opgraderes. Kritiske slag gør ikke ekstra skade mod bygninger. Våben lider heller ikke a reduceret skade på afstand; Uanset afstanden, gør hvert angreb samme skade (bortset fra splash damage). Bygninger har visuelle effekter til at vise deres skade; let skadede bygninger vil udsende røg og gnister, og svært beskadigede il virke til at stå i brand. Spy'en can desarmere og langsomt skade bygninger over tid med hans [[Electro Sapper/da|Electro Sapper]. Demolish Tool'et can ikke bruges til at ødelægge bygninger der er ved at blive sappet.
Bygninger opføres automatisk når de indsættes, men kan blive bygget dobbelt så hurtigt ved at slå dem gentagne gange med Engineer'ens Skruenøgle under construktionen og yderligere 30% hurtigere ved at bruge [[Jag/da|Jaguaren|| som Skruenøgle. At have mere end en Engineer til at slå bygningen stabler effekten. Nedrivning af ubrugte bygninger er brugbart til at genskaffe metal, da de vil eksplodere og efterlade ødelagte metalstykker når de ødelægges.
Når en standard Sentry Gun, {[Dispenser/da|Dispenser]] eller Teleporter er blevet færdigbygget, kan Engineer'en bruge metal til at reparere, resupplere eller opgradere dem ved at slå på dem igen med Skruenøglen. Metal prioritiering går til at reparere først, så resupplere og til sidst opgradere, med grænser på hvor meget metal der kan bruges per slag med Skruenøglen. Du kan også bruge Skruenøglen til at fjerne Electro Sappere; de kræver to slag for at fjerne dem. Venlige {{Pyro/da|Pyros]] der bruger [[Homewrecker/da|Hjerteknuseren| eller Maul'en can fjerne Sappers med et enkelt slag.
Alle bygninger can gås igennem af Engineer'ens holdkammerater, men de vil wirke solide overfor Engineer'en selv, hvilket tillader ham at stå oven på sine egne bygninger. Bygninger virker også soldie over for fjender, inklusiv fjendtlige Spies. I vand fungerer bygniner normalt; men en Sentry Gun fuldt omgivet af vand vil ikke angribe fjender over vandet, og omvendt.

HUD
Bygning HUD'et giver ved-et-blik information omkring Engineer'ens bygninger og en fjendtlig Spy's Electro Sappere. Status på andre aspekter af en bygning indikeres af et ikon.
Hauling
Bygniner kan pakkes of flyttes af deres ejere ved at presse den alternative ild-knap mens man kigger på og står tæt på dem. Selve operationen er øjeblikkelig, og Engineer'en vil fremstå bærende på bygningens værkstøjkasse på hans skulder til andre spillere, mens han fra en tredje-persons perspektiv stadig vil bære værktøjskassen som en normal bygnings-opførelse. Beskadigede bygninger kan pakkes op, men ikke dem der lider aktivt under en Electro Sappers effekt. En bygning er i stand til at blive flyttet når et gråt faneblad vises ved siden af bygnings navn på interfacet (se til højre). I addition til et ikon for bygningen og en hånd, viser fanebladet også hvilken nøgle eller museknap alternativ ild-knap er på nuværende tidspunkt sat til.
Det er muligt at flytte højst en bygning ad gangen, og ved at gøre det reduceres Engineer'ens hastighed til 75% (225v), en anelse langsommere end en Heavy, uanset hvilken type eller niveau bygningen har. Engineers vil heller ikke kunne skifte til nogle våben eller ting indtil bygningen er genopført. Det er stadig muligt at benytte hans egne Teleportere under flytning (med mindre han flytter indgangen eller udgangen til en af hans Teleportere) og andre venlige Engineers Teleportere.
Bliver en Engineer dræbt under flytningen ødelægges bygningen sammen med ham. Et specielt drabs ikon der repræstenrer en værkstøjskasse vil blive vist sammen med Engineer'ens.
Genopførelse af en bygning er svarende til en normal konstruktion, bortset fra at bygningen vil opføre sig selv dobbelt så hurtigt som normalt, og Engineer'en kan få processen til at gå endnu hurtigere. Bygninger på højere niveauer will blive nødt til at gå igennem alle deres opgraderings animationer før de bliver funktionelle, og kan heller ikke samles op igen før de er klar. Beskadigede bygninger beholder deres liv så snart de pakkes, og kan heller ikke repareres før de bliver funktionelle igen.
De tre faser i bygnings genopførelsen (pakninge, flytningen og genopførelsen) er ledsaget af specifikke svar.
Denne mekanik tillader for genopførelsen uden at være nodt til at rekonstruere bygningen, hvilket sparer tid og penge, mens den også bevarer hvilken som helst score en bygning må have.
Destruction
A building can be by destroyed by his owner using the Demolish Tool or by an enemy using any weapon, including the Electro Sapper. A building can also be destroyed if an Engineer is carrying a building and a player kills the Engineer. A destruction is worth one point to the destroyer and is recorded on the player's scoreboard. A destruction cannot be assisted, unless the building has been sapped previously by a Spy; the Spy will then be awarded the assist point.
Destruction points cannot be awarded to Engineers who destroy their own buildings. Furthermore, destructions will not count during the Setup Phase. However the destruction still occurs in game, and any associated effects, such as Frontier Justice's Revenge Crits, are triggered. Should an Engineer decide to use the Loadout to change his choice of Wrench, all his buildings are immediately demolished the moment the new Wrench becomes available (either by the Engineer respawning or by him reaching a Resupply Locker). An Engineer's buildings are also demolished when a player switches from an Engineer to another class.
When a building is destroyed by an enemy, the Engineer responds with one of three responses, alerting his nearby teammates.

April 29, 2008 Patch (Gold Rush Update)
- Teleporter effect no longer shows up on invisible or disguised Spies.
- Fixed "times used" entry in Teleporters maxing out at 32.
- Mapmakers can now place Engineer buildings directly into a map, with an option for them to be invulnerable
- Teleporters can now be upgraded to level three. It will recharge faster the higher level it is.
- The Engineer's Dispensers can now be upgraded to level three. It will give out metal and heal faster as it is upgraded
- Added teleporter sounds for level 2 and 3 Teleporters.
- Fixed teleporter entrance/exit effects being drawn when they don't have a matching teleporter entrance/exit.

- Fixed Sentry Guns firing at a fully cloaked Spy if they're still the closest target.
- Engineers wrenching a teleporter will repair the other pdend as well, and remove Sappers from both if they exist.
- Fixed being able to burn buildings that are in the water while standing outside the water.
- Fixed teleporting Spies getting stuck in enemy players standing on the exit.

Bugs
- A redeployed level 2 or level 3 Sentry Gun will attempt to target enemy players at the brief instant between reaching a level and starting the animation to upgrade to the next.
- Engineers who taunt in front of a building and immediately pick it up will be able to walk around with an invisible toolbox. While doing so, they are able to attack with the current melee weapon equipped.
Trivia
- The Repair Node was a building that was considered as an addition for the Engineer Update but was scrapped during development.
