The Conscientious Objector is a melee weapon equippable by all classes with the exception of the Engineer and the Spy. It is an uprooted road sign, with a worn sheet of paper bearing the Team Fortress 2 logo nailed onto the front; the image can be replaced with another by using the Decal Tool. The sign itself is battered, bloodstained, ridden with nails and slightly crooked.

This item functions identically to the wielder's default melee weapon.

Update history

October 13, 2011 Patch (Manniversary Update & Sale)

  • The Conscientious Objector was added to the game.

Bugs

  • The face of the sign clips into Heavy's head in the idle pose.
  • The fingers of several classes clip into the weapon in client view, because they share the same one-handed animations as those from the Saxxy.
  • If multiple people on the server have a Conscientious Objector, the Conscientious Objector may have the incorrect decal in client view.
  • Taunting with the Conscientious Objector whilst playing as the Demoman will result in the Demoman attempting to drink out of the weapon, as it shares taunts with the classes' stock melee weapons, with the exception of the Heavy.
  • Many classes do not have special critical hit animations for this weapon.
  • When the Scout first unsheathes the weapon, it clips through his arm.
  • As with the Saxxy, the Conscientious Objector shares the same sounds as the default melee weapons for the Classes who can equip it.

Trivia

  • A Template:W is someone who refuses military service for ideological reasons.
  • The description of the weapon references "Template:W", a song by Template:W.
