En hulk av en man, kommande ifrån USSR, Den tunge, ochså känd som tunga vapens killen, är den tyngsta klassen I Team Fortress 2, med den största uttålighet, största vapen och den slöaste farten I vilket han springer. Hans eldkraft är mycket stort, vilket tillåter honom att snabbt dra ner fienden. Skulle dock han försöka röra på sig medans hans gevär spinner upp eller skjuts, kommer hans fart att bli nästintill icke-existerande, vilket tillåter honom att bli en stor måltavla för fienden. Dock även om han är stor och skrämmande, gör detta tunga vapens killen till ett mycket stor måltavla, dock han bli nästintill oövervinnerlig med en bra sjukvårdare och en bra taktik. Den tunga kan ochså hjälpa sitt lag I mer än ett sätt, genom att kasta sin macka på marken skapar han en portabel hälsolåda, när en lagkamrat går över mackan, får denna en hälso boost.

Den tunge är argumenterad som ansiktet utåt för Team Fortress 2, då han återfinns på många bilder och promo artiklar för spelet. Han var ochså den första att få "Möt Laget" video, han representerar ochså Team Fortress 2 på Orange Box's låda, och återfinns ochså I Poker Night.

Den tunges röst är gjord av Gary Schwartz.

• Despite the Heavy's constant belittlement regarding the size of others, the Sniper stands slightly taller because of the Heavy's slouched stance.
• The Heavy's Minigun fires 4 shots per 1 ammo point (out of 200) and it takes him 20 seconds of non-stop firing to run out of ammo, meaning that "Sasha" only fires 2,400 rounds per minute rather than 10,000 rounds per minute, as the Heavy claims in the Meet the Heavy trailer.
• The songs the Heavy may sing as part of his response rules include Mily Balakirev's 'Song of the Volga Boatmen', Chopin's 'Funeral March', Khachaturian's 'Sabre Dance' and John Williams' 'Imperial March'.
• The emblem on the Heavy's sleeve was originally a skull and crossbones. This is still visible in Meet the Heavy.
• The Heavy is the mascot of "Heavy Gulp," a brand of drink sold in Left 4 Dead 2.
