The Fire retardant suit is an unlockable primary item for the Spy in the closed beta, the attributes of which were leaked by testers. The Fire retardant suit protects the Spy by reducing fire damage by 90%. An alternate 'Beta 2' version of the suit grants the wearer immunity to the afterburn effect. With the Fire retardant suit worn, the Spy gains increased protection against the Pyro class' flames, but loses the ranged attack capabilities of the Revolver, Ambassador, Big Kill, or L'Etranger.
Since the item is still in an unreleased stage, these attributes may be changed or the weapon scrapped entirely.

- The suit appears to be the conceptual predecessor to the Dead Ringer.
- Within the game's coding, there exists an unused attribute that makes the Spy fireproof while disguised, possibly hinting at the suit's inclusion in a later update.
