The Baleful Beacon is an unreleased melee weapon for the Pyro. It was added during the Very Scary Halloween Special. This weapon had backpack icons and a candle texture added to the game files, but the model and the rest of the weapon textures were not added. Its backpack icon was an unlit, old lantern with shattered glass, hung at the end of a large wooden pole.
The Baleful Beacon was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

October 27, 2011 Patch (Very Scary Halloween Special)
- [Undocumented] Added a backpack icon, kill icon, and a texture for the Baleful Beacon.
June 27, 2012 Patch (Pyromania Update)
- [Undocumented] Removed the backpack icon for the Baleful Beacon from the files.
Trivia
- This weapon appeared in the fourth day of the community-made Night of the Living Update.
- "Baleful" is an archaic, poetic English word meaning "ominous", "harmful", "wicked", "sinister", etc.
