Mann Co. Beta Maps are part of an Early Access program for including the community early in the development process. In particular, this opening of the development process allows players to play on selected maps and gamemodes that are in the Beta stage. Players access these maps by clicking on Play Multiplayer, ticking the Play Beta Maps check-box, and selecting the gamemode they wish to play. Users send feedback back to the TF2 team for suggestions, ideas and bug reports. Maps inside of the beta stage might have bugs, a lack of cosmetic props, and also a high chance of using dev textures (see Gallery further down this page). Since the Meet Your Match Update, the Early Access program has not been available to players.
There were two beta maps in the Early Access program: rd_asteroid
and pl_cactuscanyon
.
