Sam's Hat was a scrapped promotional cosmetic item for all classes. It appeared to be a team-colored version of the hat worn by the eponymous Sam from the Sam & Max franchise.
This item was to be released with Max's Severed Head, the Lugermorph, and the Big Kill as part of the week-long cross-promotion for purchasing Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse via Steam. It was cut due to the modeling team having trouble getting the hat to fit each class properly. Team-specific textures remained in the game files during and beyond the promotion, but were later removed during an unknown patch.
