The Splendid Screen is a community-created secondary weapon for the Demoman. It is an iron shield spattered with blood, with four bosses in the cardinal directions and a larger boss in the middle.

The Splendid Screen's charge ability is more potent than the Chargin' Targe's; there is no minimum distance required to deliver damage with a shield bash, and a successful charge bash delivers 70% more damage, or 85 damage. Like the Targe, heads gathered by the Eyelander, Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker or Nessie's Nine Iron will increase the damage of the bash, at a maximum of 5 heads to an additional 85 damage, or 170 damage total. However, the Splendid Screen only offers +20% fire resistance and +15% explosive resistance, instead of the Targe's +50% fire resistance and +40% explosive resistance. Additionally, the Screen does not share the afterburn immunity of the Chargin' Targe.
+

The strength of the charge is indicated in a meter in the HUD which changes color as it depletes. Using a melee weapon in conjunction with the charge will provide extra damage potential. For example, when the meter is white or green, a melee attack will only do normal damage. At the yellow color, essentially half of the charge distance, striking will add mini-crit damage. Finally, moving the full distance and attacking at red will give it a full-power critical hit. Additionally, disregarding distance charged, you still get a melee crit swing immediately after bashing into a player. While charging, any enemy in the direct path will be bashed by the Splendid Screen provided the player does not end the charge prematurely by attacking.
+
The Splendid Screen is a community-created secondary weapon for the Demoman. It is a battered iron shield spattered with blood, with four bosses in the cardinal directions and a larger boss in the middle.

This item has four different styles. These styles, titled "Classic", "Spike", "Arrow", and "Spike and Arrow", allow the Splendid Screen to bear a spike, an arrow, neither, or both, embedded in its face.
+
Like the Chargin' Targe, the Splendid Screen allows the Demoman to perform a Charging maneuver for 1.75 seconds (or 2.25 seconds if equipped with the Claidheamh Mòr), with benefits including a temporary boost of speed (fixed in a mostly straight line), shield bash and melee damage boosts which scale by distance, and the immediate removal of afterburn, bleeding, Mad Milk and Jarate. However, the Splendid Screen's charge ability is more potent than the Chargin' Targe's; a successful charge bash delivers 70% more damage, and its charge meter refills 50% faster, requiring only 8 seconds before the user can charge again. Heads gathered by the Eyelander, Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker or Nessie's Nine Iron increase the damage of the bash, at a maximum of 5 heads; however, the Splendid Screen gains 8.5 damage for every head gained (dealing 128 damage with 5 heads), instead of 5 damage per head like the Chargin' Targe (dealing 75 damage with 5 heads).

Damage
+
As a downside, the Splendid Screen only offers both +20% fire and explosive resistance, compared to the Targe's +50% fire resistance and +30% explosive resistance.
Damage

Alternate fire initiates a charge attack, which deals damage on its own, or may be used in conjunction with another weapon.

* Charge damage: 85 melee damage (if shield connects with enemy) + 17 per head (up to 5 heads).

* Mini-crit charge damage: 115 (if shield connects with enemy) + 23 per head (up to 5 heads)

** Both the shield regular and mini-crit damage are affected by weapon damage spread, meaning it is not a constant number.

* Charge speed: Hammer units/sec, or %.

** Charge speed: Hammer units/sec with Scotsman's Skullcutter equipped, or %.

Time to get bluttered!
The Demoman on stronger shield bashes

The Splendid Screen is a community-created secondary weapon for the Demoman. It is a battered iron shield spattered with blood, with four bosses in the cardinal directions and a larger boss in the middle.

As a downside, the Splendid Screen only offers both +20% fire and explosive resistance, compared to the Targe's +50% fire resistance and +30% explosive resistance.

This item has four styles, named "Classic", "Spike", "Arrow", and "Spike and Arrow", which allow the Splendid Screen to bear a spike, an arrow, neither, or both, embedded in its face.

 • When using any style other than Classic, the Splendid Screen does not appear when inspecting it from the backpack menu.
