"Archimedes" is written as a variation on the theme presented in A Little Heart to Heart, with the main difference being its longer duration and heavy use of improvisation between each repetition of the melody. While there are several musical ideas and statements, these are fully improvised and analysis is limited.

The sheet music as a whole only contains eleven measures, if the accordion intro and final measure are considered, but the melody itself lasts for eight measures. Within those eight measures, the melody follows the chord progression i-iv-V(-i), with i and iv lasting three bars, V lasting one, and the final i lasting one.
